  1. Hello...My name is Sue and I live in Salem, Oregon. I was banded on Nov. 5 2009 at OHSU in Portland. Most important things to remember....my friend. Your only a few weeks out, your body is changing, as well as your thought process. Going from 2.2 cc's to 4 is more than what alot of Doctors are willing to do, so you are ahead of the program. OHSU only goes .5ccs. Make sure you get as much protein as you can daily, at this point I would think at least 50 grams. It helps with your hunger and reduces your bodys stress. I buy UNJURY on line, unjury.com. It is medically the best you can buy and tastes the best also. Go there right now, in fact if you would like I have some unflavored I would give you. Also some Chicken Soup flavor. You can add it to anything to boost the protein. Add it to broth or mashed potatoes, your milk. It can't be added to anything that is over 130 degrees cause it turns grainy, so just heat hot things to that. You should be sipping at all times except 15 minutes before, during, and 15 minutes after eating. Try to fill your stomach with fluids before you sit down to eat. Than take SMALL sips of your protein drink. It should take you at least 15-20 minutes to finish. That way your brain can actually register you ate something. Don't wait so long before meals, you don't want to get to the "hungry as a wild animal" lol. This is NOT a Quick Fix process, you want the weight to come off slow, about 6 lbs. a month. It gives your metabolisum time to reset. MOVE, MOVE MOVE! exercise makes EVERYTHING better! I don't mean to come off as a drill sargent, sorry if you take it that way. But you must take baby steps, your changing your Life Style. Make sure your kind to yourself, be positive in your thinking. Your a good person and this forum is your best connection to people who are or have experienced what you are right now. Use us, we want you to succeed! Blessings, Sue Ps. If you would like to hear more, just let me know. Also OHSU has free classes for lapband, so check out their website.
  2. I'm getting nervous......Thursday Nov. 5th is MY DAY (and a few others I believe) I haven't had a pre-op diet so I'm trying to stock my shelves. I know from experience, being prepared is an absolute. You get too hungry, you turn into a wild animal and get all crazy lol. Do any of you take medications? I'm still concerned about spreading them out during the day, and some are fairly large.
  3. Good Morning all..........I will be banded on the 5th of Nov. and am thrilled. I don't need any last hurrah, my life has already changed. We are all just snowflakes, everyone of us are different, and we must each choose our own way. Be true to yourself:thumbup:.
  4. You go girl!!!!!! I agree totally with the being ok with banding before the holidays. I know I will miss a few traditional favorites. But I remember feeling sick when I ate to much, which was too much of the time. I am ready to change my eating habits with no regrets. And I have a great start on that and I feel so much better.
  5. Congratulations!!!!!! I too remember when that happened for me. I feel your excitement and am doing the happy dance with you lol.
  6. Black out sounds like something to do with war. Glad your new date works better for you. Yes you will be a new you in the new year, as will all the November Bandsters. Let's hear it for 2010!! But first we need to concentrate and get through the rest of this one lol. Good luck to you.
  7. Good Morning November Bandsters!! We're getting CLOSER, and I'm getting more anxious. Welcome to the site Tammy, you will find we are all on the same journey. I just had my pre-op appointment, and I was given several samples of protein drinks. My favorite is Unjury(YUM), hands down! I have already placed, and recieved my order. You have to order online at www.unjury.com but it is easy, and it was here in 2 days! They sell individual packets, so you owe it to yourself to give it a try. My weight loss has just stopped, I teeter back and forth 2-3 lbs. I must say I'm dissappointed, maybe I just need to try harder. My problem is I'm disabled because I need hip replacement, and I can't have that until I loose more weight. Anyone have ideas?
  8. Stacy...... What fun you will have. I haven't had a girls vacation since June, I'm jealous lol. Thank you for your comment about soda, see we are helping each other. Everytime I visit this site I am inspired! How nice to have friends who are going through the same adventure, to support and encourage one another. I would like to add you to my friends list so we can stay in touch. In fact I think I'll ask all of the November Bandsters to be on my friends list. Where are you going in California? If I don't talk to you again before you leave, " Have a GREAT time!". Blessings, Sue
  9. Good morning November Bandsters! I'm so glad to meet all of you, everyone is so focused on being successful. Thank you for your inspiration, I am really fired up today:biggrin:. As soon as I had my orientation, I started being more aware of portions and my choices. I have taken it very slow. Smaller portions when I filled my plate (not every time though) cutting down on carbonated beverages ( that was actually not TOO hard, because I was not a BIG pop drinker, maybe 2 a day) and drinking more Water. I started Sit and be fit (still haven't made that regularly) started reading, still reading and joined this site. This site is one of the best things I have done! I have lost 23 lbs since April:smile:. At this point I can say I have conquered carbonated beverages ( I still think about it, but can now say, "I don't drink that anymore"). I'm starting to measure SOME of my portions lol, and have joined Calorie Count. They have great recipes and you can save the one's you like. I also use Free Meal Planner from About.com, which is a great feature for me. Sorry this has turned into more of a blog.......I guess I tend to share a lot, I'm like a glass house lol. Blessings, Sue
