I was always very athletic and in excellent shape my whole life, until I became pregnant at the age of 30.  I gained a total of 63 pounds during my pregnancy, thanks in large part to Gestational Diabetes.  The weight gain caused symptoms of Facet Joint Disease, which I did not even realize I had until then.  It has been very difficult to lose weight, as the Facet Joint Disease continues to worsen with time, and with added weight -- a giant circle.  It is my hope that with this surgery, I can lose enough weight that the pain of my spine disease is reduced enough that I can then begin to exercise again and keep the weight off for good -- and live relatively painfree --  thereby increasing the overall quality of my life!
