  1. thanks for the info... I dont think I have any saline in my band from surgery... I have felt it restrict my eating altho I was able to eat doughy food if I chewed really well and I guess thats a no no... It doesnt go down like it did before the band but it def goes down.. Im concerned with teh fill bec Im flying out of the country for 7 weeks (to complete my year of studies abroad) and the surgeons there do not touch teh toes of the ones in the US as far as experience is concerned- I am staying for a week after tho so hopefully that will be enough time to determine whether its too tight and needs fixing...
  2. Wow!!! I really have to start taking vitamins. What do you take? Has your weight loss been gradual? Im wondering if that makes a difference as well...
  3. my doc said 3cc for first fill- Its gonna be in about 2 weeks and Im wondering about the restrictions... I heard it wouldnt be tighht but people here are saying they had a hard time getting down water???? that will NOT work for me! AND WHATS PB?????????????? good luck good luck
  4. Yes!!!!! Positive person here reporting to group... Havent really followed posts but pledging allegiance nonetheless... Good Luck yall!!! Its interesting to see how many people are dying for the surgery... I hope the feeling lasts into the first week post op- I had a really tough time there... but its worth it in the long run (I HOPE:)
  5. wow!!!! Congratulations and thanks for the inspiration... I am 8 days post op and I hope I have similar successes(my goal is 70 pounds...)
  6. thank you so much... I got so busy with flying home and teh surgery that I duidnt have many online opportunities... I know that sounds cxrazy in 2010... I am post op now. Wow. I cant believe it. Today was my first day of mushy- after I got the esophagram and everything looked good. It was a pleasant surprise when 10 days would have made fri my first day of real food. I see how the band is working even without fill and im loving it.. Makes up for an annoying post surgery last week... I am finally getting to settle into real life again.... I am still nervous about the hair loss but I guess I have some time to deal with taht...
  7. Mar 15- flying home on the 8th.
  8. Hey all My surgery is March 15th- cant believe its approaching soon. Today is second day on liquids. I have the blessing of being busy and involved with school so things are happening before I can process them and worry too much(or maybe I just decided to take life that way...). I am still a functional human being despite being only on liquids (much to my surprise and delight..) I have a great liquid to recommend to you all- 100% whey protein shake, kosher dairy, 24 grams of protein per serving 135 cal a serving in all flavors. I mix it with milk, water, soy milk, vanilla milk- whatever makes the calorie cut and is diverse. I will be going home next week- all checkups still remain... Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! March Bandsters ROCK!
  9. Thanks so much!!! I actually found something really great- i should post it as a suggestion. Its 100% whey, 135 cal a serving and 25 grams of protein in diff flavors. I mix it with milk, soy milk, vanilla milk... Im finding it filling. Today is day 2 on protein shakes- not to bad(yesterday wasnt complete because I did cal counting and had a little food.)
  10. were you happy with him?
  11. I start liquids the day after Purim so I can still eat them!!!
  12. I was so excited to see that I understood this- I guess studying in Israel does help. im studying abroad finishing my college degree and going back to the US to be banded- I looked into the surgeons here but they have much less experience... I tried to google people in Israel undergoing lap band and how surprising to find it on the very forum I am already a part of... My big question is- what did all of you guys drink for the 2 weeks before? Halachti LTel Aviv Vmatzati Rock Hashetiyot LMeatzvei Guf... I want something good and protein filled... Also which dr is considered best here in case of emergency?
  13. Im 20 and doing surgery in march- Im a self pay so it went a lot faster- i think that once you decided to do it dont look into it too much- yeah there are important things to know but if you try to quantify how muxh it hurts, how many side effects youll just freak yourself out unnecessarily.... I am also keeping this a secret- as long as you have 1 person to help/support you in the process youre fine (like a MOM) Good Luck!
  14. My lliquid diet begins next week- 12 days of shakes and 2 days of clear(surgery is on the 15th) and Im searching for liquids- all I found was eggwhite protein that body builders use which looks:tongue_smilie:. I heard optifast is unhealthy though?....
  15. Whoa- I was sad to hear about all of your issues with the band- may this surgery be the final one and give u much health and happiness....
  16. Thanks so much- Im really hoping thats what it is as I dont meet the BMI and I wont be losing crazy amounts- as well as my adjustments will be spread out because of traveling etc Im hoping to suffer slightly less.....
  17. oh boy- in your opinion as a result of weight loss, anesthesia or what?
  18. Thanks so much for responding- i will be here overseas till a week before my surgery so I need to have already started my liquids a week before I leave. I went to the city and found eggwhite protein powder things which look:tongue_smilie:.... I think Id rather get a lil less protein and not die of starvation/nausea.... although I am concerned about losing here which people say is eithre as a result of protein loss or anesthesia or weight loss etc so i do want to get in my protein.... (If its as a result of rapid weight loss Im not that heavy so Im praying it wont happen... what happened to you?)
  19. As in you lost a lot of hair anyway
  20. I did some research- hearing about protein biotion nioxin silica zinc multivitamins... maybe if I become an obsessive vita person Ill be ok.. I just wish I knew HOW MUCH before I committed and was able to see pix of myself 6 months in... But life doesnt work that way.
  21. Cna I request to be done without anesthesia> lol- does this happen by every surgery?
  22. like half- youre not bald tho- no one has gone bald right? Would you not do the band bec of hair loss? Do u feel very self conscious- have people noticed?
  23. omg I feel the same way- i just stumbled on this minor detail yesterday and am all freaked out.. Also supposed to be going in for surgery next month- flying in more like- from another country... i already resigned myself to doing this-I dont want to back out now buut really freaky!! What should we do lol
  24. oh god- I just heard about this for the first time yesterday and Im terrified- I already have thin hair as it is... how much falls out? Should I not band because of this?? Will I look like a freak??? Is there anything to do to prevent it??? Helpp!!!Your support and encouragement pleasee///:thumbdown:
