Any one Banded 8/4/09 or 1st week of August
Hi all, I was losing really fast in the beginning but now, not so much, in the past month I have lost 4 pounds, but that's better than nothing! Exercising helps, but I definately need to do more than I am. Why am I paying for the gym membership again?? OH YAH, RIGHT, BECAUSE I SHOULD BE GOING!!! That is my hardest struggle and it's not that I don't want to go, it's I have no time. So much going on with work and being here 10 to 12 hours a day my poor house is also neglected. Well, my 20 year class reunion is on my band birthday this year and I am going to bust my butt this summer and my goal is 30 more pounds before then... I want to look somewhat like I did in high school right? I just have to lay off the stupid wine, that's my weakness, that and salty chips- BAD COMBO, thank god I don't do it much. Good Luck to everyone...by the way... since the surgery I can no longer eat the following items: Rice, Bread, Muffins, Pork (NO PORK AT ALL), Yogurt, Milk, and the skin of fruit like grapes and nectarines...weird, anyone else have a problem like that? GEEZZZZ I didn't know I had to give up my pork chops  Have a Happy Easter everyone and chew chew chew!

Any one Banded 8/4/09 or 1st week of August
Hi all, I was also banded 8/7/09, and though I have lost quite a bit of weight, the road has been quite bumpy!!! I had my last fill in November and its still so tight, I had an episode for about 1 month where no matter what I ate I either PB'd or actually vomitted. It has finally subsided and I think I may have had something stuck and because of the constant vomitting I think I had a lot of imflammation, so I stayed on liquids for the last week and was finally able to eat yesterday and today, fish and mashed potatoes and brocolli, which as stayed down, thank god!! I think the worst of it over, just be careful Molliemac when getting tightened as I had not felt tight enough before my last fill and even though the water went down at the Dr. office, I had trouble eating since the fill. And yes certain foods work at some times and sometimes the same food doesn't at others??? I don't know why this is but you are certainly not alone! Good Luck and remember to keep your chin up and look at the New Year with goals and opportunities!! I sure am.

How do you PB?
yah ok so I have totally done that sliming thing recently....what is that??? It's totally disgusting and I wondered what causes it...:cursing:

Yogurt and heartburn ??
Yogurt tears me up since the surgery- milk too...don't know why but it sure is weird. I can't eat fruit skin anymore either- like nectarines or grapes- I literally have to peel them in order to not have terrible pain and the feeling that its stuck... good luck and maybe lay off the yogurt for awhile and try again in a month.

first fill
Diana6303- same here- my doc has me lay on a table and I do a crunch and he pokes me- has me hold his arm and he helps me sit up and drink the water while he pushes the fluid in and out to see what is comfortable. No numbing medication, and no pain. I think you should try to relax before you go in for another and ask to be numbed if you are sensative to the injection. Good Luck!

Why can't my doc find the port?
Wow, I have never heard of that??? Did he sew it in crooked?? My doctor has never missed- gets it on the first try, you shouldn't be sore or uncomfortable, it takes my doc a total time from start to finish about 5 minutes... I hope the flouroscope helps, but I have personally never had that done so I am not sure exactly how it works- but I will pray for you that it goes well. Good luck!

My starting point

Banded 6/22 and VERY frusterated
Hi- I'm sorry to hear your so frustrated- I see how it can be. Are you following your diet as instructed??? I find that it really matters... I have a friend that has only lost 20 pounds in almost a year, and she is also frustrated, but she snacks all day and not always healthy... she does work out at the gym almost everyday, but I truly feel her snacking constantly has a lot to do with it- she also regurgitates a lot- I think from overeating.... is any of this happening to you? Maybe you just need to find the right tightness.. I just had my first fill and it is really different- my doctor started with 5cc's and put fluid in and out while I drank to see what was comfortable yet still restricting- has your doctor tried this? If not I would ask your Doctor to this. Good Luck and hope it gets better for you. I work out and walk a lot also- which I really think has helped... hope something here helped you- keep me posted on how you come along.

First Fill - what a trip!!!
WOW 5.5 YIKES...he started with 5 and I was like no way!! LOL well it's different for everyone!! Good luck with you also!!!

First Fill - what a trip!!!
 Had my first fill yesterday and NOT what I expected- I could feel it all tight and he would have me drink and then adjust the flood and then drink and adjust the fluid and then drink and so on so forth... we ended up settling that a good fit was 2.5 cc's. It literally felt like he put a blood pressure cuff around my tummy and pumped it up. Really strange feeling though when I drink a little burping with each drink- back on liquids for two days and feeling quite satisfied. The Doc emphasized exercising and wants to see me back in a month and if I haven't lost 10 pounds he wants to adjust me again??? Well I will really be trying to get the 10 pounds off!!

Sex three weeks out
 OK so the doctor said wait three weeks for sex- I did exactly that 3 weeks and 1 day actually. Today I feel so horrible- my stomach hurts really bad around the port sight and I think I may have overused my muscles??? Has anyone else experienced this?

Any one Banded 8/4/09 or 1st week of August
I was banded 8/7/09, and after reading all the post am surprised that many of you are pudding and shakes... my nutritionist told me clear liquids 1st week and then liquids 2nd week and then mushy foods the 3rd week... I have a lot of gas pain in my shoulder area and sometimes in my tummy but sometimes I feel really hungry???? I think I will try a protein shake- that may help. Looking forward to seeing how everyone does!!

severe bruising...
I had my surgery 8/7/09 and have sever bruising also- however I think it is due to the blood thinners... if there is no excess swelling or pain- they should clear up within a week or so.

So scared!! Aug 19th
:smile:I just had the surgery on Friday August 7, 2009 and am back at work today Monday 8/10/09- they had some problems with me as I had some severe scar tissue from prior surgeries, so they had to cut that away- so it took a little over two hours for the procedure. I have eight small incisions and the pain is quite managable.... the worst part is the gas that settles in the neck and shoulder- lots of walking helps. I got home from my surgery about 3:30 and walked my dogs with the help of my mom putting their leashes on- it hurt a bit the first couple of days to bend over. Hardly had to use my pain medicine and feel overall really great- good luck and don't be scared- this is the begining of a new life for you and welcome it!!! I can't wait to see what this surgery has in store us!

Soooooo excited
:tongue2: Well Friday 8/7/09 is the big day and I am super excited but also nervous. I have been trying to get this surgery since early February of this year with no success- I have Lupus and therefore I am a high risk candidate. I finally found a surgeon that will do the surgery and he has been closely working with my Rheumatologist and Hematologist to ensure a safe surgery. I have to take a previpac due to a small amount of bacteria in my stomach lining which can cause ulcers and Lovenox prior to the surgery and after the surgery for five days to prevent blood clots as I am at a higher risk of clotting. I have had a lot of support from my friends and family and am looking forward to a new life style and a healthier me!! I will let you know how it goes after the surgery- wish me luck!!!
