I have tried every diet and I was always 'going to lose weight'. It just didn't happen and this year has been a bit hard for me. I realized that I am 50 years old and I never lost the weight. I also have never come to the realization that I have so much weight to lose. I have actually been able to ignore it for over 30 years! Anyways, it hit me a few months ago that I wasn't going to do it on my own. I am an RN and have had many patients and colleagues that have had the lap band. The thing I heard over and over was "It was the best thing I ever did for myself". I actually began to consider it. I talked to my husband- which I thought would not be for it and he was on board. The part that was hard for him (and myself) was the cost.  After much talking we agreed that I would have it done. I got financing and made all the appts. necessary for surgery. Before I knew it I was scheduled for Jan 5th. I was too busy to be too nervous until the day of surgery. Now I am 4 days post op and I am just beginning to feel pretty good. Still on the liquid diet so can't say yet how I will feel but so far so good!!
