  2. Dear Karen, I am soooo glad you are doing better! I am fine, but the gas pain is rally getting to me! Unlike you...no diahrrea...but constipation!! I wish I could goooo!:embarassed: I am not feeling hungry...I eat so I can get my protein in, and I cannot do the entire week of clear liquids..:omg: so I started on some smoothes and today I added oatmeal to my smoothie for fiber... Karen...you can have any liquid including yogurt it seems... is that right? I am so glad we have each other November Bandsters! :Banane20: I told the women who had the surgery with me to join us...I hope they do! To all of you going this week...good luck!! Bring the GAsX strips really! You will all do great :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  3. Really, I need to know...can i just drink any amount since it is liquid or when do I stop? I need to get in the protein... so how big a smoothie can I have?
  4. How much of a protein smoothie should I have a few days after surgery? They are not too thick, but I need to drink enough protein without stretching the pouch??? One smoothie is 100 calsa and 25grms of protein. We need at least 60. Not sure if I should brake it in sections but them I might not get enough in a day...less than 800cals and not enough protein...:help:
  5. Thanks to all of you! Vegge...it rally was a great experience...yes the gas pain is not fun, but I have been using the GAs X strips and they help. I am also trying to walk around some. I am not sure how soon I can start walking up to 30 minutes at a time? Anyone know? Vegge, there wak a young woamn with aa low BMI who had it done and she is fine! All four of us did well...only one stayed an extra day because of a bit more swelling than the rest of us. Good luck!

  12. KAren good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for keeping us all in mind.
  13. Mine is Tuesday, but I do not know the time. You are keeping the calories low as if you were with the band already! WOW!
  14. Well...not one pound lost since Sunday...I am using the one I bought...makes me feel better using just one. I will see what the docs scale says! I guess to get in themin. of 60 grs of protein I am packing in the calories! When I'm banded I will obviously have to do high protein shakes more often. Even turkey can add up fast! I found a yummy 100 cal pudding with only 1 carb and 20 of protein at The Vitamins Shoppe! Once banded it will make a great liquid or soft diet meal! I went to get my pre-surg pedicure yesterday mmmfelt so good :clap2: I got an Ipod Nano so that while at the hospital I can listen to nice healing music... I think also I am all packed... I am at a poimt of no return he he :nervous :faint:
  15. WOW! great! how long have you been on the low carb diet? I ahve been on it at the same strict guideleines as you for 6 days now and have had NO weight loss! Are you also watching your calories? Of course with alot of exercise it helps I have been careful to stay under 30 carbs, but sometimes I have gone to 45. What have you been doing as far as food? We have surgery on the same day! i will be back in Austin On dec. 2!
  16. It is really important you are getting enough protein. Also important to supplement your B vitamins, especially B12, B6, Folic Acid which you can get a sublingual little pill that melts under your tongue. Biotin works well...do not expect it to work over night. Also take a daily multivitamin a good one! Good luck!
  17. Glad our November Bandsters are doing well!!! How are the recent surgeries from the past couple of days...hope you feel better soon, let us know how you are feeling!
  18. I am a Doctor of Naturopathy/Naturology with an interest in ethnobotany. Essentially...natural medicine. Several years ago I started on a journey to reverse my Multiple Sclerosis...I was not able to do much by then. Constant visits to the ER and unable to move most of my right side and severe cramping of my muscles. When the MD said I needed to start looking for a wheelchair, I rebeled!! I changed many things in my life...MInd, Body and Spirit and went back to school for my Doctorate. This summer I was able to go to the Amazon and to climb Macchu Picchu, not just do the more level part of it. Now I will work on losing weight with the help of the band. I do not use any pharmaceuticals at all. This surgery will be an exception to my ideals because I see the band as a useful tool, and much safer than a bypass. If anyone ever has questions on how to live a better life through holistic ways...please do ask me!
  19. Hi LM and welcome! They sell proetin shakes with Fiber, that might help. They also now sell very fine and clear fiber which you can add to the smoothies. Start with adding just once a day adn see...then you might need two doses of fiber or three, but so not overdue it. Remember to drink your water! Congratulations..youa re doing great! And by the way..it's great to see some guys here!:clap2:
  20. Lisa, I'll be back in Austin in Dec. hope to see you then!

Do the best you can until surgery and remember to take some deep breaths and if possible take a little walk outdoors when you feel down or frazzeled. They will get over it ater they see how great you are going to feel and look!! :clap2:
