  1. I had revision surgery March 2nd, like most I was have severe reflux and couldn't keep any food down. When I went in for a consult I was 148 and pretty happy. I still had 10lbs to lose to get to pre-baby weight but I wasn't too worried about it, I felt good. Dr unfilled me in December and I gained about 20lbs before revision! I've lost 15lbs in 2 months, definitely not what I thought since with the band I lost weight so fast. I have heard that revision patients lose slower so I'm trying to not stress about it. So the reason I'm writing this... I've noticed that I still have my band mentality. With the band since it was soooo hard for food to go down I would slowly eat food for hours and not get much down. Well now I'm struggling with the grazing. Obviously with my new stomach food isn't sitting in a pouch it goes down. I know this is not good and probably a big part of why I'm not losing weight. Any one else struggle with this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. This pretty much sounds like my story. I was banded in 2009, starting weight around 190 and I lost about 60 pounds before I had my son in 2013. I got almost all of my baby weight off but just got stuck around 148. I started having serious problems with my band over the last year. I went days without being able to get anything down, not even Water. I had a few unfills and fills and continued to feel crappy without loosing weight. I finally had to make an appointment with a new dr to see what my options were and decided that I wanted the revision to the sleeve. He did an EGD and found that my band was prolapsed and I had a hernia. I know I need this tool to loose and maintain. I had revision surgery on 3/2, by surgery day I had crept back up to 170 since I was unfilled when he did the EGD. I'm 3 weeks post op and feel great now. I've lost 12 pounds so far and I'm happy with that. I'm looking forward to the rest of my journey and getting back down to my ideal/healthy weight. I'm looking forward to no more fills/unfills and pains from the band. Plus I can't feel that crazy contraption anymore and that's nice. You have to do what's best for you and your health.

@@stackinstones11 I hope you are feeling better! Sounds like you've had a little bit of a rough start but you're weight loss is great! Congrats! @@newmeme Happy sergiversary! 16 pounds is awesome! My post-op was today and it went well. It was a pretty quick appointment with the PA, just checked my incisions and talked about how I'm feeling. We went over what I can start incorporating into my diet and that was about it. My first 'meal' was some fat free refried black Beans with some blended up ground beef cooked with tomato, onion, garlic with a bit of guacamole and cheese on top. That sounds like a lot but I made a pan and baked it all together then weighed myself 4 ounces. Looking at it was funny, I didn't think that would fill me up! At least that wouldn't fill me up before. I couldn't even eat it all but it was so yummy. I also had a couple ounces of cottage cheese today. @@JamieLogical Thank you for the encouragement! I've heard of this dreaded stall and I'm not looking forward to it. I don't think I'm going to weigh myself because I know that will get me discouraged.

Tomorrow is our 2 week mark! How is everyone? I'm today was the best day I've had! Im having some discomfort from the incisions drying up and itching but I actually had some energy today. My post op appointment is tomorrow morning and according to my scale I'm down 12 pounds. I'm very happy with that! Has anyone started mushy foods yet? I can start tomorrow and already have my lunch weighed and packed. I'm ready for something other than soup! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Puréed stage in less than 7 days

I was sleeved on the 2nd and I'm not supposed to start purées until Wednesday (2 week mark). I've already had a couple of things that were mushy and I feel good. I went grocery shopping today to get ready for my mushy foods, I'll probably start Tuesday. Head hunger is real! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Lap band revision

Hi @@kstein01 I just had band to sleeve revision surgery on March 2nd. I had complications from my band for about 8 months before I made the decision to go with the sleeve. I went in for an EGD and my doctor unfilled me completely and I ended up gaining 25 pounds in 2.5 months. I was so disappointed in myself. My surgeon does the removal and revision together if possible. And luckily he was able to do mine together. I am so happy with this decision and looking forward to not feeling horrible all the time like I was with the band. I know the weight loss can be slower with the sleeve but this is a journey not a sprint for me. Good luck with your decision, remember this has to be what's best for you and your future. @@newmeme You sound like you are doing great! That much walking really impresses me. I need to get more active. The popcorn might have been too much but I understand the craving and breaking down sometimes. I had a couple small spoons of ice cream last night to kill my sweet tooth, at least I didn't eat the whole pint! I'll start using my big Water bottle to measure how much I'm getting in. I know it's not enough right now. I do have the anti nausea meds but I stopped taking them since the anesthesia didn't make me nauseous, I'll try taking it before I eat and see if that helps. I've lost 10lbs so far and I'm ecstatic! When is your post op appt? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How's everyone doing? Just over one week post op! What are you eating and how do you feel? I'm on full liquids now and I've noticed that I'm getting nauseous when I eat. I have my Soup in a small 4oz cup so I know I don't over eat. How long is it taking you to 'eat'? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm doing much better now! Yesterday was a good day and today I'm even better. Still have some moments of soreness. Worked from home yesterday and same today. I have an hour drive each way and I'm just not up for traffic and sitting in a car that long, plus we are having a pretty good thunderstorm right now and I don't want to risk an accident. I have been up walking and staying active. I'm a single mom of a 2 yr old so he keeps me busy. Got on the scale again and I've lost 7lbs! Yay! Ready for some full liquids tomorrow. I know exactly how you feel. Once the dr unfilled my band that was giving me so many problems I gained 25lbs before I got sleeved. But that just showed me that I really do need this tool to help keep me on track. My revision was on the 2nd and I couldn't be happier. It's a struggle but we can get over this hump. You can do it! @@nervousnelly719 Yes, the anasthesia was fine for me. I remember being wheeled in and them giving me stuff to relax then just going to sleep, I remember telling them goodnight lol. MARCH SLEEVERS?

My surgery was on Wednesday the 2nd. I had a revision from band to sleeve. I woke up in some pain but the anesthesiologist gave me a block in one of my nerves in my tummy and that was great. I had a revision from a band so I think that's where a lot of my pain came from, having to remove the port, band and scar tissue. I slept a lot day 1, first night would have been ok if the nurses didn't keep coming into the room. I got up and walked every couple of hours because the gas pains were pretty bad, it feels like someone sitting on your chest and back, very uncomfortable. I don't even really feel like I was in too much pain, maybe a 4/5, it was mostly discomfort. I didn't get nauseous until I was about to leave the hospital, I did throw up a tiny bit of mucus but I felt better after I got some meds for the nausea. My rid home sucked because there were a bunch of bumps but once I was laying on the couch I felt better. Picked up some chicken Soup from a local Mexican restaurant and strained it so could get something in me besides water and ice. It was delicious! I slept on on night 2, I have an adjustable bed so I slept at an angle with pillows all around me. I was scared I was going to roll over onto my tummy. Days 3 and 4 were good, minimal pain, got up and shower and that felt good. My diaphragm was definitely swollen pretty bad, still is a little bloated. Last night was a little rough for me, I didn't sleep good and I woke up in some pain, I might have pushed it too much yesterday. Today has been ok, took another shower and got really tired. I wanted to go back to work tomorrow but I think I'm just going to work from home, my drive it pretty far and I don't think I'm ready for that. It has been hard getting in liquids, today I've had a Protein drink, water, chicken noodle soup broth, and a Popsicle. I need to get out of the house so I'm going to go to the store for my full liquid diet this evening. Good luck!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That's great sullylab5! I'm on day 4 as well and feel pretty good. I took a shower this morning and that helped me feel normal again. Ive been able to keep everything down so far- Isopure, vegetable and chicken broth, and some sips of Protein Shakes. I need to try some jello for my sweet tooth. I'm not having too much pain, most of my gas discomfort is gone. Only a few more days until I can have full liquids. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Not sure who I should tell!

The only people I told about my band to sleeve revision was my mom and aunt since I needed them to take me to the hospital and watch my son. I feel this is a very personal decision and it really isn't anyone's business. I've been starting to eat healthier and talking about my weight loss to a few people at work so they are aware that I'm working to get healthy. They do know that I had surgery but I told them I had a hernia repaired, I didn't lie just didn't tell them I also had a revision. You just need to do what you feel is best and if not telling anyone then don't. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was sleeved on the 2nd also (band to sleeve revision). Got home yesterday and feel pretty good. I did have some gas pains but they are mostly gone. Now I just feel like I've done 20,000 crunches. I am still very bloated, I weighed myself when I got home and I was up 2 pounds, I'm going to weight myself again until a full week out, I don't want to get discouraged. I'm having trouble getting in fluids because I just don't feel like eating or drinking anything. But I'm trying to force myself to take a couple sips every 15-20 mins. Can't wait to get on full liquids next week. Good luck to all of you on this journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. In t-minus 9(ish) hours I will be wheeled in to get this dreadful contraption out of me and my tummy will be transformed into a sleeve. I was banded in December 2009 and about 8 months ago began feeling the worst I've ever felt. Nothing would stay down, not even Water. I have since heard similar stories multiple times. After a few months of appointments and waiting on insurance I'm finally heading in to surgery. I'm excited, scared, nervous, happy... all kinds of emotions are going through me right now. I was very successful with the band. Started at a lower BMI and ultimately lost about 60 pounds when I was at my lowest of 132. I never thought I would let myself gain weight again. I had my amazing son and just couldn't get those last 10 pounds off then the band slipped and I went down hill from there. Since having it unfilled in November, while the dr was trying to do and EGD and couldn't get the scope through, I have gained 25 pounds! I knew I would gain some, going from eating nothing to pretty much all I wanted, but I've gained more than I thought. I now know for sure that this is the best choice for me. I need this tool, I can't do it alone. I'm not worried about portions or not eating like I have the last few months, I loved the band. I love taking a couple of bites and being satisfied. I'm ready to get to that feeling again. I'm most worried about the pain. But I keep telling myself it's just temporary, I will heal and I will begin this second weight loss journey, no looking back now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
