  1. Last night I tried beef for the first time. Had a 3 ounce steak (I used to spill more than that in my lap) and it was wonderful. Had no problem getting it down or having it stay down. Did find, though, that it didn't hold me as long as chicken has. 'Tis true -- everyone's system works differently.
  2. well, my partner and I went to the surgeon this morning. I wasn't expecting a fill (our surgeries were October 6th), but he thought it was a good idea. Mine was no problem. I have a 10 cc band and he put in 4 cc's. I feel no restriction at all, but we'll see what happens. My partner, on the other hand, had trouble. The doctor could not feel the port. He sent her for an x-ray to make sure it hadn't flipped. It hadn't, but it had tipped just enough and is under enough of her body that he couldn't feel it. He tried a couple more times and decided he would wait and do hers under fluoroscope. Made sense. She is, of course, very disappointed. He said that once he gets it the first time he does not anticipate any future problems. Anyone ever have this happen?
  3. our doctor and nutritionist require 50 grams of protein a day. and we have been getting that every day. maybe we should just go ahead and up it.
  4. My partner and I both had our bands done on the 6th of this month and have rigorously followed the diet they gave us. Straight liquids, then creamy liquids, now a little mashed potatoes. But we keep getting weaker. Yes, we're losing weight. We're both down about 18 pounds, but neither of us feel like we have any energy. We both take a multi-vitamin, drink the required amounts of water, take a calcium. Anyone have a guess what's going on?
  5. 1 week clear liquids 1 week liquids and two mushies a day 1 week pureed real food. I'm up to mashed potatoes today and am beyond happy.
  6. Just got my approval yesterday and am set for surgery on the 6th of October. Have to get my supplies in the house. Thanks for all the help I find here.
  7. got my approval letter from the insurance company yesterday; called the doctor and my surgery is set for October 6th. This is what I have been wishing and praying for but the panic is starting to set in. I have my pre-op appointment with the surgeon this morning. I love this board and all the information and sharing that goes on here. Guess I had better figure out how to do that "ticker tape" thing. :clap2:
  8. Good morning. I have just joined the list and wanted to introduce myself. I have gone through all the steps, and am now waiting for my insurance company to do it's thing. I am using Dr. Fiallo in Springfield. He seems like a very caring person. Good to see others have worked with him. Keeping my fingers crossed for approval.
