  1. This is my first post, and wanted to introduce myself. I had the Lap band surgery on February 20th. It was performed by Dr Lopez-Corvala in Tijuana Mexico. The procedure went great and I have lost 8 pounds (all water) in a week. I was very please with Dr. Corvala and his staff. The only problem I encountered was that none of the nurses spoke english and I did not speak a word of spanish. I really should not call it a problem just an inconvenience. I spent two nights in the hospital and one in a hotel before flying home. I have had no problems and am really excited about where my life is headed. My weigh at the time of surgery was 243 and my goal is 130 - 140. If anyone is thinking about surgery in Mexico and has any questions, please feel free to ask.:w00t:

    One week post-op, YEAH!

The cost was $6500.00 and that included 2 nights in the hospital and one in a hotel, along with transportation from the air port in San Diego. I have my fills done at Northwest fills in Arlington. I was going to use the Fill Center USA location but they did not have a Fluoroscopic machine and I wanted that for my first fill to make sure everything looked good. :cursing:

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I have my first fill scheduled for Saturday. I am still losing but I think it's because I do an hour of Jazzercise 3x a week and play volleyball. I am really hungry and have to fight the temptation not to snack, so I hope the fill will do the job. It almost like I was never banded, no side affects and I have not had any problems with anything I eat.

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I am 2 weeks 4 days post op and down 12 pounds. Everything is going great. I have moved onto pureed foods (my nieces were trying to get me to puree a brownie, they are not much help:eek:) and have not thrown up or even felt like getting sick. I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast, then sip on my protein shake until mid morning, for lunch I have egg salad or chicken salad, a SF chocolate pudding cup and 1/2 of fruit. Then for dinner usually some kind of meat, (chicken, pork chop, or steak), mashed cauliflower or broccoli and a small baked potato. I get in about 800 to 900 calories and I am not hungry. I am not craving chinese food anymore  The only thing I regret about having the surgery in Mexico is that I don't have a doctor close by to answer questions or for post op exams, so I read a lot of your posts. You have answered many questions and I thank you. Keep up the good work, it will be worth it.

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Hi Nikki71, I am 10 days post-op and had the same symptoms. They lasted a couple of days then went away. I got the sharp pain usually right after I ate or drank something. As for sleeping on your stomach, I also am a stomach sleeper. Last night I tried sleeping on my stomach and it was still tender. It helps to put a pillow long ways under your stomach so your half on your side and half on your stomach. I hope this helps.
