i just wanted to see if anyone can help me here. i need to know how to tell if you are 200% over your body weight! im going to call my doctor to see if he can help me out but was thinking this might help me too. ive looked at a 10000 websites but just keep coming up with my bmi. thanks so much for any help! karen

so how did that work? did you do like monthly payments so something like that if so how much did you pay a month for it????

i hope all goes well with you! I'm sure you'll heal up great!!! yeah so tricare did not approve my lap band but I'm going to appeal it! I'm so pissed off at them though cuz i meet the requirements so i don't know what happened!! when i called they said that there was nothing telling them why i was not approved???!!! yeah and nether did my docs office! so someone or somewhere things got messed up but ether way i have to appeal! sucks but the docs office said that they will help me soooo I'm just going to hope for the best. i cried most of the day.... feeling sorry for myself... but now i just have to hope. i hope its before Christmas that i get this done. bla!!!!! anyway best to you Karen

do you think you could help me out? i just found out today that i was denied! i have no clue why. i meet everything needed for tricare to approve me!!!! when i called them they said it could be because they do not have enuff info! BLA BLA! anyway i called my doctor and the surgeon who will do the lapband to help me appeal this. my quistion for you is.. did you have to wait the whole 90 days to hear something? and do you mind if i look at your letters that you wrote. may help me out. thanks so much. i really want to fight this so anything will help! thanks karen

yes i did heal up but it took twice as long though. because once your stitches starts to open it will just spread! i had to wear bandages and wraps for a long time tell everything started to scar up. the doc told me that in some people this happens.. don't have a clue why but in some areas on your stitching don't get any blood flow to them and they start to do what yours is doing right now. mine started out as a pocket of blood, went into the doc and he said to let it burst on its own because it would heal better. yeah right!!!! i hope your not going through what i did. and you may have to go in and have them fix the stitching but lets hope not!!!!. best of luck to you. and don't worry yourself sick, this was my story and everyone is different when it comes to healing. yes i would!!!! because that happend to me! i was not getting any blood to my incision ( part of it) and the doc said that it was find and would heal on its own. well it did not and now i have major scars becuse of it. i mean they are fading now but i wish that he would have fixed it for me!!! i wish i would have know that that was not the norm!!! so yes go talk to your doc asap!!!!! best of luck!!!

i just wanted to add something on here for you to think about! eating and being over weight is like a drug! so think about it your body is in shock! just like getting offa drug... anyway ask your doc for a shot of phenergan. i know that when i get very sick and when i was pregnant with both my kids i had to get shots all the time for nausea after i got the shot i would feel great! try it! karen

you know what you could do as well? you could take them to the weight loss center that you went to, to talk to your surgeon for your first vist. and swap cloths there! there are allot of big and small people who walk thru those doors to have their first visit or to get a fill or just a check up. at the place I'm going to here in Tucson AZ they have a get together each month and swap out cloths! anyway just a thought!

i have to tell you that these are NOT MIRACLE PILLS! they wont fix everything bad in your life. but they will make you feel better. and sometimes you have to try more then one kind before finding the one that works for you. and it takes about 6 weeks to get in your body and for others to see a happier you ( i say others because they are the first to see a change then you will) trust me i should know ive been on all kinds for over 10 years!!! right now i take 150mg of zolof a day. hope this helps. and talk to your doc about it!!!

i hear ya on that one! remember to try not to sleep on your sides because sometimes your boobs could form to a cone shaped! at lest that was what i was told because everything is trying to heal up.. best of luck

i agree with allot of what was said above. you should do this for you, its your happiness, your life, your choice to have this done. you don't need to look for approval in anyone but yourself! my husband was not liking the fact that i wanted this done. tell i said this is for me not you!! and if you love me you'll let me do this... i need this! good luck!

ill tell you this... it is very painful and will be for like a few weeks. it will be hard to lay down and to lay on your sides! but it was worth it!

it went great! LOL i got lost on my way there ( thanks mapqwest) so i was on the phone with them forever so by the time i got there they already knew who i was LOL. Dr Schwartz was very nice and said that he will do the surgery! so the next step is to see the psych on the 11th then they will sent off the info to tricare to see if they will approve the surgery!! im going to see the psych that works at their office. i have no clue what comes next! cant wait!

WOW! Im so happy for you!!!! i go for my psyph apt on the 11th! cant wait then after that it will get sent off to tricare for approvel. hope it comes back good. so yeah the surgeon said it was a go. now i just have to wait and wait lol. good luck to you karen

it was about 3 hours! they took off about 5 pounds of breast tissue! oh man it helped out soo much with my back and i loved the fact that i could walk into a store and by sexy bras! good luck wish you the best Karen

i was just reading your post. congrats on the boobs! LOL. i had mine done about 3 years ago and tricare covered everything! i went from a DD to a C it helped out with my back and just doing everything. the only thing i did not like was the darins. i had to take them out 24 hours after my surgery. i did not feel anything because of the pain meds but i pulled both out at the same time in the shower (with my hubby standing by me) and it just made me light headed and there was some bleeding. after that i just had to keep them wraped and i wore allot of my hubs army shirts ( brown at the time) because they where tight on me. other then that i love my new boobs! i wish you the best of luck karen

get all your med records! and bring them with you it will make things allot faster. the more info you know too helps out. best of luck karen

hi there!!! i know just how you feel and go through each and every day! you came to the right place there is so much info here. im going to meet with a surgeon on monday to see if i can have the lapband. as far as i know with the lapband it is going to be a big big change in your life... but a good one. the first few weeks and a few weeks after i know that you wont be able to eat much just liquids and them mushies and then you can start eating some food from there but after that you should be able to eat food. you have to make the right food choices but you know i dont think eating a bite of cake or going out to eat with fam and friends is going to hurt. you just really have to watch what you eat and know when you are full. i would ask your doc about it and go from there. there is allot of info out there, trust me your not alone on how you feel. i wish you the best of luck!!!! and welcome to Lapbandtalk!!!!!
