Hi James, I was hoping to have my surgery in October or November. My insurance company is now requiring me to go on a 6 month weight management program. We are leaving tomorrow for vacation, so I guess I'll check into a program week after next. How are you doing with your band? Did you have it done in Columbus?

I don't blame you. I hate waiting 6 months for a weight management program. If I had to wait 2 years I would be a little upset. My doctor does it for $12,000 at this time. I can't afford self pay so I'm trying to meet all of the insurance company's requirements. Of course, that doesn't mean they will approve me then.

SwanGirl, I had an EGD last week. My doctor also took a biopsy. They called me back yesterday and said that everything was fine. I hope yours was just a routine procedure for your doctor.

My doctor should have everything he needs next week to send into my insurance company. I just pray that they approve it. I'm hoping I will be able to schedule in October. September is so crazy at our office and I was told that my insurance company had up to 30 days to make a decision. All of you please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Hi Jerzee Girl, I went to a seminar on 7/14/09. I saw the doctor last week. I'm not sure how long it will take, but we are moving right along with all the appointments I need. Good luck. Chubbymemaw

Congratulations! My doctor and I are getting everything together for my insurance. I have a few appointments with doctor, nutritionist, phys. and a med procedure before we will have everything together. I'm hoping we will have everything ready to send in before the end of the month. I hope I hear something before the end of September. Maybe in a month or so I can post the same message you just posted.

I will be 60 in January and I went for my first appointment yesterday. The doctor said that I was a good candidate, due to my medical problems. I have several appointments scheduled and I guess the outcome of those will determine whether or not I can have the surgery. My doctor didn't seem concerned about my age.

How are you doing since your surgery? I have an appointment with Dr. Turton Thursday. I hope I am approved.

I'm chewing nicotine gum to try not to smoke. If they test for nicotine, that will be in my system. I guess I need to ask my doctor about that when I go Thursday.
