  1. Would love to hear from people who are back to "normal" after lapband removal. Am having mine taken out only 5 weeks later for many reasons - basically I don't feel like myself at all and want my old self back! Yes, I've lost weight but I don't feel good at all! Most of these posts are people who just had theirs removed. How are those of you doing that had it done a few months (or years) ago? Thanks!
  2. I'm experiencing problems afterdrinking protein drinks (Advantedge or Boost) - my stomach hurts like crazy and I feel nauseous! I think this is called "dumping" and it usually improves in a few hours. I'm still on liquids and am trying to get my 40 grams of protein, but this is a real problem. Any ideas?
  3. How are you feeling now? I'm also experiencing nausea (no chest pain) and have ever since being banded on June 4. I'd love to hear how you are!

  4. Dear Mom:

I'm having my band taken out after 5 weeks. I can see that I am heading down your road - I think I have gastritis right now - already did the clear liquids at 2 weeks, upped the gerd medicine, and am "sipping' on Maalox constantly. This has wrecked my gut!

Can we be friends? I'd like to know how you feel after debanding and when you get back to normal. :->

    Another one bites the dust

I believe I am the only one in history to be getting her lap band out so quickly. Mine will be coming out this Thursday - 5 weeks after surgery. I am miserable, and should have had a psych eval, because my anxiety level is through the roof. I hope I can get myself back soon!
  6. I was banded 4 1/2 weeks ago. I have been miserable ever since! have to go back to teaching in 4 weeks, so I'm having it removed this week. I was a basically healthy person before who needed to lose 80 pounds. I worked out regularly and ate healthy foods (probably too much healthy food). Low blood pressure, cholesterol, no sign of sugar. I decided to get the band because I had a close friend who had it done after her daughter got the lap band, and she has been very happy with the results and the lifestyle. She has not had any of the uncomfortable symptoms that I am having. Now, I am nauseous all the time, feel very restricted, have developed lactose intolerance, have no energy, and am hating life. This was the biggest mistake of my life1! I am praying that this reversal will get "me" back. Good luck to you.
  7. I also have had major restriction, and can barely swallow. Also am nauseous and have to force myself to eat. Before this procedure, I was basically healthy, although I needed to lose 80 pounds. Now I am a shell of my former self. I have major reflux symptoms (in spite of taking Prilosec and sipping Maalox throughout the day), have become extremely lactose intolerant, and I don't even recognize the person I have become! I am praying that these symptoms will go away after the band is out, but I am worried that I will experience problems such as you are having. Yes, I miss coffee most of all!

    Band out and still suffering

Mary S: I'm having my band out after only 5 weeks - I couldn't take it! How are you feeling now?
  9. I'm having mine removed after only 5 weeks. I hate the way it makes me feel! However, I think my symptoms are unusual. I am having problems swallowing (there is no fill in my band), I get hungry and need to eat but food does not appeal at all (forcing myself to eat), I have no energy although I exercise 2 times a day, and yes I hate the idea of having this foreign object in me. I also am scared to death of the PBing (which has not happened, knock wood). So my darling husband is taking me back to Mexico to have it removed in 5 days! I wonder if anyone out there is happy to have theirs removed?

    Bye bye band!

Nanook: I'm having my band removed Thursday after only 5 weeks! I have been absolutely miserable and can't live my life like this. If you're still getting these emails I would love to know how you feel now. I want to feel like myself again!
  11. I'm having my band removed this week - when will I feel like my old self again? Ability to eat normal foods?

    Stomach Size:

I'm having mine taken out after only 5 weeks this week. Other than your stomach size, how do you feel?

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

I have been miserable since day one. I can hardly swallow anything but liquid, I can't sleep, I have no energy, and I can't even begin to eat the amount of food that is recommended for week 5. No one I know has had my symptoms. I just do not like the idea of this thing being in me - and I don't even recognize myself anymore. I don't want to go anywhere, see anyone, do anything. I force myself to walk each morning and night, but otherwise, I am miserable and unhappy. I have to force myself to eat and nothing tastes good at all!!! Before the banding, I was active, excercising regularly, feeling good. I just struggled to lose weight and thought that this would be a tool to help me with the weight control. However, it is not for me.

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

I know this is an old post, but if you are still around, I'd love to hear how you are doing. I'm having my band removed after only 5 weeks. I HATE IT!!! I want my life back!
  15. Three weeks after my banding surgery, I am having a hard time swallowing anything (even liquids). What happens is that the stuff goes down - slowly - but then I feel like I have to clear my throat constantly and my neck is stiff. I also burp uncomfortably a lot. I've looked over the forums and this appears to happen to those who have had too much of a fill. However, I only have a new (3 week old) band! The problem is now complicated by the fact that my hunger has returned. So I am STARVING and I cannot get enough nutrition. My daily calorie intake is less than 500 calories, and I think after 3 weeks my body is rebelling. Help!
  16. I have not eaten anything hardly - a few bites of egg salad when I was supposedly allowed to (after 2 weeks). Chewed to death - that's all. I hope I'm still healing down there, but I don't know. I've emailed my doctor, and he emailed me saying my lapband was probably tight which means I'll get a good result. I emailed him Wednesday and said I'm still having trouble but have not heard back.
