  1. I don't think that I have one, but I just want to know if anybody can tell me what it would feel like. I am not vomiting. I am just worried and want to know if I will know. From what I read, there is usually vomiting involved, but is there always vomiting? Is there any other symptoms? Again, I am just very worried about it slipping. I paid for my surgury myself and I am paranoid that my band might slip and have to be fixed. I would just die, because I can't afford to fix it too! It would make me feel so much better if you guys could let me know. I know there are some members that have had to have their bands replaced due to slippage, I would love to hear what you all experienced. Thank you so very much, Kristina

    Cincy weight loss center

VickiW, Congratulations to you also! I think the things that are working the best for me is that I am diligent about getting my fills as needed, I stay away from starchy carbs as much as possible and I try very, very hard not to graize. I was definitely a volume eater before my surgery, so now that I am getting full on 1/3 that I use to eat, the weight loss seems almost effortless. My band is my absolute very best friend!!! I always try to keep in mind that it is a tool, but it is definitely a top of the line heck of a tool that works very, very well! I hope this helps. You keep up the good work also. 71 pounds is awesome! If your sugery was about 36 weeks ago, then you have definitely lost the 1-2 pound average. I hope I continue to do this well, but I anticipate that I will wear a swim suit this summer and feel pretty darn good in it too!!!

Ohio Bandsters - who was your surgeon?

Hello Everyone!!! I had my band placed in August of 2006 and I want to shout to the world what wonderful changes that it has brought into my life!!!! I have lost 40 pounds so far and I am over half way to my goal! I feel like a million bucks and I have Cincinnati Weight Loss Center to thank for it! Dr. Osborne is the surgeon that placed my band, however, I have met Dr. Mobley and have absolutely wonderful things to say about them both. As someone else mentioned, Dr. Mobley has the band himself and he just oozes with passion about his beloved band. He has been there and understands how hard the struggle with obesity really is!! If anyone is even remotely considering having lap-band surgery, I highly reccomend that they indeed go to Cincinnati Weight Loss Center as I did. They have wonderful support groups that are full of information and keys to success. Cincinnati Weight Loss Center has the answer for obesity! Halleluiah!! :clap2: I hope that people can see that before they waste anymore of their life wishing it away!!! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ banded 8/23/06 199/159:clap2: /125

  7. Hi everyone. I was banded Wednesday Aug. 23, 2006. I am just wanting to know, how did everyone survive the post-op liquid diet? I am SOOOO hungry! I have been drinking the Adkins Advantage drinks and eating jello, broth and applesauce in-between but I am miserably hungry! Am I the only one with this problem? I asked the nurse at my doctors office and she said this is the time of "lapband hell" because there is not any restriction yet and I am going on willpower alone, but I don't have much willpower. If I had it, I wouldn't have needed to be banded in the first place. Also, I read a couple of posts that people placed about having to have second surguries to fix kinks, slippages and leaks. I am petrified of this now because I paid for my surgury for myself and I certainly cannot afford to have a second surgury. I bend over many, many times during the day picking up after my four little kids, does anyone know if this will cause any of the above problems to happen? I am paranoid now that these things are going to happen if they haven't already. (I have been picking up after them already). Thank you in advance for all of your replies, I am anxious to hear from you.

    ABC ~ October Chat

Hello Everyone! So sorry I've been gone for so long, but I have had so many wonderful things going on that I am anxious to share with all of you. I am a Registered Nurse and a few weeks after my band was placed, the doctor's office that my placed my band called me and asked me if I might be interested in coming to work for them!! So, now I am working at their office doing fills, consults, seminars etc. I am sooooo happy. I love being able to integrate something that is such an important part of my life (the band) with my work also. It is important to the doctors that their nurse be able to give their patients more than just factual info They want to give their patients actual first hand experience too! I can understand that totally. This job fits my personality so well because I am so happy with the band that I just can't say enough good things about it. Plus, I am losing weight in the process! I am such a lucky girl!!! Hope everyone is doing well also!

    PacifiCare Sucks!

L8BloomR- My surgury was 8/23/06. I am still doing well, but still worrying. I can't wait till we are senior memebers too and skinny senior members at that!!!

    PacifiCare Sucks!

I think Funny Duddies is right, I think the insurance companies do that because they have to pay for less surguries this way. A lot of people aren't willing to wait and go through all of that first. Like you said too, what happens if you do lose some weight, then they probably wouldn't let you have it done anyway and you might gain it back after you go off of their supervised diets. I didn't ask about the complications. I only thought of that deeply, after I had the surgury which wasn't exactly smart of me. Unlkie your situation, my process happened very quickly..... I am sure this is because I paid for it myself. I didn't have to see a psychologist, nutritionist, etc. That is something that the insurance companies require but not the surgeon. In fact I got financing one week and was banded the next. I have been very worried lately about complications though. I planned to ask my surgeon on my post op visit on Wednesday. Everything seems to be fine, but I had posted the other day wondering if my band does slip, would I know it??? I have been extra worried about that and having a leaky port etc., because I paid for it myself. I can't afford for them to go back in again. I will let you know what I find out.
  11. :help: DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A DRINK THAT WILL HELP GET ME THROUGH TO SOLIDS THAT WILL HELP ME WITH THE HUNGER BUT WILL BE SUPPORTIVE OF MY WEIGHT LOSS? I WAS BANDED 8/23/06 AND SINCE THE SECOND DAY, I HAVE BEEN RAVENOUS!!! I AM ALLOWED FULL LIQUIDS NOW AND I WAS DRINKING SLIM FAST OPTIMA WHICH I LIKE, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE BEST DRINK TO SUPPORT WEIGHT LOSS? I BOUGHT A DRINK FROM GNC THAT IS A "SMOOTHIE" WITH LESS CARBS AND LESS CALORIES AND SUGAR, BUT IT IS JUST NOT VERY TASTY. IN FACT IT LEAVES A HORRIBLE AFTER TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH. I JUST FIGURE IT IS BETTER TO DRINK ONE OF THESE HEALTH DRINKS INSTEAD OF DRINKING FATTENING LIQUIDS LIKE BROTH, SUGAR-FREE PUDDINGS ETC. THAT DON'T FILL ME UP. I REALLY DON'T BELIEVE MY HUNGER IS MENTAL EITHER BECAUSE MY STOMACH IS GROWLING SO LOUD. I AM TRYING SO HARD NOT TO GRAZE ON BAD THINGS AND IT WOULD REALLY HELP IF I COULD FIND A SATISFYING DRINK THAT WOULD TAME MY HUNGER AND SUPPORT MY WEIGHT LOSS. PLEASE, PLEASE SEND YOUR ADVICE MY WAY. THANK YOU EVERYONE! :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

    PacifiCare Sucks!

I have just been recently been banded and I did pay for it myself. Capital One and Wells Fargo do Health Care Financing. I went through Capital One. My employer plan thru the insurance company does not cover any bariatric surgury either, no questions. I don't think I will ever be sorry that I finance it though. I should be getting a big break on my taxes next year because of it. If you have healthcare costs greater than 7.5% of your gross adjusted income, you get to take a couple of thousand off your taxes. Just something to consider. Good Luck!

Is There A Miracle Drink Anyone????

GE mom Where do you get protein powder? Can you buy that at Wal-Mart?

Is There A Miracle Drink Anyone????

I saw the isopure at the GNC store and I almost got that, but I was concerned about having too much protein??? Isn't too much bad on your kidneys? I don't know really how much is too much, but if I was thinking if I drink it a couple of times a day, it might be too much protein? Is the carnation and boost bad for sugar and carbs? Thank you so much for all of your replies. I am so thankful to have people who know what I am going through to turn to with my questions. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    SODA - The forbidden fruit

Mommy0105: I Am Sooooooo With You On The Soda Thing. Before My Surgury (just Last Week), I Was A Diet Cokeaholic! I Don't Smoke, But This Was Just As Additictive To Me As A Cigarettes Are To Smokers. I Knew This Would Be Hard. I Don't Know How I Am Going To Fight It Too. I Think I Will Still Drink Some, But Just Cut It Down Dramatically. I Will Just Take A Couple Of Sips A Day. Just Typing This Is Making My Mouth Water For It. I Am In Trouble! I Will Have To Fight That Just As Hard As Food. This Is Definitely Not An Easy Way Out!

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Surby: I am so sorry about your nausea. I was banded the day before you, but I have not had any experiences like you at all. Just hunger and pain. Are you taking your pain meds? I am wondering if you might be allergice to that? I am usually sick easily, in fact when I was pregnant last year I had to be put on a subucatenous zofran pump which cost $200 a day. That sounds like the same med you were given, I just had to have it in injectable form.

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Joliesmom: Did the person that talked to you tell you what her symptoms were with the slipped band? I am just curious to know if it happened, would I know that it happened? I am paranoid of this or of having a leaky port because I paid for my surgury myself. I cannot afford for them to go back in. Yesterday I was reading about somebody's port flipping inside. My port hurts with a deep pain also, not just incisional so I am worried that might have happened to me because I am bending and lifting a lot for my kids. Chrissie- I am so with you on those hunger pains. I am SOOOOOO hungry. I have not eaten any solids, but I have taken in some mushies a little early like cottage cheese, so this is why I am interested in the slippage issue. I did go to GNC to buy some Protein drinks to help with the hunger and hopefully help with the weight loss too, but they are just not too tasty. I don't think they do that well with the hunger either. They work for about an hour and they I am ravenous. I feel like I have a freakish enormous appetite because I don't read where too many people are having difficulty with hunger pains thru this liquid stage. I want to eat so bad!
