10 Days Post Op ..
I had my revision surgery on 11-14-2012 after surgery they told me the band removal went fine and they were able to repair a hiatal hernia , that was a surprise to them ( and me ) and sleeve me in one procedure. I was SO relieved to have had it done in once procedure. The day after surgery I started throwing up water and unable to keep it down . After a couple more tried they ordered an EGD for me . They told me if the scope went through easily then and showed no obstructions I should be fine and not need another surgery , but if it did not I could have excess scar tissue from the band and I could need another surgery . WHAT !! Yikes . So they did it and it showed no obstruction some swelling around the band area ( where the band was ) they told me to take liquids slow . For several days I was still throwing up just water, in fact it freaked me out because it looked like I was throwing up some blood as well. Finally around day 3 or so the water was staying down . So finally I was able to go home today . NOT an easy process that's for sure , but I am glad its over. The doc told me to progress my liquids slowly , as long as I was keeping liquids down I was fine , the minute i started if i did throwing up liquids I needed to come back . But to just take it slow . I have had a couple times i have thrown up since i have been home. Got some zofran to help me out . Both times it seemed around the same time at night . Im still on liquids hoping to try some mushy foods on Monday maybe ? Anyway , that's my story ! I live in Buda was sleeved by Dr Fass ! Mindy

Nov 14 Sleevers?
let me rack my brain from when i was on them for my band, ( hope to get on them soon ) refried Beans with melted cheese whiz ( the kind in the jar ) with quacamole, and salsa. YUMMY as bad as it sounds its good ! Cottage cheese with spagettie sauce and melted mozerella, its a crust less lasaungna ... Same thing with pizza sauce , melted cheese, crustless pizza. Mashed potatoes, i lived on them . that's what i can think of off the top of my head .. here are some more http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/57261-puree-stage-recipeideas/

Now 10 days out and I hae had a few instances of throwing up since i got home. But I just back track and go on Clear Liquids again and It gets better. Since I was unable to eat prior to surgery due to my band i sometimes wonder if I will ever be able to eat solids again , but this HAS to be better than the band and the pain and issues i had with them .

5 Days In The Hospital And Im Finally Home !
the sleeve was " just coming out " as WLS when i had my band, I went with the " least invasive " HAHAH what a joke tha turned out to be . I had a lot of swelling from where the band came from which is why im still not able to eat right . They assure me it will get better. I was hoping to at least try mashed potatoes tomorrow but after throwing up a protein shake last night , im back to clear liquids, its a 1 step forward 2 steps back thing for me right now. Good luck with the surgery , Im sure you will do great. On the plus sidei have lost 10 lbs in 7 days !

5 Days In The Hospital And Im Finally Home !
Thanks y'all. Dark, I had my band in 2006 , I Lost 125 pounds got down to 125 pounds ... the year mark i slipped my band , then slipped it again , The doc told me around year 3 or so if i had it filled again it would close off the opening to my stomach there was so much scar tissue build up. Slowly over the last few years it got worse and worse and the last several months solid foods cause me severe pain to eat. I lived on liquids for hte most part for the last 6 months. Here is a post from my blog that explains it in more detail http://tryingtostays...affects-me.html good luck on your revision

Am I The Only One Who Started To Hate The Taste Of Water?
my doc warned me it was a known side affect , people dont like the taste of it, when I told him I prefer it right now (6 days post op ) he said " Be warned you might not like it after a while " So he told me i could dilute 25% juice to 75% water since i cant do anything with artifical sweetners like MIO or cyrstal light.

Selfish Discouraging Friends :(
I have lost a few friends over my surgery .. their loss not mine . I have struggled for 3 yrs to get this surgery . I have issues with my lap band that over the years have made it difficult to eat with out pain . I currently am only able to drink liquids. EVERYONE has their own opinions. Why dont you do this .. One friend told me I have ruined my body enough with the lap band I need to stop " !! SERIOUSLY ! I have PCOS and if i dont get revised the weight will come back on and i wil get diabetes with in 5 yrs !! People critized me because I had a fundraiser for myself. I had no other choice I had to get this band out ... I took out pre exisiting insurnace which is $250 a month for JUST ME , we cant afford it but what choice do i have ... I raised enough money for the dedictible .. I work 2 part time jobs and people had the nerve to tell me " quit your jobs and divorce your husband and get medicaid ! " ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME !! Anyway .. Do what you have to do for you .. People who have never been over weight have NO CLUE and the ones that do are bitter usually , i know that is hard to say myself but its what i found .. Congrats on your surgery !!!

I Have A Date ! Surgery Set For Wednesday The 14Th !
Crystal I have the same fear , But I know people several years out w/ the sleeve and dont see NEAR as many issues as with the band . right now im worried about waking up w/ out the sleeve for several reasons. He warned me it might not happen if my stomach is too inflamed. But also i had to have a fundraiser to get the money for the deductible for this surgery , if I have to have another one it will be next year and another $2000 Deductible ! UGH But he said he will do it as long as its safe. So cross your fingers. mindy

Recovery Time ?
Thanks y'all . I wont know if i will have it in one surgery or not until surgery day , He will try to do it in one but if my stomach is too inflamed he will do it in 2 . The NUT kind of made it sound like my recovery might be "harder' tahn someone who was just getting the sleeve but the doc at my pre op appt yesterday did not think so . So i am not as worried !
