  1. I am curious if the way my doc has set up things after surgery as so to limit the time in bandster hell? I had no ccs in my band at surgery time then 4 weeks post op liquid diet then I go in for a fill and after 48 hours start mushies for 3 weeks in which case I can have another fill if needed. Seems that limits the time where I can eat anything because of no restriction? Anyhow anyone else have anything similar?
  2. Same for me banded 10/29 and I'd like to do 20 by Christmas. Can't wait til my excersize restriction is off!
  3. Yes in fact on the nutrition book they gave us they have a list of food to avoid for life. It also includes caffine. The nutritionist said that some people dont follow these reccs to a t but the best success theyve seen is from people who do. His thought i guess is that dairy is fattening even the low fat kind.
  4. Hey but what you can do is heat the water let it cool alittle then mix it in. The powder cant be deated though. Ive made hot choc protein drinks this way!
  5. My doc has us do liquids for 4 weeks post op before moving to mushies and today I just really needed to have something more filling. We dont get cream Soups only broth so I made tomato Soup and then melted alittle cheese in it. I didnt each much but I am kinda upset I couldnt stick to the whole schedule. I can have tomato juice so I figured soup wouldnt be too far a strech. I didnt have any pain but did have alittle rumbling in my stomach but it does that anytime I put anything but Water in. Any suggestions if you think is this a huge mistep? Did you have anything similar a week after? I dont want to mess up my band but I know I cant stick 100 percent to my docs recc he has all dairy as a no no for life after banding. I can give up carbs but not carbs and cheese lmao!
  6. i am on 4 weeks! but i think its about the healing and what your doc wants. I mean docs place ports in diff places and everything so each doc is diff. I am army wife but had mine done with civilian but tricare played. congrats!!
  7. My doc does 4 weeks liquid post op and I was banded the same day as you. I know hes a nazi though but he has great results and is one of the centers of excellence and has another certification i forget. I am glad to know you didnt have any problems becase I may give in and do pureed Soups like tomato or broc and chez in small amounts. So far Im not hungry except today I fixed hubby dinner and it smelled so good. before I wasnt even interested. Good luck!
  8. Hi there, I was banded last week and I think it is all about mindset and if you really want the band. Someone earlier made the comment about if you can loose the weight without the band do it and save yourself the money/time/stress. I could do that but what I love about the band is that it is a life long tool to help me be fit. I have yet to have kids, women in my family are so very obese I am scared if I did loose weight Id be right back there after kids. Nothing comes easy. The band so far has been a great decision. I have a doctor who is very strict. 2 week pre op liquid diet and four week post op before going to mushies! I admit it is hard but I can do it and the great thing is I have this tool to help me. As far as telling anyone only you know yourself so make the decision for yourself. Close family will and should support you and if you dont have that support find it through this and meet ups. My hospital has support groups so you can even start going to those now. Good luck!!
  9. Congrats!!! I was banded last week and its great to be on this journey. Just remember when your feeling any doubt that this is only gonna get better with every day!!!
  10. Thanks for those who have posted so far! I understand that bread equals weight gain but many fit people eat it in moderation so I was asking for this info once I hit that stage where I am at goal and wanting to just maintain. Again thanks everyone!
  11. Hey I am along way from having real food as I was just banded last week but I love Subway and it has always been a healthier alternative to fast food. I am curious to those with the band have you been able to tolerate it at all? Any special tricks you do when ordering? I know there is a good chance I cant eat bread so what about the wraps they have? Thanks any help is much appreciated!!
  12. I was banded on Oct 29th. My port is on my upper left side and is still sore when I get up and down or bend. I am waiting for all this bloating to be over with though but then I heard you enter Bandster hell so maybe not lol! Oh and I got the Realize band and a card from then with the info on it.
  13. Had surgery yesterday and also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I am doing okay have the swelling everyone mentions and it hurts to bed any so I have been staying away from that. Walking as much as I can though. I have post op appointment next week. Hang in there everyone!

  15. Hi, So I was unhappy with my army doctor and found out I can see a civilian. I looked up one near me and covered by tricare (shes an ARNP). I also knew of a weight loss surgeon on the same medical group as her so that was my drive in getting in with a general practioner with this group. I saw her on my first visit talked about my health, birth control and said I wanted WLS. I told her I had a seminar scheduled and she was very supportive. She got me set up for a sleep anea study as I only had one other co morbid which was high blood pressue. You can see my dates below but my process has been super smooth. I dont know how it is getting it done on post as I know some do it. For me I had Tricare approval the same day it was submitted by my doctors office and they even had a tricare nurse call to tell. I am sure this is the best decision of my life. I have paid no out of pocket costs and am on Tricare Prime West Region. I have had everything done but Psych eval which will be done tonight. Anyhow feel free to email with any questions and good luck!!
  16. I dont know what my preop diet will consist of yet. But I am worried because I have been eating well and working out but I still need to eat a good amount. I eat less and then am still starving. I dont have a problem with eating more then (healthy) because I feel my body needs it and its not over eating. When I am working out 1 to 2 hours a day I cant eat like a rabbit. My question is what did your preop diet consit of? I know they say liquids starting 10/15 and surgery is 10/29. Did you get a big dinner with just liquid Breakfast and lunch? I would like to keep my workout momentum that way I don't slack too much just cause I had surgery. Thanks!!!
  17. I am Triwest and I just got approval last week. They did it same day! I have surgery Oct 29th. So far no expense but I still have a few tests to do. I have done consults and egd so far and those were covered.
  18. I just got my insurance approval Monday and surgery date today!! I am being banded Oct 29th and I am sooo happy to finally have a day and know when this new life will be starting. This is one of the best decisions I have ever made!
  19. I just got a call today and I am Oct 29th!!! Yipee I am so excited I can't wait.
  20. My surgery was approved on Monday! Yay for Tricare. They approved in one day. Now I am just waiting for the doctors office to call with a surgery date. I was told it will probably be at the end of November. How long after approval did it take to get your date? In case your wondering I found out about approval from insurace company not doctors office.
  21. I went in at 9am and was done by 1pm. It would have been quicker but it took awhile to get the iv in. I can't wait to get my results friday and get insurance approval.
  22. Just thought I'd share for any of you who have yours still to come. I went in for mine yesterday at 9am. Completed paperwork and was off to get an iv. Unfortunately it took them 9 tries to hit a vein! I have very small hidey veins. After that it was a breeze though. I feel entirely out and woke up afterward with no idea of what went on. I had no sore throat as suggested and was groggy but that got better as the day went on. Next week I have my follow up appt and then insurance approval and finally my surgery will get scheduled! I am soooo ready.
  23. I am seeing a personal trainer and we work out pretty hard. Cardio and strength training. I know my doc will give me specific instructions but I was wondering what everyone else did after surgery to still work out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know they say to walk a lot but anything else?? Thanks.
  24. I am 29 and dont have a date yet. ECG is next week so I am think early October. I have lost 20 lbs since my weight loss seminar and hope to loose as much before the actual surgery date. I have told a lot of people but I am a big mouth. I have told my family and close friends as well as coworkers. I work in a place with less than 20 people. Everyone has been very supportive and I wanted that same support in place after surgery.
  25. Congrats!!! It is so great to work towards progress. Read the boards its helped me out bunches.
