  1. My bf was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis and the treatment for it is surgery and/or eating 6 small meals per day along with anti nausea medication...so my bf and I have a lot in common with the band. I have to eat 3 small meals but not drink with them, etc. Most people that have gastroparesis have and get it from untreated high blood sugars so knowing that I would question whether the band causes this chronic illness, especially when it sounds like the band would help someone with the illness. I'm glad your father feels better, I can relate too well to ur post, but I'd make sure his blood sugars are and stay in range. My bf is type II but was put on an insulin pump due to his diagnosis of gastroparesis. Goodluck!
  2. Amazing! Great job and so inspiring!!! You look so much younger too!
  3. I'm bigger and taller lol good luck with your upcoming surgery though!
  4. RG, LOL I have a Droid so my messages come to me! Glad I made u feel included still waiting for approval and for my doc to get back from vacation...I am at 285 still though ... maintaining minus 1!
  5. Rg, thanks for your encouragement! Its crazy how bad I feel before hearing about others issues. I hate that we go thru this but it sure is nice to know I'm not alone! The ticker is tricky...to be honest I haven't updated mine for quite some time cuz I don't remember how! I know there's a post on the board with instructions...we'll have to both read that one! Lol Thanks again for the encouragement!!!
  6. I hope mine does better this second time-double knot please! Lol
  7. It is very likely. I had sex at 3 weeks post op and no restriction was given to me, but i think mine was from exercising before the 6 weeks was up. Not sure though.
  8. My port flipped so no fill for me until 6 weeks post op at least...need insurance to approve another surgical procedure first! This is not how I wanted this all to go!
  9. My port flipped too...I'm waiting for pre approval AGAIN so my doc can fix it and give me my first fill...Bandster hell...I'm in it!
  10. I'm in Bandster hell and hate it cuz 4 weeks post op I went in for a fill and found out my port has flipped over! Have to wait another 2+weeks for ins approval for another surgical procedure...I'm pissed!
  11. I went for my first fill and my port has flipped all the way over! Now I have to wait two more weeks for approval for another surgical procedure!!!
  12. Thanks! The nurse called me today and said my surgery is cancelled now because they need pre authorization from my insurance company...again! So, I'm being forced to be patient...but I've dieted before for a month straight, so I'll do it again! The difference is at the end of this month I'll be filled hopefully! This is not going like I want...I'm fat because I'm not patient! I want it and I want it now. I guess that's a topic to discuss with my therapist in a week...lol
  13. Ok, so I am 4 weeks out from getting my band (aka "Chewy") and went in for my first fill today. My doctor usually doesn't do fills until 6 weeks after, but he is going on vacation so his nurse scheduled me sooner. I felt lucky until I went to my appt today. My port has FLIPPED!!! Yep, that's right, came loose from my muscle that it was attached to apparently and flipped over so my doctor couldn't get the needle in. I know i am one of MANY that has had this problem, but my doctor said it's an easy fix. I have lost 18 lbs since my surgery (counting pre op) but haven't lose ANY in the past 2 1/2 weeks! I had actually GAINED 4 lbs back and then lost those this past week again! I need to vent mostly, because I was really looking forward to feeling full again (more) since before surgery. I still have some restriction, I can't eat as much as I used to and don't drink with my meals or eat when I am not hungry anymore, so in that case my "empty" chewy is working to this day. The game plan is I am having an outpatient procedure (port flipped back) Thursday morning before my doc leaves for vacation for 14 days! He said he usually fills by having you drink Water and when you can fill it go through the band you are "sweet"! I trust my doctor, he's been doing this for years and was featured on one of the national news stations, but I don't like that he's going to be gone for 14 days after I get my first fill. I also WILL NOT wait for him to get back before I get a fill....that's just working too much on my patience! I wanted my fill today....and feel like throwing a fit like a two year old! LOL! I have goals set that I feel like I need restriction in order to accomplish. The first one being I want to lose 7 lbs by March 30th. That's 7000 calories less each week! 500 less food calories and 500 calories burned through exercise EVERY DAY of the week until my birthday! I can't do that without good restriction! If I could I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place....grr! Anyway, he's planning to just give me 4 cc's for my first fill since I won't be concious enough to tell him if I can swallow the water (like he's gonna give me some anyway!) LOL so he's just "winging it" I guess. He said he's given people as much as 6 cc's the first fill and I think that is alot, but he also said more often then not his patient's get to their sweet spot early and live there "happily ever after" with that method. I'm worried I'll be either too full or not have enough restriction and have to wait another 14 days for him to return! UGH...I'm not a happy camper tonight...I did buy a new treadmill today and worked out on it for 53 minutes. I jogged through two songs (total of 7 minutes) but once I get this port flipped back I won't be able to do ANY exercise for 6 weeks since the first time around I probably over worked out and it flipped! Contrary to what a lot of people think, not all fat people are lazy, so I worked out and did physical things around my house almost every day EVEN BEFORE I GOT CHEWY! Sitting around for another 6 weeks (actually doing it to the T this time is gonna drive me INSANE and if I gain weight....Im gonna scream!!!!) Thanks for letting me vent! Fking PORT! GRRRRRRRR!!!!
  14. I get my first fill this coming Mon- March 7th and can't wait! I've been eating real food for 3 weeks and am starting to gain weight! I don't like it one bit! I know I have to get better at my portions and need the bands help at this point! My jeans are getting too loose though!
  15. My surgeon preferred the realize band so that's what I went with.
  16. I'm going on a cruise once I lose 100 lbs!
  17. Welcome and my bf of 7 yrs found out how much I weighed during my consulting visit too! How embarrassing but he's more supportive know-how so it was worth it! Good luck on all of the pre stuff. Banded 2-1-11 down 18 lbs...first fill 3-7-11!!! Can't wait for "chewy" (my band's name) to get fat so I can get skinny!
  18. If I don't chew, it'll come "back a" lol this is too fun today!
  19. Lol! Me too Tracie! I'm thinking I'll name mine chewy- (cuz I gotta remember to chew, chew, chew my food) or chewbacka lol!
  20. Oh! And the best part is I paid $4.00 for my breakfast meal but since i only ate a little this a.m. and got full, it's turned into TWO meals! bon appetite!
  21. I had yogurt during my pre op liquid phase and then 2 wks after surgery which was Dr recommended. By week 3 I was on solids. Just chewing a lot more than I used to and really enjoying my food now! I did gain 2 lbs once going back to solids but have since lost those. 19 lbs down since pre op diet/surgery which was Feb 1st. First fill is March 7th. I had my first episode with feeling my food get "stuck" then about a minute later go through the band, and it was not a good feeling but kinda cool to finally feel my band work! I usually have a protein shake for breakfast but am away from home so I had an egg omelet, banana, and two sausage links. I ate about 5 bites of the omelet, both sausage links, and felt full up in my chest....so I stopped and waited for the nausea/pressure to pass. I am telling u all of this because until now I didn't know if what I was eating was ok really, but my doc said it's trial and error 3 wks post op. I def know I did something wrong, either too big of bites, the sausage doesn't agree with me anymore, or maybe I'm not good with solid breakfasts. I think u should try things and if it fills u up with no issues, it's golden! Follow your drs orders as much as u can too! I know others on here have stated breakfast is a time they are tight, so I didn't feel panicked when I had my experience. Listen to ur fellow banders on here! They are amazing!
  22. Sweet! That day will be fantastic!
  23. Omg! I can't wait for my boobs to shrink and actually fit into a bra at Victoria Secret!!! Jealous!!!
