I'm here to help...
thanks for the tips on being so tight in the mornings. I keep hearing this little voice in my head saying "not eating breakfast is bad" but at sametme I need the restriction whenever I am blessed with it and for me that seems to be in the a.m. So I am thinking that I should take advantage of being tight and move my bigger meals to lunch/dinner??

Don't raise your expectations too high on that first fill! Your doctor seems more converative than mine! That first fill did nothing for most of us, but its better than none!

Hi everyone Got my decorations up finally. We had some terrible rainy weather last night. I am glad it has passed today. Can any of you experienced banders answer a question? Why is the band tighter in the morning then in the evenings? I can barely consume a protein shake in the morning but by the afternoon I can eat much more. Is this normal?

I thought about that myself, I do take a multivitamins and have liquid complex b and there are vitamins in my protein shakes. But still I worry because by time I eat the required protein, I am full and have no room to eat veggies or fruits. But I also know this restriction will probably not last more than a couple weeks before it is gone again, snif, snif Amanda, you continue to be our honor student, your weightloss is absolutely amazing. You should do a blog to record all your accomplishments!

I'm here to help...
Happy Holidays Everyone! I had my 2nd fill yesterday and I finally feel like I have a band inside me! After feeling absolutely nothing after my first fill, I was beginning to worry he forgot to put one in there! LOL I now have 5cc in my 10cc band, but my doc says most people need to get up to at least 7cc before it begins to work. I was just curious if this was the case with yours?

Finally, Mr. Scale is starting to move. I was beginning to believe the darn thing was broken! LOL I guess that 2nd fill helped, even if it just gave me a kick in the booty. I hope this restriction lasts at least a couple of weeks.

Deb, I did get my 2nd fill today, I now have 5cc in my 10cc band. It felt much different this time. Whereas I felt nothing at all with the first one, I felt this one right away. I am hoping the three days of liquids will jump start my weight loss again...

I am very sorry you had so much difficulty. You are much stronger than me. I think if I had the complications you experienced and had to have that port removed, I would have just given up and had the whole think yanked. I admire your courage and commitment !

Good luck Deb! My 2nd fill was not scheduled until Dec.8th, I moved it to today in hopes of convincing them to give it to me sooner since I felt nothing from the last one.

What about food? are u measuring? what is your typical day of eating (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks). I really am just disgusted and ready to give up! Grrrrrrrr!

I saw this article on web MD about wii games, I thought I would post since alot of us banders are either already doing wii or planning on it. To estimate energy expenditure, they used a standard unit called METs, or metabolic equivalent values. "A MET of 3, for example, means an activity requires three times as much energy expenditure as resting," Miyachi says. According to AHA guidelines, light-intensity exercise is less than 3 METs, moderate-intensity exercise is 3 to 6 METs, and vigorous activity is more than 6 METs. An adult walking 3 miles an hour on a flat surface expends just over 3 METs, the AHA says. The study shows that: Nine Wii activities required an energy expenditure of less than 2 METs. 23 activities required 2 to 3 METs. None of the activities required 3 to 4 METs. Five activities required more than 4 METs. The most intense exercise was the single-arm stand in the Wii fit package, which required an energy expenditure of nearly 6 METs. "It's a difficult resistance exercise that involves standing up and lying down," Miyachi says. The Wii sports boxing game came in at 4 1/2 METs, while both the Wii tennis and baseball games were associated with moderate-intensity expenditures of about 3 METs. Wii golfers and bowlers may have to get out and do the real thing to get the health benefits of exercise: both came in at less than 3 METs. While yoga and balance exercises didn't burn as many calories as other Wii activities, they help improve flexibility and reduce the risk for falls.

Your welcome, If he were not going to be home with his family, I would have gotten my kiddies to send him some cards or package. He won't need them since he will have the gift of being home. But if he has any buddies that might appreciate some cards from my children, please let me know, they would jump at the chance to do so! :w00t::wub::wub::smile:

I am very happy for you that your husband is coming home and its very kewl that your coming to the coast. My doctor is also very conservative. I did not feel anything from my first fill and I am hoping for more from my second fill. I don't know if your doctor will give you another fill if he knows you will be headed out of town. Mine wouldn't, but it doesn't hurt to ask. My gym has a nursery, do you know if there is one near you that offers that? Just a thought, most gyms will give you a short trial membership. Good luck!

We have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a lifetime journey and we are not on a timetable. I am stuck right now too, but I just keep trying to do the right thing and forgive myself when I am not 100% perfect and make a mistake. Getting back on my healthy lifestyle after making a poor choice is a HUGE improvement for me. In the past, one poor choice would send me on a eating binge or make me give up all together. Since being banded, I don't see that happening anymore.:wink2::wub::tongue2::wub:
