3 full days post op!!!
Physically I am feeling pretty good. Mentally I'm having a little bit of trouble! I'm really struggling with the "what the hell have I done to my self" feelings. I'm starving. liquids are playing havoc on my bathroom time. I want something solid to eat so badly. My post op requires 2 weeks of liquids. I went to full liquids today. I want to chew something. I think I'll get me some sugar free gum. I have been able to feel my band since day one. I can feel it around my stomach. I hate that weird feeling I get every time I swallow. I noticed this afternoon that it was not as noticeable as today. I gave my self a little scare, I was griping at my son for not putting away the groceries correctly, forgot what I was doing reach down and grabbed my juice and started chugging it. It was a couple of swallows before I realized what I was doing. I guess the swelling is going down, because it passed on through with no restriction. For dinner tonight I ran the lasagna my family had through the blender with broth. It was pretty good, it did have some bits but they were very small. It hasn't seemed to bother me. I made sure to drink lots of liquid with it. I'm so ready to start the mushy phase. I feel like I could, but I'm going to stick to the dr.'s direction, because everyone says it is so important. My biggest question is.....am I going to be able to do this?????? I WANT FOOD! Patty PS. it is so sad because I'm sitting here contemplating licking the left over garlic bread....how sick is that????

Ummm? Bathroom Question
:smile2::eek:Those that are on the liquid diet pre or post.....are you having any problem with diarrhea....I know it's gross to talk about but it's bad! I've actually changed clothes twice today. I don't have a gallbladder and was wondering if this was the cause or if anyone else was having this problem. I bought some liquid immodium today and will give it a try this afternoon. I'm trying not to stress my body with any more medications than I already have to take on a normal basis. Thanks Patty

band75!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear things are better, hope the gas passes fast! Why are men so weird when they are not able to "fix" something. My hubby is the same way. He took off and came with me, but was in a funky mood until I woke up and the anesthesia wore off. The last time he ate a meal was Thursday night. THe hospital has a nice cafeteria, but he refuses to eat. I've begged, pleaded, but I'' he will eat is the trail mix I brought for him to snack on. I told him it wouldn't bother me for him to eat in here, and I would be fine if he went and ate down there. I too skwirm my way out of bed, but I can do it! I'll be glad to get out tomorrow so he'll start being is old silly self! We are always here if you need us. My husband doesn't do well with just listening, he always feels like he needs to fix it. So I know I'll be here from time to time when I need a little help. Hugs Patty

What is the deal? *rant*
I must have missed some posts. I was just banded in Mexico yesterday. As a matter of fact I'm still laying in the hospital bed. I choose Mexico because insurance wouldn't pay and I didn't have enough cash to get it done in the states. It was a terribly hard decision to make, and think one should take a lot of time to decide about banding, especially in a foreign country. My experiance has been pretty good. The nursing staff is very pleasant but they do things a little differntly, than in the us. It hasn't been bad just different! I'm open to answering any questions people ask about my experience, but one should definetly research and make up their own mind. Patty

I' feeling bandy!
Everything went great! Got out of surgery about 5:00pm last night. I have a little tenderness at the port site. No shoulder pain from gas, and just a little heartburn feeling from time to time. Passes in seconds. They have already put me under florascope....everything is working just as it should. I'll be released tomorrow and be in the states by lunch time. I'm so motivated! Hope all my Friday bandits are having easy recovery's....Hug Patty

What have I done?
I finally got my coordinator on the phone. She told me to eat more fruits and vegetables even if I go over over the 50grams. She said just to stay away from white stuff (rice, bread, and potatoes) She also said if I wanted to eat a sandwhich to get some Ezekial bread from the health food store, but limit to two slices a day. She also said to add lowfat dairy into my diet. She said bump it up to 1200 calories a day, low fat, good carbs. I think this will help me feel alot better. She said to use low fat milk, fresh fruit and protien powder to up my calorie intake if I wanted to as well. I feel much better about things. I really thought I was gonna pass out in the door way of my office. It has been so bad yesterday and today, that I was going to quit driving myself, because I was afraid I'd pass out and hurt someone!!! She also said the about 2 days before my surgery to have 2 really good meals of my choice. Said it would give my body a boast before I went on Clear liquids. She said it isn't often that she has someone that is TOO compliant. She said that with the restricted diet and low calories I had done what my liver needed me to do....now I just basically needed to maintain. Maintanence appartenly is not as strict.....I don't know, It made sense when she said it!!!! Thanks, Patty

Surgery Postponed...
Well, I hate to hear that your postponed but at least it wasn't for a really long time. Better to go into this being healthy! Besides now we can be banded sisters...I'm scheduled for the 7th as well!

I Phone
I found another application called 8 glasses a day. I helps you track your water! Simplistic but it works.

What have I done?
Okay, my preop diet consists of solid Protein, less than 50 grams of carb per day, and low fat. I am currently on day 7. I have lost 15 lbs. I quit being hungry about day 4. I don't want food at all!! I am so weak. I am constantly running to the bathroom with diaharea. It takes everything I have to walk from the truck to the office (a total of maybe 30 feet). I have to sit down in the lobby before I go back to my office. After I exhaust myself, I get really nauseated! I have been tracking all my food, and typically I am only consumming 500-800 calories a day!!!!! I've been doing this long enough to know that this is not healthy, and this is why I feel so rotten. I have got to figure out how to up my caloric intake without going over my carb and fat limit. Protein shakes I have looked at are not that low in carb. If I drink them I cant have the fruit. I can only eat so much baked chicken with no sauce, beef with no sauce. Don't misunderstand me. I can stick to the diet, but I need more calories.... Now for the what have I done!!!!! I had to run an errand this morning. I went by the Taco Villa and ordered an order of meat nachos. Meat, cheese, chips and jalapenos. I ate it!!!!!! I feel tons better. Shakes are almost gone, dizziness is subsiding. THis is not something I am going to do again, I just felt if I didn't get some carbs and fat in my body, I was gonna collapse. Even my coworkers who are very supportive of what I am doing are a little freaked by my appearance. I look horrible. I'm back on the regimine. I told the girls in my office, if this screwed up my liver and I died on the table, to please know I died happy, and that those nasty fast food nachos were the best I nachos I have ever eaten. Now what???? I'm not going to keep doing that and I'm still a week out from surgery! Those of you on the liquid Protein shake diets....how many calories are you consumming a day??? I tried to call my coordinator, but she has not called me back!!! Open to suggestions....I'd willing go all liquid if it made me feel human again! Thanks Patty

The positive side of being fat
I've always been funny. I think because if they are laughing with you, they have a hard time laughing at you. I've been making people laugh so long I'm not sure I can stop, or if I want to. I've often wondered if I had been skinny would I have developed the same personality! Patty

Wish List!
1. Wear knee high boots (seems to be a common thread) 2. Shop anywhere I happen to be. 3. Fit into roller coasters 4. White water rafting 5. Fly without worrying about being charged for extra seat at the gate. 6. Be able to sit anywhere in our boat and still have it plane out properly 7. Have the energy to go out and do things on weeknights 8. get hit on by straners 9. get all the skin, pulled, tacked, and stapled 10. Not have people I assume I'm stupid and lazy:cursing:

Freaking out!
I think June has hit the nail on the head. All we know is failure. It's hard to wrap our heads around success. I think success can be a little scary. I've often wondered if being thin would change "me". I'm a natural flirt.....If I had better self esteem would I stop there? I'm married so I would, but it makes you stop and think. Take a deep breath you are going to be fine!!! Hugs, Patty
