  1. I don't snack, and it gives me the most amazing feeling of control...... weird, I know!!
  2. Two pieces of advice: 1) EXERCISE! I was losing slowly, but since I've started a real exercise program, it's coming off much quicker! 2) Be aggressive with your fills. It took 5 fills for me, and I could still stand to be a little tighter. You will not believe how your life will change! I just returned from a trip to Washington, DC with over 100 people, and I had NO PROBLEM keeping up. I could go on and on and on....... the difference is AMAZING!!
  3. Wow, that's pretty incredible. I was cash pay, and I paid $13K. Much better!! No wonder our insurance is so crazy!!
  4. My trainer has told me that with my diet and all the exercise, if I'm not getting AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep every night that my body is not going to re-build itself. She said it was a HUGE mistake to not get enough sleep right now!! It's probably your body saying, "REST PLEASE!!"
  5. I eat a green salad with chicken salad on top almost every single day, and I had never had a problem before. Guess in 8 months, I have never had good restriction either!! Woo hoo! I love restriction!! LOL!!
  6. I definitely don't sweat as much, but I'm not getting cold that much either. Guess I'm at a happy medium. Princess doesn't like to sweat! ))
  7. Thanks for your responses. It is much better today. I brought home my chicken soulvaki from last night, and I ate it for lunch with no sliming!! Maybe I was just more careful?? I have been somewhat of a slow loser because I've never really had good restriction. I've lost 50 pounds since August, but I have 50 to go. I have started exercising though, and I've noticed the weight coming off MUCH faster!! Hope I never do the slime-thing again!!!!!
  8. OK, so I've read a zillion posts about sliming, but didn't really pay attention because I've never experienced it! I was banded in August, and I went for my 5th fill on Wednesday. I started eating normal foods again yesterday. I slimed BIG TIME after eating a salad at lunch and then even worse at a restaurant last night. I finally had to leave. I kept going to the restroom to spit........UGH! What's up with that? Does it mean I'm too tight?? Will I always do this?? :paranoid
  9. One word: EXERCISE (I HATE it too, but the difference in weight loss is simply amazing!)
  10. One word: EXERCISE (i
  11. I just had my FIFTH fill today. My port is usually tilted too, but it's no big deal. It does move around in there, and my doc says that's perfectly normal. Thank goodness for fluoro!!
  12. Those first 3 or 4 weeks were HELL for me! I was STARVING and so nauseated all the time. You'll look back on it and wonder how you managed to survive, but trust me, IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT!! Hang in there...... it'll be over before you know it. It took me 4 fills and 3 months to get restriction!
  13. I had very similar symptoms, and it turned out to be a severe sinus infection, of all things!! I thought I would die from the jaw pain!!! Hope you get it resolved!
  14. I'm so so very glad to hear from my fellow August bandsters!! We must be a small group! I've hit the 50 pound mark. I didn't get a really good fill until November, and I have finally been able to start exercising. It has made a big difference!! I go Wednesday for another fill (#5). The doc told me that as we lose visceral fat, the band needs to be tightened! People are FINALLY starting to notice my weight loss....... I've gone from a tight size 22 to a size 16! Woo hooo!!!!!!
  15. My trainer is only $150 month and that includes full use of the cardio equipment anytime/any day. The personal training sessions are 3 days a week, and it's a lot of weight training.... some free weights, some bands, and some machines. Of course you don't have to pay to get this, but it sure did get my butt in gear!!!
  16. I'm with you!!!!!! I have 5.5 pounds left to go!! I did an extra 15 minutes on the treadmill today. Gotta bump it up a little to get there I guess!!!
  17. Well, well, well, it's true!! Exercise does work!! I've been banded for 8 months, and the weight is coming off slowly but surely; however, I have had NO TIME (literally) to exercise. I couldn't even fit in a 20 minute walk. Now that my schedule isn't as packed, I joined a gym and got a short-term personal trainer. OH MY GOSH the weight is falling off now! I am amazed!! I know everyone knows in their head that exercise makes a difference, but I would give anything if I'd been able to start before now!! Soooo, my point is, if at all possible, GO OUT AND DO IT!! Get some vigorous exercise, and you'll be amazed!!! :clap2:
  18. Took me 4 fills............ almost time for another one!
  19. Took me 4 fills.......... it's actually time for another one!!!
  20. No regrets, but my doc is a conservative "filler" too! Makes weight loss oh so slow!!!!
  21. My last straw was a double whammy. My perfectly healthy, normal weight mom had a catastrophic stroke which paralyzed her left side. My thinking was: 1) I WILL have a stroke if I don't lose weight....... she was the perfect size and still had a stroke and 2) for 1 1/2 years, we have had to lift her to do everything. We have been able to keep her home and do this with round the clock help, BUT if she were my size, we would never be able to lift her ourselves, and she would have to go into a nursing home. I don't want to put my own daughter through that!!
  22. I could still eat large amounts of food until after my 4th fill....... there was so little restriction that the food would pass right thru my pouch. Now that I have restriction, I can tell a huge difference! I'm sure you're fine, but don't take those risks!!

You can DEFINITELY have a PB before your fill.......... that's the only time I've done it!!!!!
  24. It took me 4 fills. Really isn't about the number of fills, but the amount your doc is giving you. My doc was way conservative, but his PA did my last one "aggressively," and it is WONDERFUL! I have never PB'ed or even felt that I was going to, so I think I might be at the perfect spot...... the sweet spot. I would like to get just a teeny tiny bit of a fill though because I can still eat an entire piece of pizza. I might give it another month or so! Be patient! It does take time!
  25. My thighs are no longer saying, "excuse me, pardon me, excuse me, pardon me......."
