Just like many other people, I have been over weight since I was a young child.  I have lost many people in my family at a very young age to obesity related issues.  When I was 24 years old, I was diagnosed with high bloodpressure and high cholesterol.  I just knew that I was on my way of ending up just like some other family memebers who lost their life at such a young age.  Losing my mother to cancer two years ago really opened my eyes and made me want to take contol of my life.  I have been yo yo dieting since I was very young, and was sucessful at points, but then would eventually gain it all back.  Before my mother had died we talked about how we would go and do the lap band surgery together to improve our health and live a longer, happier life.  Although we didn't get to take that journey together, I know she is looking down and is vey proud of the decision that I have made.  I was banded on December 23, 2009, and am ready to start my new life.
