What Was Your Liquid Diet Pre-Op?
What did your full liquid pre-op diet consist of? My surgeon just sort of glossed over this topic since I'm a band to sleeve revision. However, I wasn't required to do a pre-op diet with my band. So, just so I can get some ideas and know what to shop for, what was on YOUR pre-op liquid diet?

Doing The Surgery Alone?
My husband is the one that's military. I'm not anymore. Unfortunately, he's not stationed nearby, and I'm living here while he's deployed since I just love this city so much. HOWEVER!! We were able to work it out so that my parents will be able to take care of me! I'm an adult and still need my parents, lol! I'm okay with that, though.

Doing The Surgery Alone?
Yeah, a taxi is definitely do-able, but I was thinking more of my control issues! Haha! I hate relying on people and prefer to do things myself. But, safety first. I'm trying to think back to my band surgery, and I could have driven, probably, but I didn't try for weeks, since my husband was on leave.

Doing The Surgery Alone?
Or, the dog at least. The cat is no maintenance, and will be good for comfort after surgery.

Doing The Surgery Alone?
Lol, my management here are jerks! I'm likely going to take them to this fabulous sitter I have.

Doing The Surgery Alone?
Thanks! Unfortunately, I'm in Texas. I may post something on here to look for some assistance. I hadn't thought of that.

How Longs Is Your Pre-Op Diet?

Doing The Surgery Alone?
That make me a little more hopeful. After the band, I relied heavily on my husband, because I was scared to injure something. Now, I won't have a choice. I'm mainly worried about not being able to care for my animals, or having some sort of complication that would require me to go back to the hospital.

Doing The Surgery Alone?
I have my band to sleeve revision scheduled for March 27th, but the person who was supposed to take me to and from the hospital and stay with me for a couple days after is no longer able to. My husband is deployed and I don't live near any family. Literally, I have no other options. Has anyone ever driven themselves home from the hospital after this surgery? I can drop my pets off at the sitter so I won't have to walk up and down stairs multiple times by myself and bend to feed them and such. I just honestly don't remember the recovery from my band all that much, and I had my husband home to help me. Am I getting myself into something absurdly stupid, if I plan to go this alone? I'll have a couple days in the hospital, so its not like I'll be going home the day after, but I'm just running out of options now. My other option is to cancel my surgery.

This app looks interesting! I'm downloading it now.

Realize Band Website
Their site sucks. I tried it initially after surgery, but sparkpeople.com works so much better for me.

Anyone never gotten stuck?
I've never been stuck, but I was only banded in early November 2009. I'm just now getting a glimmer of restriction, so I do get some discomfort if I eat too fast, though.

How many calories a day have you been told to intake?
I was told 700-900, but my body just wasn't havin that. I usually fluctuate between 1000-1400 a day. When I only got 700-900 a day, I was tired, cranky, listless, unmotivated. I couldn't make myself do ANY exercise. I was just miserable. A slightly higher number works MUCH better for me.

How to mince ginger??
Or you could just grate it on your microplane, or if you want larger pieces, on the large side of a box grater.

Who stayed overnight and why?
I stayed overnight, even though it wasn't planned. A piece of my liver "broke" apparently, and I had some bleeding issues, so they were worried. I checked in at 530 Monday morning, and left around 8pm Tuesday night. I'm glad, because I needed the adjustable bed. My gas pain was so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack a couple times.

Mushies Stage Recipes
I disagree with this. I've had hot and sour soup for dinner the past couple days with nothing. It varies person to person. I have no problem with spice, band-related, at least.

No pre-surgery diet?
Okay, making sure I wasn't the only one! Hopefully I'll have to fast for 12 hours pre-op, rather than 24 hours, because I have a breakfast planned with friends Sunday morning, and I go in Monday morning!

No pre-surgery diet?
Did anyone NOT have to do a pre-surgery diet? I had my first pre-op appointment today, with another one scheduled for Thursday, and I've been told nothing about a liquid diet or anything beforehand. My surgery is scheduled for Monday. Am I the oddball here?

Any November 2009 Bandsters??
I'm getting banded in November, too. I got my date, then they called and moved it up a day to November 2nd. I"m nervous!

Got my date!
No, they scheduled that for the week before my surgery date. What can I expect for that?

Got my date!

Had my first meeting with the surgeon today
Today, my surgeon had his WLS "class," where he also did our initial consultations. According to him, by Tricare standards, I'm approved, pending the psych eval. He said I'm a perfect candidate, barring being found completely insane. He does the approvals for the surgeries he does, and said I could be in for the actual surgery in 6-8 weeks. I'm so unbelieveably excited!
