  1. I avg. around 600-800 calories per day. I am not a total couch potato, but not working out either.
  2. I was raised to be Christian and went to church often as a child. As an adult, I still consider myself to be christian. I do not see it as black and white like that at all. I am not rigid about it at all. I am pro-choice all the way. I do not quote the bible like Patty does, but do have a great deal of respect for Patty. That being said, I had a family emergency on Tuesday and you bet I was praying to GOD through Jesus to help with this emergency. When the emergency got better, I said a prayer of thanks too. Of course I do not know if my prayers were truly the reason the emercency turned out better than it could have. But just in case, I said a prayer of thanks.
  3. Everyone is different, so you will have to go with how you feel. I stopped taking the pain meds the morning after my surgery with Dr. K. Since you are having surgery on Tuesday and not heading home until Thursday, I think you should be ok if you break the trip up like you said. I would not make the drive if you are still taking the pain meds. If you even feel a little bit sleepy stop driving. Do they have someone taking you from the hospital to the hotel after surgery?

As of yesterday, I am officially OVERWEIGHT ! My BMI fell below 30 to 29.9 and I didn't notice until today. I thought I still had a few pounds to go to get out of the obese category. This is another big milestone for me. I think I feel about right for this too. I do feel overweight and no longer feel obese. Whooo! Hooo! MORE HAPPY DANCING!!!! (does all the happy dancing count as exercise? lol)

  6. Great Thread. For me the weightloss has taken very little effort. The band has been that "magic wand" for me. It has been "the easy way" to weightloss. For the most part I think I am doing well emotionally too. The thing that comes to mind right now is my self esteem about the way I look. I felt so bad about looking obese. Now that I have lost over 70 lbs., my low self esteem about looks has shifted to my skin and hair. I lost so much hair! Even when I was morbidly obese I would get compliments on my hair. Now every day is a bad hair day. My skin has more wrinkles and I am so winter pale! I feel so bad that I can not bring myself to post pics. We all have issues.
  7. Yes, you should be very proud. You are on the right path now. Great Job!
  8. Great Job ! Onderland is such a big milestone! You have done so great! WOW! look at that weightloss!
  9. OMG! I just went to 3 different BMI calcs. and 2 of them said I was 29.9 and "overweight" whoo hooo The other one said I was 30 BMI and obese (That one MUST be WRONG! lol) don't mean to hijack your victory thread! just share a happy dance with you!:smile2:
  10. What a great feeling! I loved it when my BMI dropped to the obese one. I am so close to being "overweight" I can taste it! just looked at my ticker .......... is under 30 BMI overweight?
  11. Elfie, I had the phrenic nerve pain for months. It could have been worse for me because of many things. I had H.hernia repair and have had fibro for years. I would tell you not to get an unfill. You have been working toward your sweet spot and it is worth your effort. All I can tell you is that the pain does stop and the pressure on the nerve does stop with just the right amount of weightloss. I found that the equate brand menthol pain patches from walmart saved me and my sleep at this stage. Just put one on your arm or shoulder in the evening and leave it on all night. They are only $3.98 and well worth the trip to walmart.
  12. I do seem to have more gas, but you do learn to control your body functions just like when you don't have the band. Sometimes during or after eating you need to burp. For me it isn't one of those big ones where you could burp the ABCs. Even in public you can just put your hand to your mouth a little and the people around you don't even know you burped. As far as the other end, yes I do seem to fart more. But you learn to control that too just as you would now. Go to the bathroom, pass gas when you have a moment alone. It all works out and I think you will have a much happier life as a young adult if you can kick this obesity thing. Good luck on your life journey :smile2:
  13. The anesthesia causes me to have very bad nausea even when they give me meds to help. The only other thing that comes to mind that has been a real drag since being banded is the thinning hair. Everyone will be so different. You have youth on your side. The younger you are, the better you heal. Now that I think more about it, I had severe fatigue for longer than most. I also had left shoulder pain from pressure on my phrenic nerve for months. But I think your age will help you bounce back from that type of stuff fast too.

NSVs are great! It gets so much easier to reach your toes to cut your toenails or toenail polish too!
  15. I find that crab and scallops are so much easier for me to eat than any other meat. My band is pretty tight. Enjoy the social time and the seafood!
  16. WOW ! Look at what you have done! That is so great ! You should do several rounds of happy dancing  and go buy yourself something!
  17. I used HealthOne. It is an unsecured loan, so even with the very best credit score they will only go as low as 10%. There was 0% for the first 6 months, then it is fixed at 10% on the balance.

  19. What a great feeling! Congrats! Now set a new mini goal to work toward!
  20. I'm still a little shy about posting pics and don't have good recent ones. Maybe I'll take my camera to work tomorrow and have one of the girls take a pic. We'll see how it turns out.
  21. go to 'home", click on the forum you want to post in, then in the upper left will be a place that says " new thread "
  22. I havn't seen TOM in over 20 years, but blame some weight gain on lack of hormones.
  23. The people in my life are so great! I am so fortunate to have very supportive family, friends and co-workers. They all have lifted my spirits during this journey. Last week a Dr. (who I have worked with for over 10 years and consider family) told me I was looking like a stick woman. He struggles with weight himself and said it as a compliment. Of course I don't look like a stick woman, as I am still a couple pounds into the obese category, but his compliment made me feel good. Today one of my co-workers told me how great I was looking and that she could tell I was feeling better. She said "you look like a different person." She has been so supportive from day one and has considered LAP-BAND® in the past. Now, after seeing my results, she is going for it! She has a consult next week. My spirits are lifted :rolleyes2:
