  1. The problem isn't really the cheating. I wouldn't say it's expected but it's understandable. Are you sure you've been on liquids for 4 weeks. After 2 weeks, my surgeon put me on mushies and told me to progress to solids before my fill. However, each surgeon is different. The problem may be the CHOICE of cheat and the AMOUNT. Why McDs? Why TWO Big Macs? We have to cognizant of what got us all here in the first place. Next time, pull out of the drive through and think of some alternatives. Even if it's just a Happy Meal, it will be a better choice than two Big Macs. You should definitely give a call to your dietician and ask for some coping tools and/or healthy alternatives. Just my two cents, I'm new to this thing as well. I'm craving some fish right now but I'm holding out for a few more days. :scared2:
  2. I was banded mid-June. I'm not in ATL but I live about 1 hour away. Feel free to contact me in the future. I'd love talking with you about stuff.

    Trip to Lane Bryant

OOOOh! I pray for that day to come. Imagine the possibilities. Have fun discovering your new body shape. There are so many possiblities and lower cost options available to you now!
  4. After being banded 1.5 weeks, my doctor decided to move me from liquids to mushies. I was enjoying the great weight loss on the liquid diet and not getting hungry. I'm worried about gaining weight on mushies and solid foods. The doc indicated that I should be on solid foods my next appointment. Are my worries unfounded? He indicated I shouldn't worry about calorie counts, just recognizing feelings of fullness. I don't know what to think of expect.
  5. Thanks for the advice, guys. I guess I will keep working the program and worry about the weight loss after my first fill. The initial weight loss is a nice benefit though :smile2: I'm quite enjoying clothes falling off. They were already getting lose from my pre-surgery diet. I lost over 20 pounds on that one.

    Need a buddy/mentor

I was banded 6/16 in Atlanta, GA by Dr. Titus Duncan. I'd love to have a group of buddies/mentors. Feel free to contact me! Good luck on this new journey.
  7. I was banded 6/16, so I'm basically on broth and Protein shakes for two weeks. My questions are: 1. Did anyone else experience painful burps...Like a gas bubble is in your chest and cant make it's way up? 2. Did anyone else experience pain when laughing. 3. Is anyone having a hard time with the Protein Shakes (i.e., getting them down)? Is anyone using protein shots at GNC or anything smaller in volume?
  8. I was banded 5 days ago, and I must say I was not prepared for the gas pains and the burping. My gas keeps getting stuck in my check -- like a burp that cant quite make it out. :smile2: I'm okay with the liquid diet, I guess. I think I might be having a hard time getting my liquids in. I have no desire at all to intake liquids or foods. I feel like I have to force it down at times. I guess everyone is different. Sorry about the smoking thing, but hopefully, it works out for you. You have a lot of big life changes going on so be mindful of realistic expections.
  9. Hi, I'm 33 and single with no kids. I was banded Wednesday (6/16). I'm experiencing the gas pains and such so far. I'm still on Protein shakes and liquids but it's not bad at all. I'll be happy to converse with you. :smile2:
  10. Thanks for all the responses you guys. You've been most helpful.
  11. I've recently started my approval process for getting banded this year. I have a 3 month waiting period for GA with several tests and a psych eval. However, my big question is: For anyone who is a federal employee with BCBS Basic coverage, what has been your out-of-pocket expense for your lap-band® procedure?
