  1. I'm fairly new as well, but I do know that constant acid reflux could be a sign of a hiatal hernia. I know that was the case with me. I too would bug my Dr. to see what is up. Wish I could be of more help. Good Luck!
  2. I have UHC and I had my first consult with my surgeon near the end of April. I was notifed of my approval near the end of June and underwent my surgery on 7/13. When you're waiting it seems like forever, but once you get the call and have the surgery, it seems like it went so fast! Good Luck to you both
  3. I was banded on 7/13, and I also had a hiatal hernia that was repaired. I experienced pains from shoulder to shoulder and found it hard to breath. Like most people said, it was from the gas. This lasted for only a few days and my pain meds helped me sleep, which in turn helped me not feel the pain. I am 9 days post surgery and don't have any chest pain. I only have slight incision pain. Some Dr.'s perform a test prior to the surgery to determine if their is a hernia, others repair it if it is spotted during surgey. I'm glad that it was caught and repaired because I already experienced heartburn and acid reflux, and I didn't want it to be any worse with the band. Good Luck!
  4. talkalot1981, I was just thinking the same thing! I actually came onto the sight looking for a thread regarding this. It seems as if most peoples Docs have advised them to stay on liquids for 14 days post op. My doc has advised 5 days of liquids post op, then 10 days of pureed foods, and 10 days of soft food. I'm a week post-op and have justed started the mushies. Everything is good so far. I have my first visit on Wednesday. I would do what the doc says as of now, but make sure to ask about it. Good Luck
  5. emmylou, I was banded on 7/13, so my mushies started today! I too am nervous, and have been taking it slow. I started with grits this morning, and had a smashed baked potato for dinner. I was full with both. I'm nervous about overdoing it as well, as I know it takes a minute for the brain to catch up with the belly! Good luck!
  6. Hey Everyone, My surgery date is 7/13. I'm getting super nervous. Not about the surgery or the pain, but being able to handle the side of affects of the gas and nausea. I had all my labs and test today, so there is no going back! Good luck to everyone!
