  1. Hi, I would like to know if anyone here has a diagnosis of pseudotumor cerebri/intercranial hypertension? I have this condition and my neurologists recommended that I look into wls as losing a large amount of weight can drastically improve or sometimes cure this condition. I would like to know how you were doing pre-band and now post-band if possible. Thanks for your input!
  2. Well, I have my 1st pcp visit tomorrow. I went to my neurologist about a week ago. He said that I would need to get a referral from a pcp. He is in favor of the lapband for me as losing weight would help my condition that he treats me for tremendously. I may even have complete remission after losing a good amount of weight. I'm scheduled for an info seminar in september. At that point I can apply for the surgery...so I guess this is just the beginning of all the excitement. Any advice on what to do in order to keep up with the paperwork and everything?

    1st pcp visit tomorrow

Ok, so I went to the appointment today. The Dr. thinks this will be a good thing for me. My blood pressure was sky high...143/106! Maybe that's why I've felt like crap lately. So I will go back in one month for fasting blood work and to re-check my blood pressure. We decided on the month timeframe to see if cutting salt will help.

    Reflux

Anyone here have problems with reflux before getting the band? If so..did it create problems with you being eligible for the surgery...did the band help the reflux afterwards? Thanks for your input.
  5. Hi everyone. I'm new here and am very excited about this whole process. I am scheduled for a seminar on sept. 25. I have read so much information that my head is starting to spin. I have been considering the lapband for about two years now. Acutally my neurologist recommended it to me. I have a chronic condition, idiopathic intercranial hypertension..that's a mouthful to say. Basically it means that my spinal fluid pressures get abnormally high and cause severe headaches, vision problems, nausea and a host of other lovely issues. It's linked to being overweight, so me having a BMI of 42.5 is a major factor. I have been dealing with prediabetes as of this year. This is something I really need to pursue for my health, I'm scared..but I see it as a journey that will lead to a healthier, stronger, overall better ME! I look forward to sharing with everyone!
