I have had some of those same concerns. My doctor told me that after the healing process you can be normal and do all kinds of activities including twisting, turning, etc... so jazzercise should be good. As far as 20 years from now, if there are issues it can be removed. But those 20 years will be a better quality of life if done properly. Last going to the hospital for complications, yes they may not have expertise in the ER for bariatric lap bands but they can call the doctor who does and they know life saving techniques to save you regardless. My doctor advised me that no lap band complication would be life threatening. I think all of these are natural fears and questions and you are right to ask all of them to your doctor. I am fearful everyday of my choice but I know if I do not do something I will be worse off. My surgery is scheduled for next Monday, 11/23. No turkey day for me. Everytime I get sad for missing the food, I think of the long term positive effects. Keep the faith!
  2. Hi there! I am a November bandster as well. My surgery is scheduled for November 23rd the Monday of Thanksgiving week. I will be missing my Mom's wonderful cooking but the end goal is worth it! I have been doing my practice diet for 4 weeks now. I start the pre-surgery liquid diet on Nov. 13. Can anyone tell me what protein shakes are good and won't leave an after taste? I have tried Muscle Milk so far, blah! So good to know there are so many others like me out in the world. I am so excited yet scared at the same time. Two more weeks for me before the plunge!
  3. I am a type 1 diabetic for 24 years. My lap band surgery is scheduled for Nov. 23, 2009. It is fast approaching and I am getting nervous about blood glucose control during pre-surgery liquid diet and post surgery overall. Can anyone share some feedback, tips, etc... on blood glucose control for type 1 diabetes for pre and post surgery? I would really appreciate it. I am not scared of the surgery more scared of controling the blood sugars and the healing process.
