If I want to go to a support group Hurley has one but it is an hour and half awy from me. I am hoping to find one closer too.

I had my surgery done at Hurely in Flint. It was done on July 29th. When are you getting yours done and where?

I was just banded on July 29th and was sent home on July 30th. Now that I am home I am on protein shakes, protein tomato soup, protein jello, and a kool aid type protien dring. The problem that I am having is that I feel like something is stuck in my throat and ever so offten I get a wierd pain the runs from my stomach to my chest. I am not able to drink alot nor even to drink all the drinks that I am supposed to nor the 64 oz of water. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

The best bet is to talk to your anistcialogist (spelling?) let them know your fears and ask them to talk to you and tell you want they are doing. They are usually very accomodating and are very nice. they want you to be calm and relaxed. I do know that when I was 1st put under I was scared then the second time the anistcialogist talked to me and told me everything they were doing and I felt better about being put under and then this time for my lap band I asked the anistcialogist to talk to me and tell me what they are doing and everything went well. As for the groggy feeling that can not be avoided just rest and sleep and you will be fine.

I am also on the 29th I have been on a liquid diet from BetterMD.com. I had to be on it for 3 weeks prior to surgery and the for 2 weeks after. I have been dieing for reg. food but I have not cheated. Good luck with your surgery

I am a single 35 year old mom. I have 2 children my son 14 and my daughter 11. I will be having my surgery on the 29th of July and like you I do not have anyone who has gone through this. I do have a wonderful support person, but they do not know much about what it is going to be like. I am very excited about the up coming surgery but also and very scared. I had been on my high protein liquid diet for a week before my pre admittions testing and my kidney results showed that my kidneys are functioning at 90 %

My surgery is on the 29th at hurley medical center in flint michigan. i was wondering if anyone else is going to be there that day as well.

I have just medicaid and The only thing I had to pay out of pocket for was my liquid diet kit. For me that was $332 for 3 weeks before surgury and 2 weeks after. What I would do is get a refural from your primary doctor and then work with the surgon. Once My approval came back from medicaid They told me that I would not have any co pays. If i was you I would just try and see you may be lucky and not have to pay anything out of pocket ecept for the liquid diet. Good luck

Where do you live? I live in Michigan and I know that Hurly Medical Center works with medicaid.

Jackson is about 1/2 hour to 45 mins west of Ann Arbor if that helps.

Hi my name is Tracey and I am schedualed to be banded on the 29th of July. I am currently on my liquid diet and sometimes I find it tough to get through the day. I am from Michigan medicade just approved my surger for the lapband. There were a lot of hoops I had to jump through to get it approved. The first hoop was making sure that I went to see a dietion for a year. Then I had to have a medical condition that was a result of my being over weight. I was diagonsed with sleep apnea about 6 months ago. After that I had to have an MMPI2 test to make sure that I was mentally ready for this surgery. Once that was all done the doctor sent it off to my medicade insurance company (I have Great Lakes Medicade) and with in 2 weeks I recived my approval. I will be having surgery at Hurly hopital in Flint Michigan on the 29 of July. Hope this helps

I am about to have my lap band surgery on the 29th of July and I am looking for a support group near or in Jackson Michigan. If anyone knows of one please let me know so that I may go. Thank you
