  1. I'm just over 3 weeks post-op and have lost 9 pounds plus 6 from the pre-op diet. That's 15 total- wish it was more- but that's a heck of lot better than going up!
  2. Erin- I think you really need someone to talk to and help you sort out your priorities and issues... You sound (just from your posts on here) like you have alot going on and not dealing with it all very well... Life isn't going to get any easier (unfortunately!). Have you ever spoken to a psychologist or counselor of some kind? I don't mean to sound condescending, I know we can all relate to being a overwhelmed teen! If you don't mind me asking, how old were you when you got banded??
  3. I had asked my surgeon this same question because I get bad headaches often and Advil (for whatever reason) is the only thing that works for me. He said it's fine- just crush them and take them with something like milk, shake, whatever- that minimizes any possible stomach issues. Best of luck!
  4. I think you should keep in mind too that many people get banded with BMI's much higher than yours... so I would guess that the weight won't come off of you as fast as say, someone with 150 pounds to lose. Keep positive!
  5. I was told to remove mine on day 7.
  6. I was banded at 34 and am a self-pay as well... I'm in Canada though, so maybe we're different?? Best of luck- I was banded 2 weeks ago and am really happy about my band!
  7. My husband and I went last night actually and saw "Date Night"... super funny by the way. I'm only 10 days post-op, so I just had a bottle of Water... I didn't mind it at all, I just tried to keep the big goal in mind!
  8. I'm finding walking and heat work well!
  9. Wow! That's a very scary story for someone who's been banded for 5 days to read! I'm very sorry about your terrible experience... and I sure hope your health troubles come to an end soon!
  10. That's so funny..... I thought you were referring to a ''rollercoaster of emotions".... but you're talking about Space Mountain. I have no idea- I'm interested in reading some replies!
  11. Hi there! I travelled from New Brunswick to Toronto to be banded at Slimband on April 22, 2010. I was treated very well and was impressed the entire time by the staff. I was banded by Dr. Yau and I found him to be wonderful!! I am still abit sore, but I'm very happy that I went there and was banded. Hope this helps!
  12. Good luck!! Let us know how you make out!! (I'm getting done on the 22nd).
  13. I agree with Anne. Second thoughts are going to sneak in, and I think we just need to acknowledge them and then let them go. This is a major decision and the first time for many of us that we are doing something loving for ourselves. I am getting banded on April 22, and I have had the same feelings of wanting to turn back... but I know I'm going to do it!!!!!
  14. Hey! I'm not getting banded on May 10 (April 22 is my day) but May 10 is my birthday!
  15. My process was fast as well (about 6 weeks) because I'm a self-pay in Canada. I look at it like this: what would you be doing in the time if you had to wait 3 months, 4 months, etc??? Well, I know I would be eating like it was my last few months on earth and just gaining more weight. So for those of us who do not have to wait, I think it's a blessing! Good luck!

In 5 days my sister and I will be flying to Toronto for my band. I can't believe it's almost time-- I'm excited and scared and everything in between! I have some major changes to make in terms of how I deal with anger, excitement, boredom, etc... Thankfully I have the support of my husband and my best friend. I've already paid for the surgery, and I'm on my pre-op diet- My turn is coming soooo soon!!:tongue_smilie:

  19. Hi there! I'm being banded April 22nd.... I can't wait. I"m on the liquid diet as well, and finding it a challenge (I didn't get this way by being good at dieting!). Good luck next week!
  20. Maybe you should try talking to your wife- instead of complaining about her on a message board.
  21. DEFINITELY- being asked "when's the baby due?" when I haven't been pregnant in 3 years. Having my son ask at the grocery store, "How'd you grow such a great big belly Mom?"
