September 2009 Band Date
Hi everyone  Soco - I there is a new poll up for the name, they narrowed down the top 3 names and we are voting on those, so we should know soon what the Sept name will be  BOO - WTG congrats girl. I am so happy you got the approval. :blush2: I think we all know how excited you are, how we all felt when we got approved by our insurance as well. :hurray: YEAHHHHHH Boo :hurray: Kim - I am feeling better every day. My tummy is rumbling and turning. I feel nausea at times and that I might throw up, but think it is more a burb that I need to get out. I am having a hard time getting the fluids in, but I am challenging myself each day to get more and more fluids in me. As for the soreness... not really sore that much any more. A little pains here and there. More than anything right now my belly itches. I hope everyone else is doing good. We are on our way and pretty soon we will all be talking about our first fills. Also again there is the yahoo group for us to all stay in contact as well. I just realized today that there are apps that I have added to the group, where we can share recipes, our goals, a profile for yourself just for the group etc. Also in the apps I have added where you can add your birthday as well as your band date. The group was down for a bit but Yahoo has fixed the errors. The group can be joined here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/banded909/join Hope everyone had a great labor day weekend. To all those still recovering hope it goes well and those going in here soon, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Yahoo Group for all of us in September getting banded :)
Update to the Yahoo Group... Doing a little bit of research tonight it appears that all new groups created in the last week have been deleted by Yahoo. This is just by reading a ton or post from other people this happened too. I have not heard anything back from Yahoo yet, I did submit a ticket to tech support that says they have 24 hours to respond. I have everyone's info that joined so far. Pending Yahoo being able to hopeful set the update or whatever they did to wipe us all out...hopefully everything will be put back the way it was. If for some reason Yahoo tells me I have to reset up the group I will send each of you and individual invite to resign up for the group. Frustrating Frustrating Frustrating... At least I kept all the emails that came in on needing to approve so I have everyone's email address. Also most of you will notice if you use Yahoo Messenger I have added you as a friend. Hopefully all will be fixed soon. (crossing fingers and toes!)

Yahoo Group for all of us in September getting banded :)
I don't know what is going on with the group. I emailed Yahoo Tech Support. I am going to be upset if Yahoo deleted it. I see no reason why they should have. As soon as I hear from them I will let everyone else know. When I was setting everything up I did also set up groups with Windows Live and Goggle Groups. Sorry about this everyone...I will let you all know what is going on as soon as I can. Thanks, Cortney

September 2009 Band Date
Hi Kim - I am a bit more tired today than the previous days. The gas is not killing me so much as cramps from my period and the bloated feeling. Every time I feel like I need to burb I am scared that I am going to throw up. I have not had much to drink. Today I have forced as much liquid as I can down my throat. But I am not hungry at all either. I just want the bloated feeling to go away and then I think I will feel a lot better. My incisions really are not bothering me. Getting up and down has been much easier today. The only other thing I am worried about is wanting to force the gas out so bad that I am going to rip open a incision. Hoping another night of sleeping with the heating pad on my tummy will help solve all the gas bubbles I feel rolling around right now. Also hoping I can stomach some liquid. I really don't want to get dehydrated. How are you doing?
-
3 days post op..
Isopure that you can get at GNC makes a clear liquid with a ton of Protein in it. I had a little bit of one today, but still not quite up to stomaching much...only 2 days post op.

September 2009 Band Date
Comet I am glad you shared that. I have gained since surgery and have been freaking out what I am doing wrong. I have barely had anything to drink. Trying to force myself to drink about 3 oz of Water every half hour. Also really sucks I have my period right now and the cramps from that with the stomach pains and gas are killing me. Hubby keeps telling me that I gained because of my period. Just glad to know that it is something that does happen post op.

September 2009 Band Date
SOCO - Thanks for the info on the Isopure. I tried the Mango Peach today. It is okay. I am sipping on it as much as I can. 2 days out and I just don't want anything to drink still. I have managed to get a few sips of water, about an ice cube and a half of SF jello and maybe 4 oz of the isopure down so far today. I have the apple one too. I might have to save that one for last. I was going to have it today but thought I would really like it so wanted to save it. My big thing today is I am tried and sore. I keep feeling like I am going to throw up. I have to burp and I am so scared that I will throw up if I do. I slept with a heating pad on my abdomen last night. That was nice. I have cramps so bad on top of it from my damn period starting. Other than that I am doing pretty good. I am hoping to keep feeling better every passing day. Michelle - WOW sounds like you had quite the procedure done. I am glad it all worked out and pray that you have a speedy recovery from everything you went through. At least you still got the band like you said. I am glad it all worked out for you. Pam - it is nice to hear how well everyone is doing. I know it helped me with my fears. You will do great in a few days. It gets more and more exciting as each day passes. Today I think I am going to be spending a lot of the day in bed trying to rest my body. I am so tired today more than the other days and just think my body needs some rest to try and heal up. Hope everyone else is doing great and having a great Labor day weekend! Cortney

Poll for September Bandsters Nickname
One suggestion on the poll since we had so many options, is maybe use this one to get the top 3 choices and say at the end of next week close the voting and then redo another poll for the final choice with the top 3 options to let everyone pick from that. Just a thought. Give the final pole like 2 weeks to vote that way we have our September name by the end of the month.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
I did cheat a little, but to me was all healthy since high Protein. I was on the 2 week Optifast diet. I did a slice of cheese a few days. Some hard boiled eggs, just the whites though no yolk, few bites of meat. (One or two at most) The worst night of cheating for me was the night before surgery. Hubby wanted to reward me and I was to weak to say no...I did an omlette with sausage and cheese, veggies & had hash browns. It was so good and what I needed. Afterward I was so worried my surgery may be canceled because of it, but went off with out a problem. My surgeon knows how hard it is to go all liquid pre op and allows room for some additional calories. So yes I cheated the last night, I did not have my final two optifast drinks for the evening. Now Post op so far I am not hungry at all. Can barely drink. I know this will change as I heal. But I am loving this right now.

September 2009 Band Date
Get banded and come back having to read up about 10 pages...LOL everyone is post post post...LOVE IT. I am so glad to hear that most of the post banders are doing good. My surgery was yesterday and it went well. The hospital staff was great from the admission person to the person that walked me out this AM. I am so glad I did this. I did not have really any gas pain. I am bloated, period started this AM, which I knew it was coming. Been taking Maalox and Liquid Tylenol. No Pain meds. I did have Morphine when they got me into recovery and then a pain med last night just to help me sleep. Really for all of you out there worried. It really is not bad. I got up and walked around as soon as they would let me. That helped. Also I have remained positive and upbeat about all of it. And kept my sense of humor as best as I can. They say laughter is the best medicine right. I am pretty tired. I did not sleep well the night before surgery and then last night went to bed around Midnight and was up at 4 am for a few hours, went back to bed around 6 am, they came in just as I drifted off at 6:30 AM then slept till about 8 am. Then I met with the surgeons nurse who gave me all my paperwork and was discharged by 10 AM. I wish like most I would have done this so much sooner. My post op diet is: 2 weeks - clear liquids only. Isopure makes clear liquid drink with 40 grams of protein in them I got them for my meals and then the rest of the day is water, crystal light type drinks, anything clear. 2 weeks - Full liquids - all the ones from the first two weeks but now can add milk, cream soups, anything more heavy and not see through but can't chew. Yogurt, pudding, protein shakes. 2 weeks - Soft/Mushy - Eggs, Tuna, Broiled Chicken, Fish, Deli Meat, only 2 to 3 oz with again all the stuff from prior weeks to help me out till my first fill that should be at the end of the soft phase. Again so glad to hear everyone is doing well. Everyone going in coming up...remember stay positive, get up and and start moving as soon as you can, and don't be afraid to ask questions know what is going one etc. Here is to the banded life!!! :smile2:

First time poster/surgery on 9-1-09
Cindy - Glad to hear that you are doing good. I know how you feel. I feel like that a bunch. Specially tonight for some reason I am so hungry and watching my hubby eat killed me... What was even harder was walking around the grocery store today. That and my monthly friend should be here any day...perfect time to be without food when I am craving salt and sugar. Hang in there Cindy...we are here to help you out... we can do this :blushing: Cortney

So many questions??? Lap band oir Gastric bypass!!!
Like the others I choose the band because: a - it is less invasive b - i did not like the major re-routing c - realizing that in a 2 years my body would adjust and start to absorb all the food again, also seeing all the people that have failed with RNY. Al Rooker, Carnie Wilson, etc. Also at my seminar there was a woman that had the RNY that is now having the Band because also someone else at my Surgeons office that I have talked to online also just had the band placed over his RNY. I know the band also fails, but the thought of going through RNY and it failing just like others really depressed me. I was leaning between the Gastric Sleeve (vsg) and the band. My surgeon does not do the sleeve and while I really was interested in the sleeve what sold me on the band is...if any of the others start to fail you, there really is nothing the surgeon can do but encourage you to get back on the train and lose the weight. With the band if the restriction is too loose and you can eat freely and start gaining, you can get a fill and it is like getting a whole another surgery. That is the big reason I choose the band. Yes I do crave sweets here and there, specially at that time of the month. I do crave Pasta, etc. But my big thing is I can go pretty much all day with eating little to nothing and in the evening just pig out. With the band limiting what I can hold this really will work for me. Plus I know in the morning now that when I eat and get full it will be a good thing to care me for the day. That was my other issue, once I started eating I did not want to stop. There are a lot of things to think about. I made a pros and cons list and to help me really narrow it down and also put some emphasis on my first thourghts. HTH

I am sure it will get easier in the days to come. :blushing: Mosean - wow only one incision that sounds great. We live near each other. I am in Ruskin, just over the Manatee boarder. Sounds like you did have a great surgeon :tt1: Amanda - I am so glad to hear you are still doing good, other than the mack truck. I am sure things will get better each day that goes by. To everyone else that went in hope you are all doing well and prayers are out there for everyone. Today was a busy day. Went to wally world and picked up a few things for the hospital. Have pretty much everything set. Tomorrow I have my pre op appointment, new pcp appointment and obgyn annual exam. Hi I'm new here and very frustrated,
Marie that really sucks. What I would do is if you have a lap-band go to their official site and search for a doctor like you are going to have the surgery again and then pick a doctor that takes you insurance and call that office and tell them what is going on. If you have the realize band I would go to their site and do the same thing. I really wish you the best of luck. That really sucks what you are going through. I do believe your initial Doctor did the right thing as I have been told by my Doctor's staff that once banded we should have NO acid reflux and if I do have any that there is something wrong. If you lived down by me in Florida I would tell you a great doctor to go to. Also meant to ask is it possible to go to where you doctor now is or is it to far away? Hope it all works out for you! But the positive you are still getting banded. HUGS Boo - I am so sorry to to hear that... I hope they get everything figured out for you soon. Don't like the feeling of just hanging out for others to do stuff at times. *************** Hopes everyone else is doing good. I hope those going in for surgery are getting ready and those just coming back from surgeries are doing well. Cortney

Cassandra that is amazing. I am glad you are feeling so well and home already. I can't wait for Friday to come around. You are one of the rare ones that got out the same day I would have to say. I am required to spend the night, but was told I should be released first thing in the morning the next day. Way to go so glad everything went well for you!!! I have been keeping everyone else in my thoughts and prayers as we all start to have the surgery. :frown:

September 2009 Band Date
Pookie - I am so glad to hear your Dad is doing better. Your pre op diet does not sound too bad. I wish I could have 1 small meal a day. I will say I feel so much better everyday. I have more energy each day. I will keep your family in my thoughts and just think how much better things will be in a few weeks to come when you get your band. Hi Jay - welcome to the group of Septembers bandsters. Don't get to nervous and please feel free to ask questions and we will all help and give our advice. I hear you on read for the brand new lease on life. I am just as anxious I am sure as you and most of us on here. Amanda I am saying a prayer for you and all those in going in tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes as soon as you can post something. Comet - ahhhhh you will be saying hello to the banded land tomorrow. I can imagine the butterflies, I will have them Thursday night. I am praying all goes well for all of you and please try to post when you are safe and home so we know it all went well. Welcome aboard the loserville train Mishi  Look forward to getting to know you too ************************* Well I got my clearance today. I am so excited. It is really setting in that I am going to be getting this done. The weight does not seem to be coming off as fast as last week. I am praying to reach my pre surgery goal. But I am happy that I have been losing. That is all that matters in the long run right. To all of you going in or just went in. I pray everything goes well and you all have a speedy recover. Here is a start for a better and healthier us and all going through this together. Happy Monday everyone and here is to a brighter tomorrow and may those going in for surgery be watched over and let everything go well.

Pre-Op Diet ROCKS!!!
I know the feeling... If you can have broth, made from bouillon cubes that will help the salt craving. The beef has no calories, but a ton of sodium. I Water it down a bit more though to help it out. 1 cube for 2 cups of water vs 1 cup. The chicken has 5 calories, again I water it down with 1 cube and 2 cups of water. They don't have anything else in them but sodium and they help my salt need a ton. WTG on your weight loss so far. I love the feeling of losing weight so easily right now and can't wait to be banded on the 4th.

Im starving
I hope it gets better for you. I am about the same place as you on the pre op diet and it is a bit easier for me. The smell of food does make my tummy growl a bit. So what I have been doing is drinking broth. It really has helped me a lot. Or I drink 8 oz of Water to help try and hush my tummy. I know you are doing the 6 carnations a day. I only do 5 Optifast and space them out every 3 hours. So I have set times that I try and stick with to drink them, 9, 12, 3, 6, 9. When I do them I sip them. I take anywhere from an 1/2 hour to an hour to drink it. That seems to help me a bit too. Later at night is when my hunger pains hit, that is when the broth comes out and I drink that. It really has helped and the warmth seems to calm my tummy down quite a bit. If you are still really really hungry I would call the doctor and maybe see about adding a small meal to your diet. I have read where some were liquids most of the day but a small meal at the end. Or if your pains are worse in the morning make it Breakfast. I have not been perfect in my pre op diet and have had a piece of cheese, a few bites of sausage, and usually every morning I have been eating a hard boiled egg, whites only with less than pinch of salt. Just keep telling yourself you can do it... you gave birth to children, you stopped smoking, do what every you can to stay positive and remember like others have said this will pass and you will wonder why you even questioned it... Best of luck to you!!!

All Set For Sept 9th

First time poster/surgery on 9-1-09
I was the same way when it came to pigging out. As soon as I got the approval and scheduled my surgery all I did was tell my husband I won't be able to eat this much longer...can I have this and that. LOL I love food so much...can't wait till I can eat something!!! Also girls I did start a Yahoo Group where we can all stay in touch. If you are being banded in Aug/Sept/Oct please feel free to join. Here is a copy of my post in the Sept area. :wink2: Hope everyone had a great weekend!!! And a much better week to come  ***************************************************************************************** I did start a yahoo group for all of us in September. I am including Aug & Oct, specially the ones at the end of Aug and beginning of Oct. My thought...those in August are a little more ahead of some of us and then we can help the ones in September. One big happy family and push and encourage each other. I choose Yahoo over, Windows Live and Google groups (I created a group on each one) because Yahoo has the biggest storage of photos!!! Also their storage for files is also pretty big and does not count against your photo storage space. I will still come to the board to post. But I thought this would be a really nice way to keep in touch, share recipes, encourage, do challenges with each other, photos, etc. Since we are all going through this together and at the same time. Plus you can get everything emailed to you and reply right through the email to the whole group. So if you would like to join and have a nice Bandster family come on over and sign up! You do have to have a Yahoo ID to be part of the group. To get one sign up here - https://edit.yahoo.com/registration?...oups.yahoo.com Also when you apply to be a member just let me know you are part of the lap band forum or when your surgery date is/was. I don't just want to let anyone join at this time. Okay hope everyone had a great weekend. If the link to join below does not work I will edit until I can get it to work. :wink2: Click to join banded909 - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/banded909/join
