    Thinthin (Deb) Aug. 7, 2009
  2. Hello, I was banded Friday Aug. 7th in Champaign IL. Everything went fine with surgery. I did pass out that night... I think my blood pressure bottomed out. I feel better everyday tho. Not too much soreness, am having some gas pains. I start my full liquid diet tomorrow and am ready. I feel hungry. I have been on clear liquids since surgery. I would love to be an August bander. How do I join?

  8. My insurance was BCBS of Illinois. It does feel at times that you jumping through hoops but it will be worth it in the end. Good luck!!!

It was a PPO. do you have BCBS insurance? If so, do you have any idea what the out of pocket expense will be? I am so excited.

    BMI 39-bcbs of north carolina

Hang in there! I have BCBS of ILLinois insurance. It took about 7-8 months to get approved. I had to follow a 6month monitored diet. I weighed 211 at start of diet, am 5'2". I wasn't quite 40 BMI and have no significant health issues. I too have tried many diets. My surgery date is 8/7. I just received my acceptance letter last week and am so excited. I was discouraged when I was told the only way I could get approved was to "jump through the insurance hoops" but that was last November. If I had not started then, I would still be wishing I could get approved. So hang in there, just do what they tell you to do and it will happen!!!! Look forward to hearing from you.

    Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?

Hello, I am from Paxton,IL - surgery scheduled for 8/7/09. I am so excited there are people on here from my area. Look forward to hearing from you. Can't wait until my surgery is done!!!!
  13. Hello, I am new to this site - just received my surgery date (8/7/09). I am 5'2" and weigh 207. My BMI was not quite 40 and I have no significant health problems so I was very surprised that my insurance approved me. I did do a 6 month doctor monitored diet prior to being approved. Several of my friends/coworkers have had the surgery and swear by it. I know it is not a quick fix, but a life style change and am willing and ready to embrace that. I have only been struggling with weight loss for the past 15 years but have tried many diets during that time, gained some, lost some. I want the surgery so I can prevent health problems - diabetes, heart problems. I just want to enjoy life and be able to do things with my kids, grandkids. I want to be able to walk without being short of breath or my feet killing me. I think with the obesity epidemic today and the success of this surgery, it will become easier to get banded - hopefully insurance companies will see the savings on health issues down the road and start approving patients before their BMI is so high. Sorry if I sound like I am rambling but I am just so excited to finally have this procedure approved and a surgery date scheduled. I worried that I would not be appropriate by insurance standards and did not want to wait until health problems started and then try to get it approved.
