  1. Ok Oregonians, Where are you? 77 people have looked at this thread, but only one person has posted. Are you going to let me believe I am out here alone..... What area are you from and when did you have your surgery and where? How are you doing??? Or are you like me and still working on insurance coverage??? I am looking at having my surgery at OHSU anyone have their surgery done in Portland what was your experience like??? I look forward to hearing from you guys, come on don't be shy!!!!
  2. Ok Iam trying to decide on the Band or RNY, this sounds like possibly some of you would go the other way if you had it to do over again........ Any feed back would be appreciated Thanks Christina
  3. Ok you guys, What is fitday? A web-site, a book, club or what? Thanks for the info on what a PB is now I'm not scared of that one...LOL I eat too much now since I'm pre-band, and burp all the time. Dear Dr. says I have GERD... whatever that is? I think antacid or pepsid does the trick most of the time.
  4. What is PB? Can someone please tell me what this is, why are you all so worried about it , sounds scary... Thanks Christina
  5. Hello Fello Oregonians: Are there any local support groups for people in the Willamette Valley Area? I Live between Salem and Eugene, but am willing to travel a little. I was wondering if there are any support groups open to people who are considering lap-band surgery, or have already had surgery in my area... Please let me know if you have any info to share and thanks in advance. Christina
  6. Considering surgery wondering what is erosion? Also fills, are they usually covered by insurance, are they painful, how often and why? Thanks, Christina
  7. Hi Everyone, I am seriously considering lap-band surgery in the state of Oregon. I have an appointment with my primary care Dr. tomorrow. To do a complete Physical before meeting with the nutritionist at the surgery center. I am just in the beginning stages of trying to get my insurance coverage, and to be approved for the surgery. I want to live a long and healthy life. Often the future doesn't look too bright for me, although I have allot to live for. I weigh close to 400 lbs. Much bigger than most people, my BMI is around 60, scary. I am turning 43 this month, and don't want to face 44 as a morbidly obese person. I guess I am looking for hope, I have had so many medical issues over the years.... I have moderate to severe RA (arthritis) and at my size this is not fun.... I can barely walk most of the time. I can stand up for 2-5 mins. at a time. I have to use a wheelchair if I need to walk to far, or stand for more than a few minutes. I am this huge person riding around Wal-mart in a motorized cart. If I have enough energy to go that is. I have 2 wonderful boys that my husband and I adopted at birth, they are now 12 and allmost 11 years old. I want to be around to see them grow up and get married and have kids.... Can anyone out ther offer hope, anyone been through something similar to me, and living post surgery who could share? Thanks Christina
