2 and 1/2 weeks post op

I am on week three and feeling pretty good. Still have discomfort but I have heard it's normal. I did have surgery! lol....I have been told I have lost like face, arms, overall width (I guess), cloths fit a little looser but not enough to go down a size. I am looser up top now...Darn! I was hoping not to lose there. lol...I will be heading in the offices around the 1st of August for my first adjustment. A little nervous. Weird how some doctors will give a local and others don't. I WILL have a local. Otherwise, they are not doing it. I cannot take needles...seriously....knowing I will see it I will defiantly feel every little thing. No...it's best the numb me, for their sake. lol...You’re doing great! Keep it up!

    Watermelon, chicken, tuna & crackers

Wow! I keep hearing about other methods of when to eat, what to eat, how long after. I am rather confused! lol...perhaps it really does depend on your doctor and the facility's practice. I can tell you what I have been doing and I have had no problems except that stomach growl...I'm afraid it's all part of it. All in all, I feel like I am doing really good! Yes, I am hungry but it's nothing like that first week! I call it "hell week". Week one, I had jello, popsicles, chicken broth, tea's, water, Ensure (with fiber). Week two, Cottage cheese, jello, popsicles, tuna, potato cheese soup (once), sweet potatoes and squash mashed style, beans, yogurt, pudding, banana’s, peaches and pears (baby food). I am now on week three and I am having chicken (no skin), pot roast, had a half of sandwich and did really well…I am only on day 3 of week three. I will be eating spaghetti tomorrow night. I tend to eat my soups. I love Lipton’s Chicken Noodle soup (just the broth and noodles) and I find I get full with it. It is really hard to tell but I just keep within the range they say to eat and trust they know what they are talking about.

any advice for my first fill?

Great stuff Melia! Thanks. I will be going in around the 1st of August for my first adjustment and I will defiantly ask to be numb! I am terrified of needles just I did surgery. Crazy, ha? lol. I love the advice on the car tote. I will be getting one together. Have you have any restrictions on veggies and fruits? Skin/no skin? What to avoid? Thanks in advance!

    Week three...

I would love to chat! I am amazed that you haven’t started solid foods. I guess each doctors are different. Have you spoken to your Nutritionist? Everyone I have spoke to has said that’s the biggest step in assuring everything is working properly. Week One - I had jello, chicken broth, Tea, Water, Ensure (with fiber) chocolate! Week two - I had sweet potatoes and squash (mashed style), jello, broth, Ensure, cottage cheese, beans, avocado, pudding…really anything that is soft and does not require a whole lot of chewing. That’s what I was told and it worked for me. Now week three - I have had chicken (no skin), beans, pot roast, potato, lunch meat, pretty much anything I thought would be okay to eat. The most important thing to remember is chew, chew, chew! I have struggled with this and eating semi-fast. I have to make a conscious effort to eat my meal taking 30 minutes and to stop when I start to feel full. Still mastering this! Lol… I try to stay away from breads and pastas however, like tomorrow I will be having a little of spaghetti. I also take a multi-vitamin (adult chewable) every day. I am also starting a support group in my area on Thursday nights. I know that’s a bit far for you to come…lol…but, I am hoping to reach some ladies nonetheless. I am very excited!

    Week three...

It is week three for me and I have started on solids. So far, so good. Today, I tried a half sandwich and had no troubles. Tomorrow, I will be having pot roast. Can't wait! I find myself going back to my soups and jello allot! Am I scared? Went swimming today...it felt soooo good to be submerged in water. I did a little exercise besides my walking. I still have two sutures and there almost off. I am healing nicely and so is my tummy. Still a little swollen, yet, that's to be expected. All in all I have had several compliments that I have been looking good and quit a few people saying I don't as swollen all around but especially the face. How wonderful to hear those words. Allot of the compliments coming from those who do not know I have had surgery. I have not weighed myself at home. The last weigh-in was four days post surgery (surgery was 06/29/09 post-op visit 7/2/09) and I had lost 10 lbs. I go for my first adjustment on the 1st of August. I will drive myself crazy if I am constantly checking and worrying about my weight. If I don't lose what I feel I should, I'll get down, beat myself up...and I am forward looking, no down for me! I am keeping my head up and staying positive, staying focused and feel when I go in each time for adjustments I will track my progress. Next week I will be starting back at the gym; low impact (bicycle).

    One Week Post Op

I am on week 3; started solids. Today I tried a half sandwich (I didn't eat the crust). The cravings come and go. The rule of thumb is a craving (with anything) will last approx. 15-20 mins. That's when I pick up the phone and talk to someone. I just try to keep my mind off of it and next thing I know I'm not craving anymore. That's the hardest part for me. Today, I also went swimming...I loved being in the water. I felt I could do anything...the second I got out....now; I felt all the tightness rushing back. Discomfort; no pain. My stomach is still a little swollen and that is normal. I still have two sutures left that are about half way off. Can't wait until they are all gone! Over all I can say I am very happy that I have made this life-changing decision. I go August 1st for my first adjustment. A little nervous (the needle). You are doing great!
