  1. I am curious...where do surgeons place the port? What is it attached to??
  2. Dpingl, I am sorry to hear about your difficult experiences! I wonder what happened...Did you have to do a liquid diet pre-op or did you have any health concerns that may have caused the severe nausea? I hope that you are feeling better!
  3. Sherry-I hope you enjoy Cars! How was it? Well today was my first day of the liquid diet that I need to do for ten days. I am surviving...hungry, feeling a little weak (i think i need to hydrate more) but surviving...nine more days! Wish me luck!

The numbers below really got to me...I measured my hips, bust, stomach, thigh and upper arm, and those numbers really depressed me, even more than my weight does...Well, I am working hard to lower than and onto a happier, healthier me! Here they are: Bust- 52 inches Waist- 50 inches Hips- 55 1/2 inches Thigh - 31 inches Upper Arm- 17 1/2 inches Well at least my bust is wider than my waist...i guess that is something...

  6. So...today was my first day of the liquid diet and the day is almost over, thank goodness! :faint: It was difficult. I am glad that I have been preparing myself b/c it would have been so much more unmanagable if I hadnt. Here is what I had today. Breakfast: 1 Target "slimfast" shake Lunch: 1 Yoplait Yogart Smoothie Dinner: 1 can of cheese soup *I cheated a bit here with the fat content of the soup I also had about 20 oz. of water all together, which I need to hydrate more than this! Today I went to GNC and purchased protein shake powder. GNC was having a special on their brand of products were it was buy one get one 50% off. So I got two very large tubs of protein powder for under $50! I am going to try and make one tonight...we'll see how it goes.

  8. Tomorrow I begin "The Liquid Diet." Over the last week I have been trying to enjoy food, not gorging myself or going crazy, but having at least one meal that I really enjoy. I have been religiously continuing my "practice" liquid diet and have managed to keep off 6lbs. which you can hardly tell...not too surprised when I have 150 more to lose! My boyfriend Joe works late tonight and wont be home until 11, but we are ordering out at our favorite pizza place, Papa Johns and that will be my last meal pre-band. I also had a chance to go out to eat tonight with my sister at Panera and then a sundae at Culvers! :hungry: But really and honestly, I am looking forward to changing my lifestyle, I am just really scared about the surgery and having a foregin object installed in my body...and today my mom said to me " well you know you dont have to do it..." :tired Yeah and I also wish that I woke up tomorrow being 150 lbs, but that aint gonna happen on its own! Well, wish me luck with my liquid diet, I am going to need it! :nervous

  10. Piper-I totally understand what you are saying. I am 5'3 and weigh 270 and havent had any kids! And I have tried...and tried...and failed...:faint: I was also very very reluctant (and that is saying it lightly) to look further into the lapband b/c that would be admitting that I am obese, and not did I only find I am obese I am "morbidly obese." It was so hard to admit that to myself...even though deep down I knew it, I knew it when I couldnt fit on a roller coaster, I knew it when my pants size went up into the middle 20s...i knew it and now with this knowledge I can change and that makes me happy. It is also so worth it to be healthier and happier and now I am just a mere 10 days to my lapband surgery after I admitted to myself that I am "morbidly obese" back in july!!!
  11. Good Luck with everything Laurend. I am still dealing with my family being unsupportive, and my surgery is only 10 days away now! Actually, just tonight my mother said to me "you know you dont have to go through this..." It is difficult when family isnt supportive, but it is important to find some form of support, this board is great and i am sure your hospital will offer support groups as well! Best Wishes!
  12. Hello Everyone! Thank you for all of your encouraging words! I love to read your posts! I love how you all are so supportive and hilarious, a great combination! Laughter does Heal! Mandy-I would really appreciate the "shopping list" that you used pre-op. I have bought a few things that I figured I would need, but I want to be as prepared as possible, since I will be alone. Also, I wanted to let you know that you have been in my thoughts regarding the IEP meetings, as a teacher I see a lot of parents go through them and I know that they can be very difficult... Everyone else--have a great weekend, I am lucky enough to be off tomorrow after a few grueling days of parent/teacher conferences!
  13. Welcome Back Angela! It is so good to hear from you! I am so happy to hear that your experience went well! Any advice or suggestions??? I am starting to get really really nevous with my surgery only being 10 days away now....and today my mom said "well you know you dont need to go through this..." Again, I am so happy to hear from you!!!
  14. I would really appreciate you sharing anything with me Diane! Thank you! Hm...it would be really great to get together with other bandsters anyways....even if it is at Ram and I love to eat and drink (not healthy ones) there!!!!
  15. I love Ram!!! However, I am starting my liquid diet tomorrow...and dont think it would be great for me to go out to "eat" on it....I would definitely be up for a get together after my surgery, since I have the liquid diet up until then...sorry guys...
  16. Hello! I have been on this board since July 06 and it has been sooo helpful to me! I am finally getting "banded" on Nov. 20th. Check out my journal if you wish, I have documented in there a lot of the entire process to help those who are starting to go through it! Take care and good luck! :welcome2: :welcomeB:
  17. Mandy--I would be truly in for it. I know all to well how it goes when you set something up and no one shows. I would love to do that once I am banded and feeling like going out. Also distance is a factor for me too, I live in Dekalb....But I think it would be great!
  18. Hello! I am worried about something in particular after surgery....:straight I was expecting to have my boyfriend around a lot more after the surgery than he truly will be able to. He found out recently that his work wont let him off on some days that we were hoping they would... What I am truly worried about is being able to get out of bed/off a couch, basically sit up on my own without assistance. Now I understand that we all vary idividually is the sense of recovery, but I was just wonderign what you all thought of that....:guess

  20. Mandy---I Love Market Day! Is there something that you can recommed that is bandster and vegetarian friendly??? Good Luck with your IEP meeting!!!!
  21. Thank you all for the encouraging words! Here is a pretty picture for everyone to brighten their day!
  22. I am going to be banded in Dekalb, IL at Kishwaukee Hospital by Dr. Maillifer. Only 13 more days! I am starting to get rather nervous and having those second thoughts...but I really think that it is the best decision for me. My boyfriend is really really worried that something "bad" is going to happen... Darcy--what are you training for, sounds interesting? Everyone thank you for the warm welcome. I dont really have any fart stories yet! he he
  23. Hello All! I had a pretty emotional conversation with my boyfriend this morning about the surgery. He is very worried about me having a surgery and something going wrong, he is also supportive (really the one who is very close to me who is supportive), but I think is having difficulty with the idea of me going under the knife. I have tried to encourage him (and myself) does anyone have any words of wisdom that I should share with him? :thankyou:
  24. I wish everyone safe travels!!!
  25. Karen my thoughts and prayers are with you!!! I hope that all goes well! You have made this board so pleasant and I really appreciate it!
