There is no real story behind my reasons for getting Lap Band, its more that there are future goals I would like to meet. Many people who I had told I was considering Lap Band were suprised and thought it a rash decision because I am "so young". What most do not realize is that I have been obese my whole life. There is a family history of diabetes and I have not so fond memories of being pricked throughout my childhood to make sure I wasn't developing the illness. I have yo-yoed my whole life, and this past yo-yo I was feeling desperately sick of this weight business. I felt that perhaps I was never going to be in control of my weight. My mother suggested I go to a seminar at the local bariatrics center. Six months later, I am sitting here on my living room couch, full in recovery mode. After months of reading through this sites forums, researched articles on lap band, and talking with my bariatric surgeon, I have regained hope that I will finally be able to live a healthy life at a healthy weight. I intend to use my Lap Band as a tool to help me regain that sense of fullness I lost when I was very young, and reteach me how to eat step-by-step. I know it won't be easy, but just the sense of hope I have regained tells me that I have made the right decision.
