  1. I am almost 3 weeks post op and now I am not losing any weight. I gained 2 lbs thru the week but am still down 20 since my surgery. I finally lost those 2 lbs again... I am barely eating maybe 300 calories a day. I am not hungry at all and actually forget to eat. I am just wondering when I will start losing again. I am afraid they wont give me a fill since I am not hungry and barely eating anything... Uggh has this happened to anyone else? I go for a checkup tomorrow morning. Thanks
  2. Hi guys...I am still new to this since being banded near the end of October... I got a fill 2 weeks ago and since then I cant eat in the morning or lunch... I usually can eat by the afternoon although last Friday I was able to eat NOTHING. Heres my problem... I lost a lot of weight during the liquid phase and it seems to be coming off slower now. I know my body is changing because my clothes are falling off of me. Is it normal to lose slower. I know I have restriction since I cant eat in the morning and barely at lunch. I see all of you who have lost 80 lbs 5 months out... I know I am no where near that. My mom and friends think I am not eating enough and maybe thats why I am losing so slowly... I would appreciate any comments...
  3. Greg, I think that this is normal course of action for a lot of people. You and I had the same drs office so alot of things you have said - I have been feeling as well. Some days are better than others. Some days I cant anything and others I am ok once I eat in the afternoon and feel satisfied for 6+ hours. I usually know when I am getting hungry - I call it my lower stomach ...lol... that I can hear it growling  Take care everyone thanks for the advice!

    Banded in october--updates please

Hi guys.. We need to have our own Oct 09 Bandsters listed somewhere so we can all post our progress. I had my surgery on 10/22 .. and I have lost about 24 lbs since then. And about 45 lbs total this year. I have had one fill in my 10cc AP Lapband. I think I have 4.8 ccs in it. The PA said she put 5 in but it was too much? I dont eat much especially in the morning or at lunch, I am too tight. I am just bummed that i am losing slower now only 1-2 lbs a week now. I am not eating my Protein like I would like since I barely can eat anything. Some days are better than others for me. I was hoping I would be able to get another fill before the end of the year but I am not going to get one since I dont need one at this time. I have dropped several clothing sizes and everyone is noticing my weightloss, although it is going slower than it did right after the surgery. I think I am losing alot of inches. I have gone from a tight 20W size to a regular 16 now  I love to hear how all of our fellow October 09 Bandsters are doing!!!

    2 months post op

Thats awesome. I had my surgery on 10/22 .. and I have lost about 24 lbs since then. Do you have restriction? I dont eat much especially in the morning or at lunch, I am too tight. I am just bummed that i am losing slower now only 1-2 lbs a week now... How are you doing? I am not eating my protein like I would like since I barely can eat anything. Some days are better than others for me. I was hoping I would be able to get another fill before the end of the year but I am not going to get one since I dont need one at this time. Please tell me how you are doing? Thx!
  6. How much weight did you lose after you got your 1st fill? I am just wondering how much weight people lost after getting their first fill and how long it took them to lose weight - I lost weight 2 weeks postop surgery and then nothing. I just got my first fill on Monday and am starting to see the scale move down...:tongue2:

    Totally disgusted

I hear you! We have all been where you are. I was banded on 10/22 and lost for 2 weeks and then nothing. Now 5 weeks since being banded I am losing again. I can tell you that your body is changing, so you may not see the lbs lost on the scale but your body is evolving and shrinking .... I cant wear the clothes that I could wear a month ago. Hang in there :tongue2:
  8. Same thing happens to me... it almost takes my breath away... I was banded 3 weeks ago... Dr said it is normal... It is about 6 inches away from port... No worries..
  9. Hi everyone. I was banded three weeks ago... I just started noticing some bruises on my body. Yesterday, I had an itch on my thigh, and today it has a huge bruise larger than your fist. I noticed I was itching my thigh but never thought I would get a bruise from it. I am not eating much, well let me say I havent been eating much at all maybe 300-500 calories a day with the exception of the last 2 days ... I think I am starting to get into bandster hell... so I am trying to use my head to stop me from eating much ! lol Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that they seem to be bruising very easily. I have never had this happen... Thanks!
  10. Tory09

    Bruising easily?

Yes you are right. I got heparin and something else as well... I will try to not fall and bump into many things... I am a clutz always but will try to be more careful  Thanks!
  11. I looked at the statistics, since I am a numbers person. The AP Lapbands statistics show at 1 yr 47% of their excess weight loss and the Realize band the statistics 43% at 3 years... so based on those I like the one with the most weight loss. Remember these are averages. I also liked the construction better on the AP Lapband. But thats just my opinion and 2 cents

On the go food for travel?

Hey girl! You know I had business meetings on Monday and had to travel 3 hrs to get to them. On the way we stopped at Ruby Tuesdays. I got the soup and then went to the salad bar and got soft food - like cottage cheese, some soft ham, potatoe salad, etc. I just moved it around my plate and ate very slowly. It did well for me
  13. Tory09

    Too much WL?

    When did you get banded?
  14. You are so right... I have lost inches...People in my work say my body has already changed shape... my clothes are falling off of me. But I hope the weight starts to fall off again. I am glad I am down the 2 lbs that I gained because now I am at my lowest weight in like 5 yrs.... Thanks for the advice...
  15. Thanks guys... Laney- on Sunday I forgot to eat pretty much the whole day and then I noticed my hands were shaking terribly - that never happened to me before. So I ate something. I am eating soft mushy foods still... I am trying to get protein in by eating tuna fish each day. One package is 13 grams of protein and only 100 calories. I cant really eat chicken - it seems to get stuck ... Talk to you all later.

    what's up with gaining?!

:tongue_smilie::smile: Dont worry about it. You are doing fine. I am almost 3 weeks post op and now I am not losing any more weight. I gained 2 lbs thru the week but am still down 20 since my surgery. I finally lost those 2 lbs again... I am barely eating maybe 300 calories a day. I am not hungry at all and actually forget to eat. I am just wondering when I will start losing again. I am afraid they wont give me a fill since i am not really hungry. I am not exercising until they give me the go ahead ... I go for a checkup tomorrow morning. I am still having pain so in the evenings after working 10 plus hours I am really tired. My clothes are falling off of me but I wish the weight would start going down again... I guess I need to be patient...

  18. Even though it has only been a few weeks since I have been banded and I have only lost 20 lbs, I felt ready for a change. I had my hairdresser turn my blond hair back to dark brown and put in caramel highlights. I also changed my hairdo the inverted bob for a different haircut. I have got a lot of compliments on my "change". I just cant wait to lose this remaining weight!
  19. Tory09

    not losing anymore :(

Juliansmom is right - we are all going thru it. I have stopped losing as well. But the almost 20 l lost during the past couple of weeks is helping me feel good since my clothes are so loose... I love the compliments I am getting ... everyone is right - we are not supposed to be losing much now - we are supposed to be healing ... the weight loss will come in a month or so once we get our first fills  Good luck to everyone!
  20. Hi everyone, I am so upset. I had my surgery on Thursday 10/22 and it was scheduled for outpatient meaning I could stay in the hospital if it was less than 24 hrs. Well my lb procedure took longer and the surgeon had to repair a severe hiatal hernia, and do a liver biopsy too. When I was released to go home I told the nurse I was ready to leave and she said not to worry I was just in observance and not using all the 24 hrs. Anyway when I got home today my insurance carrier sent me some standard form letter saying I was denied inpatient and they only approved outpatient. I called them and they said someone called the next day to get me inpatient status which this letter is saying they denied. I told the rep I was outpatient the whole time and she said if that was the case then it would be paid. But this letter said my inpatient status was denied. It said I would have been granted inpatient status if I had terrible pain, vomiting and nausea which I had all three of~! Has this happened to anyone else? I am so upset. Of course the hospital and the surgeons office was closed by this time. Please give me any advice and send your prayers and good thoughts my way. I am trying to put this in Gods hands but it is very hard to not worry!
  21. I am only 10 days postop and I have always slept on my tummy. Even though I am still sore, I have managed to prop up pillows all around me and I do sleep on my side. My husband said it looked as if I was sleeping on my tummy, but I was more or less laying on my side with pillows under me. It was pretty comfortable and didnt hurt. Good luck to you!

    Just banded last week

I know what you mean! We can make it thru it together
  23. Hi everyone, I am so upset. I had my surgery on Thursday 10/22 and it was scheduled for outpatient meaning I could stay in the hospital if it was less than 24 hrs. I had waited almost a month for the drs office and the hospital to agree to outpatient only. The hospital used to not allow lb procedure as an outpatient. My drs office said they finally agreed to do outpatient procedures as of Oct 1. Well my lb procedure took longer and the surgeon had to repair a severe hiatal hernia, and do a liver biopsy. I endured terrible pain, nausea, vomiting, etc while I was in the hospital the whole time but they let me go and I had been on the unit for maybe 22 hrs. When I was released to go home I told the nurse I was ready to leave and she said not to worry I was just in observance and not using all the 24 hrs. I feel this letter has shortened my life by a few years since I got so upset when I read it... Thanks for reading.

    Just banded last week

Hey girl! I am not having anything getting stuck but I am not hungry at all. All I have eaten today is 1/2 cup of soup and that was for lunch. I also drank tea in the morning and water this evening. I am wondering if its normal to be full? I have been like this for several days now. I am not sure if its the swelling or if my AP Lapband already has some fluid in it? Did you get the realize band?
