I started my lapband journey in the summer of 2008, I have a friend that had a co-worker that had the by-pass which came with several complications for her. I did some research and decided on the lap-band surgery would be the option that I would choose for myself. I was laid off from my job in July of 08, so I had no insurance coverage. After some research I decided to fly to Cancun, Mexico for the surgery. I booked my flight and hotel reservations a couple of months before the surgery, I was emailed my pre-op diet to follow. I was able to loose 30 lbs. on the pre-op diet to help shrink my liver. My brother and I hopped a flight out of ATL,Ga to Cancun,Mexico on 09-17-09 . We were met at the airport and were transported to our hotel, the next morning we were transported to the Galinea hospital. After some chest x-rays and some bloodwork I was taken too surgery, a while later I woke up in recovery and was informed that everything went well, I was up walking a few hours later. The next day around lunch I was released from the hospital .That was seventeen days ago, there are no support groups around my neck of the woods so I decided to try this.
