    needing help

Hello...My name is Sue and I live in Salem, Oregon. I was banded on Nov. 5 2009 at OHSU in Portland. Most important things to remember....my friend. Your only a few weeks out, your body is changing, as well as your thought process. Going from 2.2 cc's to 4 is more than what alot of Doctors are willing to do, so you are ahead of the program. OHSU only goes .5ccs. Make sure you get as much protein as you can daily, at this point I would think at least 50 grams. It helps with your hunger and reduces your bodys stress. I buy UNJURY on line, unjury.com. It is medically the best you can buy and tastes the best also. Go there right now, in fact if you would like I have some unflavored I would give you. Also some Chicken Soup flavor. You can add it to anything to boost the protein. Add it to broth or mashed potatoes, your milk. It can't be added to anything that is over 130 degrees cause it turns grainy, so just heat hot things to that. You should be sipping at all times except 15 minutes before, during, and 15 minutes after eating. Try to fill your stomach with fluids before you sit down to eat. Than take SMALL sips of your protein drink. It should take you at least 15-20 minutes to finish. That way your brain can actually register you ate something. Don't wait so long before meals, you don't want to get to the "hungry as a wild animal" lol. This is NOT a Quick Fix process, you want the weight to come off slow, about 6 lbs. a month. It gives your metabolisum time to reset. MOVE, MOVE MOVE! exercise makes EVERYTHING better! I don't mean to come off as a drill sargent, sorry if you take it that way. But you must take baby steps, your changing your Life Style. Make sure your kind to yourself, be positive in your thinking. Your a good person and this forum is your best connection to people who are or have experienced what you are right now. Use us, we want you to succeed! Blessings, Sue Ps. If you would like to hear more, just let me know. Also OHSU has free classes for lapband, so check out their website.

    After Eye Surgery

Thank you ! I have been doing well!
  3. Hi Judy........Just read your new blog. The Carribean wow! What a wonderful trip. I am jealous lol. Isn't it great to go through your closet and actually fit into clothes you loved. I won't have to shop to much for a while myself. Have a GREAT time and ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!!!!!

The headache was from the gases rising in my body. I'm doing great, and feeling wonderful. Just had an injection in my hip, and it has made a major difference. I hired a personal trainer and am concentrating on my hip fat lol. That's where I carry most of my weight unfortunately. I need to be the best I can because I am considered high risk. I have an auto-ammune factor and my skin has a hard time healing. I'm ready to GO!!!!Blessings,

    Sue

  6. Hi there Judy........My surgery went well thank you. I am having very little pain, just a headache that won't stay gone. How is your journey so far? Keep in touch.......this is so much fun lol! Sue

  7. Hello......yes I am resting and healing. My surgery went just as planned, my pain is limited, just a headache that won't leave me alone. Thank you so much for your encouragement, I really appreciate it. How goes your journey? Keep in touch. Sue

  8. I made it, and it went fairly easily. My only real pain is from the migraine I woke up with from surgery. It keeps rebounding darn it. How goes your journey?

  12. I made it just fine......how about you? My only pain has been a migraine headache that keeps rebounding (icky).

  13. I just wanted to thank you for setting up the November 2009 Bandsters. It has been such an inspiration to me, my little connection to others with some of the same challenges.

    My nephew...

Wow......I thought this was your son at first glance. You have the same blue eyes.
  15. I'm getting nervous......Thursday Nov. 5th is MY DAY (and a few others I believe) I haven't had a pre-op diet so I'm trying to stock my shelves. I know from experience, being prepared is an absolute. You get too hungry, you turn into a wild animal and get all crazy lol. Do any of you take medications? I'm still concerned about spreading them out during the day, and some are fairly large.
  16. Good Morning......How are you doing with your band so far? Have read your blog, and wish you the very best!

    Blessings,

    Sue

  17. Hello Judy, I hope your surgery went well. Mine is thursday the 5th. We'll have to stay connected.

    Blessings,

    Sue

  18. Hello Shelley, thank you for your encouragement. I would be happy to keep in touch with you. Seems like everyone is younger on here. It's nice to find someone similar in age.

  19. Hello Brenda....Yes I am nervous! I'm feeling a few different things actually. I have done more snacking the last few days than I have the last month, what's up with that? I am not on a pre-op diet and have lost 30 lbs. since March so I have done well considering I'm temporarily disabled ( I desperately need hip replacement). I just take it one day at a time, and don't beat myself up over the extra snacking, but it is a little confusing. Also I take alot of meds (about 9-12 pills a day) and trying to decide how to deal with that. Otherwise I am eager to get this event started....3 days and counting, hurrah!!!!!!

    Blessings,

    Sue

  20. Hello Liz...I have 7 days to go, yeah. I was wondering how you are doing? I am a little worried after reading all of your posts. Makes me wonder if I'll have a good experience.

  21. Good Morning all..........I will be banded on the 5th of Nov. and am thrilled. I don't need any last hurrah, my life has already changed. We are all just snowflakes, everyone of us are different, and we must each choose our own way. Be true to yourself:thumbup:.
  22. Seriously try Unjury, the stuff is great. No carbs, no sugar, and 20 grams of protein for 80 calories. Totally satifies your hunger and your sweet tooth at the same time. Great for quick meal., and they're about $1 a serving. They also have chicken soup. I'm so glad you are off the vicodin. And shame on those nurses, They were probably planning their weekend. Thank God for the Angels that take over. Keep the spirits up and info coming.

  23. You go girl!!!!!! I agree totally with the being ok with banding before the holidays. I know I will miss a few traditional favorites. But I remember feeling sick when I ate to much, which was too much of the time. I am ready to change my eating habits with no regrets. And I have a great start on that and I feel so much better.
  24. Congratulations!!!!!! I too remember when that happened for me. I feel your excitement and am doing the happy dance with you lol.
