    Stomach Burnning

I had the same issue and switched to prevacid. I take 30mg daily and it seems to control the heartburn much better than the Prilosec I took for the 1st 6 weeks. Sometimes different PPI's work for different folks. Prilosec may not be the best one for you or it may not be a high enough dose. This sensation is very common with this surgery. Good luck!!
  4. Hello all. I've been a member on here for a few months, mostly reading others posts and gathering more information about the sleeve. I'm finally scheduled with Dr Jaime Ponce de Leon in early September. Has anyone on here ever used him or maybe know of someone who has? I found some info on lapband talk. His patient Coordinator is very friendly and has assured me that he's done over 3000 successful bariatric procedures. Anyway, many of your stories have been very inspirational to me and have help me make te decision to go through with this procedure. I can honestly say this will be the most extreme thing I've ever done. I'm a bit nervous :biggrin0:, yet quite excited:thumbup:. I would love to hear any feedback, tips, or suggestions from others especially those that may have used this Dr or went to Tijuana, MX for their sleeve. Thanks
  5. Hope your first day back to work went ok. I go back on Monday and I'm not looking forward to that either. My drain site is also still oozing. I thought it was closed but cleaned it really good today and realized it was still open. I'm trying to start getting some protein in but it's hard. Haven't been getting 64 oz of fluids in either but I'm hitting 48 oz. Honestly having just a little buyer's remorse but I know that's normal. I just wish I could fast forward 3-4 weeks to speed this healing process along. Today I did notice I had less energy when I took my niece to the zoo. I had to rest several times, but I made it through. Otherwise all is well. Good luck with your recovery. TTYL

  7. My gas pains are lessening everyday, Thank God. I did my first protein drink on yesterday and it went ok. Got a little gassy. Today I tried some loose cream of wheat with Lactaid skim milk and that was great because I was starting to get some mild hunger pains. I started taking Omeprazole 3 days after surgery because I was having excruciating false "hunger" pains and it really helped. I feel pretty good. No real soreness that I can think of. Occasional left sided pain, but that's all. Congrats on your weight loss!! I'm down 15 lbs from pre-op myself so I'm very pleased also. How's the hubby?

    Hola I'm back from Tijuana

Hey there! As for me, I'm doing well myself. You were very inspiring for me following your surgery, being up and about and all. The only thing I haven't conquered is the gas pains. I'm doing lots of walking though. I'm glad to hear you're doing great. I couldn't help but to weigh this morning and I've lost about 10 lbs since starting my liquids last Tuesday.I have not even had a desire for food. I hope it stays like this. I agree Dr Almanza and his staff were exceptional. Take care
  9. Thank you so much. I'm doing well. My mother and I went over to Horton Plaza in San Diego and did some shopping for a few hours. I don't have any fatigue, or anything, just a slight soreness of my abd and also a weird feeling when I swallow, but otherwise doing great.

  10. So, it's been a long time coming. My surgery date is finally only days away. I start my 3 day liquid diet tomorrow morning. I fly out to San Diego on Thursday for surgery on Friday in Tiajuana, MX with Dr Almanza!! I'm soooo excited, but also very nervous :scared0:. My mom is coming along as my support person so that puts me at some ease . Everyone keep me in your thoughts and prayers please.
  11. I have told a select few coworkers of my plans. I'm scheduled for next Friday, and if everything goes well, I will tell other coworkers if they notice my weight loss. I just didn't want to tell everyone before because of all the negativity I've gotten from the few I've told. I agree that it is a personal choice.

    Howdy!

Welcome. I was very similar to you with "lurking" around the site before I actually posted. I'm scheduled to have my sleeve next Friday. Good luck with your approval!

First Post, 12 days after surgery.

Good luck with your recovery. Sounds like you are going through the expected emotions dealing with a major life changing event. We're all here for you. Keep up the good work. It will definitely pay off.
  15. I planned on it even though I wasn't told to but never got started. I just have to do the 3 days of clear liquids. My surgery date is 9/3. I'm going to be good next week starting Sunday. I want to do all liquids starting then instead of Tuesday to give myself a quicker recovery and reduce my risk of complications.

  16. I'm sorry I'm so late to respond. Yay! We will get to meet:) The time is winding down. How are you feeling?

    Eating after VSG

I'm having surgery with Dr Almanza on Sept 3rd and this is one of my beggiest fears. I've always been a fast eater, so I know this is going to be quite challenging for me. I'm mainly afarid of getting sick and busting my staple line. FOr how long after your surgery were you getting sick?

    September sleevers wanted!

I'm am scheduled for the Vertical Sleeve on Spetember 3rd in TIjuana, MX. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get, but very excited also.
  20. Miralax is the best. Mix it in 6-8 oz of a drink of your choice. It's tasteless and gentle on the stomach so it doesn't cause cramps and discomfort. You can take it up to twice daily. I love the stuff. I'm a nurse and work with many patients who are immobile and suffer from problems with constipation and they swear by it. I had abdominal surgery 2 years ago and it worked wonders for me afterwards.

    Sleeve Surgery July 8th

I think it's Ponce de Leon. I'm scheduled with him for 9/3. How'd your surgery go? I hope things went well for you. If so, are there any tips or suggestions that I should be aware of to better prepare myself?
