  1. Hi there! I was recently approved and SHOCKED. My BMI is low (35) for this surgery and I don't have any co-morbid conditions. Everything happened so fast, I was approved and they wanted to do surgery the beginning of the next week. I had to take a min. to sit down and think it all through (because I honestly thought there was no way that I would get approved), so I am planning on having the surgery in December. For those of you that this is happening really fast, I would recommend taking some time to think about it. It allows you to get organized at work and really think about the lifestyle changes. I feel much better about it now and am really excited to join all of you on your journey to health!
  2. I am 24 and a full-time student (but I also work full-time). I have been approved, but not banded yet. Excited to get to know the members in this group!
  3. Congrats! I was recently approved and have also had second thoughts. After I went through all the diets, dr visits, mandatory support groups, etc--my dr's office told me that there was no way I would be approved. On a whim, their insurance girl decided to submit anyways (I didn't even know!). She called me 2 weeks ago during lunch and told me I was approved. I think she was in as much shock as I was!! Because I had made peace with lap-band not being an option, I was floored. I went through the emotions of not knowing what to do, but ultimately decided that this is the right thing for me. Cheers to a healthier tomorrow!

So I am new to this group-joined this morning. The short of my story is that I, like everyone else, have had numerous failed weight loss attempts. I have thought about lap-band for a while. After dieting for my "physician directed weight loss program", I lost around 70lbs. I have gained some back...going from my heaviest of 296 to my smallest 230 (this morning I weighed ~245). Yesterday, to my surprise, I was notified that my surgery has been approved. Because I lost so much weight on my own, I am suddenly conflicted not knowing if I should keep up the work I am doing or if I should move forward with the lap band. This is a lifelong decision and I am terrified. For those of you who have already had the surgery... Was anyone else really scared going into this? I am 24-y-o....are there other members my age who have done the surgery? Anyone else around my same weight who has done it---Do you regret it? If there was one thing that you wished you had known prior to surgery, what would it be? Would love to hear your thoughts... Sarah
