  1. What a difference! Great job! I'm sure you're feeling so much better. Keep up the great work!
  2. Congrats on getting your surgery date. Just wanted to give you some encouragement. I'm down 134 lbs. in about 18 mos. I'd like to lose another 70 and I know with the help of my band I can do this. It's taken a lot of hard work, but it's definitely worth it. Good luck to you!
  3. I never bleed much but I always bruise. My fills usually are harder as I'm still pretty large. Usually takes 3 or 4 sticks before my doc hits it. Hopefully it will get better soon! Hang in there and I hope it gets better for you.
  4. Yep, I had to get a prescription from the doc for meds. Was well worth it though. The nausea was worse than the surgery! Good luck to you.
  5. I just sent him a pm with the same info! I think I met you at the last meeting, Gwen. And you're right, they are very good! Hope to see you tonight!
  6. <snort>you guys made me laugh so much! We have a cat named Patches---aka Schmoopie, Patchie, YOUR cat (when she's bad), Patchie Kitty.
  7. I've been overweight most of my life and tried many diets. My 1st marriage ended 7 years ago and one of the reasons was my weight. I was left to raise 2 boys pretty much alone. Needless to say, the weight kept going up. 4 years ago I met a wonderful man online and we married in 2004. He loves me for who I am and didn't care about the weight except to say he wanted me healthy so we could be together forever. The turning point came last summer when we took my boys to the airport to fly to CA to be with their dad. I ended up getting a wheelchair to go the gate with them as I couldn't walk very far. That opened my eyes to how much of life I'm missing out on. I realized that I was going to die much sooner than I needed to. Now with 60 lbs gone, I feel so much better. I have much more to go, but I WILL succeed this time. Good luck to you!
  8. And take your measurements! Sometimes you can see more in that number than you can on the scales.
  9. Sorry to hear that. But I do understand. Mine wasn't covered by insurance either so I had to pay myself. But it's definitely been worth it. Good luck, and welcome to Idaho! Did you move here for a job or just because it's wonderful here!
  10. I was banded on Sept. 11th by Dr. Cahn in Boise. He's been wonderful and I've lost 55 lbs. since my first consult with him in July. His office is in the St. Luke's building on Eagle Rd. and the freeway. Good luck! Lemme know if I can answer any questions.
  11. LOL...oh Dody...sorry to giggle but that's too funny! Maybe you should always carry a cell phone when out with the doggie? Or is your daughter like my husband....can sleep through the phone ringing?? Anyway----congrats on all that exercise!
  12. So far right at 28 lbs. I'm doing only SlimFast from now until next Wed. If I don't lose enough and he wants to reschedule AGAIN, I'm not sure if I can do it again. It's mentally getting to me. Feeling like a failure, all that crap.
  13. Thanks! That sounds fun. Hopefully I'll be eating a little by then. Just remind me before so I can clear it with the hubby. BTW...just talked to Debra at Dr. Cahn's office yesterday and he wants 34 lbs. off of me by the time I go in on Sept. 6th to weigh in. I'm stressed!
  14. I've got my pap scheduled for next week!! Now I'm thinkin' of canceling!
  15. Yeppers---the 11th is the day. If it changes again....errrrr....I can't even think about that. But I've lost close to 30 lbs. so I hope that's gonna be enough for the Dr.!
  16. Wanna share my SlimFast??? LOL....I'm trying to get off my last few pounds before surgery on Sept. 11th. After I get done with that and am back on food, I'd love to meet all of you! You're all so encouraging!
  17. Sitting here looking at my surroundings----sheesh----doesn't look like High School! Between this thread and the one the other day on religion, I thought I'd gone back in time! Ok---I'm off to find my shoes!
  18. OMG!! Having flashbacks to the first time I saw "The Wizard of Oz"---those damn monkeys scared the bejeebers outta me!! Thanks alot Paul. **sittin' in the corner cryin**
  19. Linda: LOL!! I remember you too. But I was sitting next to the young lady you're talking about. I was to her right. I have short reddish hair and my mom had come with me that night. Nice to put a face to your name now. I probably won't be at the next meeting as my banding is scheduled for Sept. 11th and the meeting is the 12th. If I'm feeling like SuperWoman, I'll be there---but I wouldn't count on it! Tricia---"Howdy" to you too---where are you from?
  20. Linda: Thanks for the encouragement. As of this morning I'm down a total of 25 lbs!! Wow----that's so huge for me! And yes, I was at St. Al's support group this month (the 8th I think). It was very informative. I know that others of Dr. Cahn's patients were there and told me they'd had to wait. But it was still a blow when I had to reschedule. But now I'm back on track and feeling much more confident. Thanks for the invite to your Yahoo group dinner. But my youngest son is in Optimist football and our evenings are full of that at the moment, but maybe at a later date. And to answer your another question, I live in beautiful Emmett. I'm a native Idahoan!
  21. Thanks! I forgot to say that I've already lost 20 lbs so maybe I'll have one sooner than I thought! Also, I'm hoping to get 4---one for myself, my husband and my 2 sons. Because I'm doing this for all of us so that we have many more years together. I figure a permanent reminder can only help, right?
  22. Can I join this "conversation?" I have no tats, but have decided that is how I'm going to reward myself for weight loss. I'm not banded yet, but am scheduled. I've decided that for each 50 lbs. lost I'm getting a little heart on my ankle. In different colors---one for me and then let my husband and kids pick out the other colors. Hopefully there'll be 4 and I'll eventually have them connected kinda like an ankle bracelet. My 16 yr. old son wants a tat really bad but I told him it depends on his grades! Gotta be a reward. That's my 2 cents!
  23. My first consult with Dr. Cahn was July 12th where he set a 35 lb. weight loss goal for me! Yikes! I ended up only losing 15 of that and he said it wasn't enough. The thing that bothered me the most was it was almost like he didn't even acknowledge that I did lose 15 and for me that was a huge accomplisment. I haven't LOST any weight in years. So now I've gotta get rid of another 15 by Sept. 7th. As of this morning I was down a total of 20 so I know I can do it. It's such a mental thing with me. This not eating thing. But I'm starting to catch on and to actually believe that maybe I am worth it. That's a big part of my problem---not being sure that I'm worth all this trouble. I also am a self-pay so I've got a lot of guilt going on in my head too. Not wanting to let people down that are helping up pay for this. But I'm also realizing that I'm doing it for myself more than anyone else and that's a big step. I'm always doing things for the rest of my family and not for me. I know I have to take care of me so that I can continue to care for them. Ok---enough rambling---I'm excited to find someone close! Thanks again! ~Cheryl
  24. This is totally off the subject of this thread, but I just noticed that you were banded by Dr. Cahn. I'm scheduled for the procedure with him on Sept. 11th. Was supposed to be Aug. 14th but he wasn't happy with my pre-surgery weight loss. Did you have that problem? I was devasted. But I'm back on track and working on meeting his goal for me. I know it's for safety reasons, but it was still tough. Looks like you're doing great! Congratulations! ~~Cheryl
  25. Tim: I too am on a pre-op diet. I guess all Dr's are different as some people are and some aren't. I was scheduled for my surgery today, but when I went in last Thursday for my check-up I'd only lost 15 of the 30 lbs he wants me to lose. I was devasted to have my surgery rescheduled. So now it's set for Sept. 11th (I won't forget that date will I). I think I was even more upset that he didn't even seem to acknowledge that I had lost 15 lbs!! And to me, that's amazing. I haven't lost weight in....well I don't know how long. But his reasoning is to lose the fat around the liver and I understand that. But it was frustrating and yes I did cheat. My diet is 3 SlimFasts a day and all the veggies I want. So I'm back on track....again. Will I cheat again? Possibly, but I'm trying really hard not too. I know I have to change my mind set about food and that's the hardest part. But I'm learning....along with everyone else. So keep it up! Don't give up....it'll be worth it in the end.
