December Delights 2009
Hi MePainting, You sound EXACTLY like me the week after surgery. I had those pains and I couldn't get my husband to understand what they were. I was thinking, it couldn't be gas, but it was. We get PLENTY of gas trapped in us from surgery that stays around for a minute. My stomach would be gurgling right afterwards and as the week went on, more consistently. Trust me, it's gas. About my 5th day out, I was literally STARVING! I was on clear liquids for day of surgery only. Then on to a liquid only diet for the first 7 days after surery (3 protein shakes and 1 snack) but my hunger pangs hurt. I called my surgeon/dietician and she let me move on to my stage 3 (mushies/puree) a day early. She said that I tolerate the liquids well and that I could go ahead and eat, but follow that diet to a tee! You're not alone.

Randoms: Pre-Band
I hope to capture pics of me that show you where I was, up and down, over the years. If you notice, I hardly EVER take pics alone, too self-conscience. Most of my pics are with my husband, child or twin sister. But you will hopefully be able to tell how I looked before. I am 5'9" almost 5'10" and my height and body type allows me to cover a lot of the real weight in the way that I dress.

December Delights 2009
Hello all, just thought I'd update everyone. I was banded 12/4 and it was a very smooth going experience. Having my husband banded too has REALLY helped me. I lost 15 lbs in the first week. I was on no restrictions prior to the surgery except for liquids only the day prior to surgery. My first 7 days was liquids only, 3 Protein shakes per day and one snack (broth, popsicle, Jello, etc.) I started STARVIN around the 4th day post-op and called my surgeon/dietician to see if I could have additional Snacks, etc. She allowed me to come off my liquid diet one day early and begin my mushies/soft foods. My soft foods include fish and very moist/soft chicken. So, I've been eating any cooked veggie and soft meat since last Thursday night. I've only gained 1 lb since. So, I'm still down about 14lbs. I also take my baby to the mall almost daily to get my walking in (it's too cold outside). The shoppers are a hindrance though :-) It's amazing some of the diet restrictions I see post-op, like 2-3 weeks of liquids, I probably would die! LOL By day 4 of the Protein Shakes I felt like puking thinking about one of them...ewwww. But, all is well and the sooner I can pick up my walking, the sooner I'll keep the weight off and even lose more now that I am on soft foods. I won't get my first fill until 1/4 so I'll have to let you all know how that goes. My husband doesn't have that much restriction from his first fill and has decided to wait until his 2nd to make a fuss. BUT, because he's so disciplined, he's still losing at least 4 lbs per week. Men....haha So, I wish everyone who has yet to be banded Godspeed and those who are post-op let's continue to support each other. It's so vital! Marcia

Day 6 Post Op and wonder what and why I did this!!
I truly understand your pain. And it's GREAT to know this support is here. My hubby was banded 10/23 and I was banded 12/4 and so far, our experiences are different. I don't believe I have as much swelling as he does, because I DO get hungry. I am on liquids for an entire week, then mushies, starting THIS Friday. I already have my meal planned. :-) My first couple of days were all gravy baby, but TODAY, is an entirely different story. This gas is SO painful I want to cry. My husband keeps telling me to walk and it only helps a little. I have the chewable Gas-X which don't seem to be helping a great deal. I just want to sleep, but I have an 8 month old baby that wants to beat mama in her tummy. I am SO loving this site right now and it sure feels good to know that I am not alone!
