Me, Banded last Tuesday, 10/20 and still off. Kaiser Perm gives 1 month off. I think I may take the entire time. I'm still moving slow, I have a 14 month old and I teach Special Education. Not a desk job at all. I do not want to injure myself. Question??? How much have everyone lost so far???

Riley, Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to get worried. Will I ever be able to wear fitted tees and clothing again? You are so funny and right! It feels like a small baseball in there! LOL. I am relieved to know that it will go down. Thanks for the assurance. I almost fell off this morning. I stopped at Starbuck and bought a Tall Carmel Macchiato. I tasted it and drank about 3oz and thought it tasted absolutely horrible....Certainly not worth wasting my calories with liquid...You all should be proud...I actually poured it out!!!! Imagine that! Me, pouring a $3.20 Carmel Macchiato out?????? Maybe I have lost the taste for it....I sure hope so because it was a very costly habit. Okay, so I'm so lazy. I think I over did it yesterday and now I'm in bed. We are having our entire house baseboards re-placed and I had to remove everything from every closet floor. I actually did minimal work while my mother and step-father did most. I did try to help. I was just up longer than I should have been and off of the meds for a good portion of the day. I'm back on now. When they say take the Lortab every 3 hours....they mean it! You may start hurting at 2hrs, 59minutes!!! Later...................

Hello everyone! I've been around. Reading but not posting. I am still adjusting to my new band. I am still not used to it poking out. Is this going to always be like this or is it because of the swelling? I would like to try to meet you all. Is anyone going to the Richmond support group meeting next week???? Anyway, I'm marking my spot and getting ready to drop and roll on the kids...School and daycare. LOL

I'm trying to come meet you all on 11/14. We have prior plans but I may be able to do both. What time are you all meeting??? How much weight did you all lose in the first few weeks? Months???

Hey ladies and gent! I am in better spirits today. Don't ask about yesterday....It's over! Anyway, I went to my ob/gyn today and they weighed me! Guess what??? I have lost 6.9lbs according to Kaiser's scale since surgery last Tuesday. I am a tiny bit more motivated. Maybe the pain is worth it! How long is this damn port going to be swollen. It still hurts quite a bit and it's black and blue but....dang it!!! I hurts and feels yucky. When is it going to just blend in and go unnoticed?? I have another confession to make... I am eating regular jello, not sugar free. I also bought regular cream soups. I just had my first serving for lunch today. I had cream of broccoli. I did use regular milk and blended it to liquid, with no particles. I ate 1/2 cup. The amounts I'm eating are all appropriate...just not the sugar or fat content. Is this really bad???

Hi Heather, Heidi and all! Yes, we are going to do this!!! We have no choice. There is no turning back now! I went to my ob/gyn today and I was weighted. I have lost 6.9lbs since last Tuesday. I have to admit...I am not doing the no sugar thing. I have been eating regular Jello, not sugar free. Today, I had regular cream of broccoli, not no/low or fat free. I have to have something. However, I am still losing weight! We will all have to give up our love affair with food and love someone else....Hey, how about ourselves and our new bodies???? Heather is right! We have to learn to eat to live, NOT live to eat!!!!

I'm no expert but....it sounds like you have gas! I had the same thing and the pain was alieviated with Gas X strips. I hope you feel better. I too am on the 2 weeks of full liquids and I suck at it. I just blew it this evening after doing so well all day. I am a bit mad at myself and promise to do better tomorrow!

Heather, I just noticed that we are about the same in everything. My highest weight was 255...At the start of me enrolling in the Bariatric program. I am 5'5, highest wt. 255, surgery day I was 219.5....Yesterday, I was 217. My goal is 150 too. We will probably lose at the same rate. That is if I can stop being a dummy and follow the program.

Hi Heather! Can I join your pity party??? Okay, so I know exactly how you feel. I just blew it in a major way. I'm sure I will pay for it shortly. I was banded last Tuesday, 10/20 too! and I can't believe someone else is having the exact same feelings as me at the same damn time. Sad for you but glad to see I am not the only one! I just went downstairs to feel my baby and sit with the family while they ate, carne asada, chicken wings from the grill, rice and beans... and I planned to eat my Cream of Broccoli Soup when I got hungary. Unfortunately, I was hungary and tasted the carne asada...Why did I do that???? I said I am hungary. I took out a 2oz container and filled it with rice, Beans and carne asada...and AND I ATE IT!!!! I am so scared now. I am mad at myself!!!! I hope I make it through this okay and free of pain. I know exactly how you feel regarding telling others. Have you spoken to that family member and did they know that it wasn't to be told...and that you were not telling everybody??? That is so foul! You have every right to be upset. I would be too. I have a co-worker who can't hold Water. If you don't want others to know...You better not tell her....Shit! Excuse my french. How are you now? You can always send me a private messege and we can keep in touch with each others progress. I think I need a buddy too. Maybe it will help us to stay on track....:thumbup:

I know exactly how he feels. I had my banding on Tuesday and here it is Friday and I am still in alot of pain. The liquid Vicodin/Lortab does help but when it wears off...OMG! The port site hurts so much. I keep hearing that it gets better by the day...But, just not yet. Tell him to walk around, put heating pads over the incisions and stay on the meds. I just requested more because I do not want to run out over the weekend. I am going to buy some liquid Tylenol in the morning...Just in case. Tell him to hang in there. This too shall pass. Just think of the outcome. I just went into my closet and tried on some skinny clothes. Eventhough I feel horrible, it made me feel a tiny bit better...Knowing that it won't be long before I can fit them and then be able to buy new ones. Keep us posted and God bless....................:blushing:

Hi Jes-Yes, I do have my binder and knew that the reccomended day to shower was 2 days. However, I searched and asked a few on here about that and everyone said it would be okay if you didn't scrub and just let the water rinse over the incisions. I also did the reverse turn and let the direct flow of the water hit my back. I was very careful. Regarding the 16oz. That was the total for the morning. I have no idea where it is going. I told you I was a bit hungary and have no problem drinking liquids. LOL! Makes me think there is no band. Just his awful soreness and port.... I know something is happening because I truly have not been hungary today. I just had 2oz of jello and I'm satisfied and finished for the night. Several people said they did not restrict their liquid intake while on Stage 1. How much are you up to and what are you eating??? I called Robin today to see if I am to move on to Stage II tomorrow. Tomorrow is my day 3, post-op. I am so ready for some grits. She was doing her afternoon calls and was not available. I had to leave her a voicemail messege. When did you start Stage II??? Do I still have to wait for her to move me on??? I know you have to between StageII and Stage III.

Okay, okay I will not be having anymore chicken wings! I don't want Jes and Candra coming for me! When can I expect this darn port to stop hurting. I look to be about 7 months pregnant. I can't wait for the swelling to go down. I did shower last night. It was wonderful. I could not stand myself. I just let the warm water wash over the insicions. Noting happened to the glue. I am not even hungary today. I did have approx. 16oz of chicken broth today and I'm sipping on some caffiene free peach tea. I feel some bowel activity. TMI, but.... how soon did you all have a bowel movement. I think mine will be liquid....I hear some churrning!!!

Good Morning All, The night was uneventful. I slept a tiny bit better. I am getting used to sleeping on my side and even slept on my back for a while. It still remains very painful to turn over and get out of the bed. I may try the recliner for my naps today. Candra, do you know where Concord, Martinez, or Antioch is??? Pittsburg is near there. Where are you??? Why? Are you coming over??? LOL Hope all are well............

Hi, Thanks Candra and Pam for the replies. I think I will be sleeping in the recliner tonight and many nights. The bed is awful. I think yesterday I was super hungary due to head hunger. Also, my husband made himself some fried chicken wings. Don't tell but... I ate 1/2 of a wing. Never have I chewed something so many times. I got scared and stopped before I ate the entire wing. I love chicken wings. It doesn't bother me for him to eat because I know by summer...I will be hott!!!!!! Today, I'm not so hungary. I am drinking chicken broth, raspberry jello and I had a sip of decaf coffee this morning. Just a sip too because it was Jack-in-the-crack coffee and I am a Starbucks girl. I do have to stop measuring my liquids though. Because that 1oz every 15 minutes. Isn't enough. Even with 4cc in my band! Do you all stick to sugar-free stuff? My jello is regular.

Hello All, Candra-Congrats on the 11lbs! I am so bloated and up 3-4lbs since yesterday. I know this is temporary and probably water weight. Reggie-yes I'm posting already. I wanted to let you all know how I was doing asap. Thanks I am so bloated and my port site is hurting really bad. How long will this last. I get stiff after sitting for a long time. I barely slept last night. I know the first night is hard and hope it gets better real soon. The saving grace is that my babies are at my mom's house until the weekend. I will probably get them back home Saturday afternoon. My mom will need a break and to prepare for work on Monday. I did have my husband drive me to my personnel office to turn in my Dr slip for work and I had to fill out a work release form. I am back home and in bed now. Just took more meds and I'm beginning to get sleepy. My husband has to go to work for a few minutes so I should be able to get some sleep. I am having my stepfather bring my oldest daughter home at 2:20pm so I can comb her hair and then take her back with him. I have never been away from my babies this long. I miss them so much. Questions???:thumbup: Okay, so I'm really hungary. Do I have to stick to 1oz every 15 minutes???? I can I drink the clear liquids more freely??? How long will the port be swollen??? I would love to go to the support group meeting tonight! If I could make it!!!! Somebody come get me! I'm in Pittsburg. LOL:tongue:

I had my surgery this morning too! I don't know about you but...I'm Hungary!!!! i have been sipping on 1oz chicken broth but I want the whole cup!!!! Hope all are well...

Good Afternoon Peps! I am banded~ It wasn't so bad. The worst part was the IV and the gas in my left shoulder. I am a tiny bit sore and I imagine it will get worse tomorrow. I just took my first dose of liquid Vicodin. I am going to try to take a nap in a few minutes. That hospital sleep is not the best. My house is quiet. The hubby is outside messing with his bike and my kids are safe, elsewhere. They will be spending a few nights at my moms! Thank God for her. I could not imagine life without her..... I was finished at around 10:10am and in recovery for 1 1/2 hours. Next I did the x-ray.... Then Dr Fisher came about 12:40pm and discussed the procedure with me. I had a hernea that he repaired/removed. Didn't know! I was released at 1:00pm and home at 2:00pm. I am still reeling and cant believe it's done! Thanks for all the support! I will check in later.

Opps, I forgot to say that I have 4cc's in my band....it's half way full! Also, I have a question?????? I am hungary! Can I drink more broth/liquid than 1oz/hour if it doesn't hurt! How much did you all really drink. Can I have Gas X strips???????

MY LAST MEAL...Skipolini's Preggo pizza, whose trying to induce labor....With real pink lemonade. Dessert... a single scoop sundae from Baskin and Robbins..... I also have the squirts! How come you all didn't tell me the Milk of Magnesia has that effect???? I have already had my shower and boy am I ready. I am the 1st surgery! I have to be there at 6:30am...They said we start at 8:00am. I should be in route home by 12 noon. I will update you all asap!!! Wish me luck............
