  1. Well, I've entered Bandland!! All went well with my surgery and I am having slight discomfort, but can't really say it's pain. So, I'm feeling pretty good. Spent the night in the hospital on Friday and today we are in a hotel in San Antonio. We fly home tomorrow. I'm going to do some walking, take a shower and relax some now.
  2. Hey everyone!! I'm in Del Rio and just got back from Acuna where we had dinner!! I'm so exited. The other gal having her lapband done has her sister with her. The sister is a surgical nurse and has been down here with 4 other people that had their band done by Dr. Rod. We had a great time at the Mexican Restaurant and had a mariachi (sp?) band play music for us. Anyway, now back in hotel and drinking Water before midnight. Tomorrow I'll enter bandland. Glad to hear KMO is doing well!! Thoughts and prayers for all of you newbies!!
  3. I must agree with Darcy!! I ordered the 4 samples for around 10.00 (inc. shipping) to try them. The only one I haven't tried is the unflavored one that I will mix with my broth, crystal light, juice, etc. I just re-ordered the big containers of the vanilla and unflavored. I'm not one for the taste of any type of Protein drink but these were pretty good. The chocolate was good, too, but the vanilla tasted great with blueberries in a blender and I figure I can always "flavor up" the vanilla. I'm getting ready to go tomorrow for my surgery on Friday (Mexico). unjury is pretty good about getting it to you quickly, as well. Should have it early next week when I need it.
  4. Well, I am getting nervous! It sure helps to see how those of you who have your bands are doing!! Keep it up!! This has been encouraging to me. I will have my band on Friday!! We travel to Mexico on Thursday. My dh is going with me! I'm ready....I think...lol! I love reading the suggestions for food, etc. I bought some juices, bouillion cubes, jello today. I will go tomorrow and get some other supplies. I feel like get a lot of information and support from ya'll and hope that I can be a support and encouragement to you, too!! (although I'm a Michigander, living in TX for 12 years, I now speak a different language...lol)
  5. Congratulations to those who have been just banded!! My time is next Friday, July 28. Hope you are all recovering well!!
  6. There are many from the church I go to that travel to Juarez Mexico across the border from El Paso to have dental work done at the clinic that is part of Emmanuel Ministries (think that's the name). We go on mission trips to the children's home there and do painting and other work around there, help the staff and play with the children. The children's home is Hogar de ninos. They also have a medical clinic and the doc showed me the surgery room and slide show on his computer of a Total Knee Replacement that he and some other docs did there. The lady is now walking around the neighborhood. I was a little surprised, but he also performed a tummy tuck on a relative of his. How about that? I think this made me a little more open to having my lapband done in Mexico, along with research and testimonies of other patients. Oh,and the dental work is less expensive. I know of a guy who needed lots done and had no dental insurance, so he either drove or hopped southwest to el paso and then over to Mexico. Turned out well for him.
  7. Actually, I had told her to check out Port Huron as I believe that the docs there were proctored by one of the Mexican docs I was looking at. Not positive about that, but I knew they were one of the more experienced places in Michigan. Thanks for your input and hope all goes well!!
  8. Just wanted to stop in and say "hi" from Texas. I am a Michigander, although I live in Texas now!! Miss the weather up there. Visited for 2 weeks in early July and now I'm back in 100+ weather!!! Ugh!! Well, my sister is thinking about lapband and lives in Bay City. I want her to go to an experienced doctor of lapband....over 1,000...any advice?? I will be banded on July 28 in Mexico (self pay). Thanks!!
