    Manitoba anyone?

HELP!!! lol. I met with Danielle yesturday and have surgery booked for the 1st of September but after our consultation yesturday, I am having big big reservations. I feel like with all those resitrictions, I could do this on my own if I really tried...and without spending the small fortune. I have to meet with Jen tomorrow to pick up the meditrim diet and give my deposit, but I'm not so sure this is the right thing. I have to give up so much but I could do this on my own. Any suggestions?? I am so confused and have to decide by tomorrow. If I do go ahead, I would love to start up a face to face support group...I live in the south end of the city.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Everyone! So it is booked! I get banded Sept 1. I finally committed to a date and I am freaking out. I'm really excited but the amount of money was hard to swallow. I just keep reminding myself that if I lose weight with this and feel better, it is worth every penny. This has been great support for the decision but am wondering if anyone knows of a support group in Winnipeg, I guess a real life one I'm looking for aswell. Also, I think I asked this before but did anyone experience any hair loss? And...has anyone reached a plateau with their weight loss? or does the lap band allow you to lose weight continuously? Thanks for all the support and it's a big reason why I decided to go ahead with it. Hearing all your successes makes me really excited to start my journey!!

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Everyone. So I really want to book my surgery for Sept. 1 but I am having problems with financing. The bank is giving me a hard time because I started a new career a year ago. Has anyone gotten financing from the lender that deals with Maples? Let me know ! Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, maybe I will talk to Jen. I know it's not a quick fix but the eating healthy and excersing is something I think I could just do on my own, but I don't know. I'm so torn. I want the weigth gone! but need to figure out if this is my only option. For the people who have had the surgery... has anyone regretted it and also, has anyone not been happy with the results? Thanks everyone for the support

    Manitoba anyone?

Wow, I read your blog adn it's like I was reading my own. Jen called me last week telling me there was an opening Aug.14 if I wanted to book the surgery. I was planning on Sept.15 but still was not 100% sure if I even wanted to do it. I agreed to Aug.14 but backed down because I felt too rushed. After I told her no, I didn't understand why I did that. I want this surgery and want to change my life, but am so hesitant for some reason. I've never had surgery and am also nervous to be put to sleep. So, basically I am in the same boat as you but atleast you have committed to a date!

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Everyone, sorry to change the topic a bit but my surgery date was supposed to be August 11 and now I will have to wait til September or possible October because my blood pressure was elevated and I am now trying a new pill for that. The only thing, is I'm scared I"m going to change my mind now!! I really want this surgery but I want it done and over with. Did anyone else experience this back and forth?
  7. You look amazing!!! I honestly made my decision from looking at your progress! You mentioned in one of your pics about your hair, did you experience hair loss? I'm a little worried about that.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi All, Well, I was hoping to get banded on Aug.11 and now it may have to be pushed back a month because my blood pressure is high and have started on a new medication so they would like for me to be on it for a month before doing the surgery. I just hope I still get the discount. To save $2000 would be nice, although it wouldn't change my mind if I didn't get it. It's understandable but I was really wanting to just get this over with!!! Has anyone experienced hair loss? I spoke to someone who had the surgery a year ago and she told me that was one of her symptoms. Glad to hear all your successful stories...it's really motivating!
  9. I totally understand where you're coming from. I am hopefully getting banded August 11 and it took me almost 2 years to actually be 100% sure about it. The cost is a huge factor for me. I live in Winnipeg, Mb and our health care does not cover it. It's going to cost me over $16000. I'm a single mom of two and had to think long and hard if this is the right decision to spend that amount of money on myself with two little kids. The biggest issue is that I want to be around for my kids and have more energy to chase them around and enjoy every minute with them instead of being too tired and having to sit and watch play. Now, just dealing with the fear of the surgery! lol

    Manitoba anyone?

Thanks so much you guys for your advice. I've decided to go ahead with it. Hoping to get the procedure done August 11th. Just have to figure out how I'm gonna pay for it, lol. One more question if anyone can answer...I heard someone saying something about losing hair as a result of the lap band. Is this true? Do the doctors recommend taking a multi vitamin since you will be consuming less nutrients? There is so much to learn about this lapband!!! Thanks again!

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Everyone, I find it so funny that a few of you were at Maple Surgical Center last Saturday because I was there too for my consultation. I was the one with the baby if any of you remember, lol. I just have some concerns and if any of you can help me with some info, I'd really appreciate it. #1- I keep hearing about this "banster hell", lol. Can anyone fill me in. I"m concerned about getting this procedure done if the recovery is terrible. I'm a real estate agent and a single mother of two little ones so I can't be "out of order" for too long. Is the recovery that bad? #2 - Also, I'm concerned about not losing weight. Is that possible? I also see some of you talking about weight watchers and herbal magic (done both) and I'm kinda confused. I thought this lap band helps you to eat less, which in turn, you lose weight. I understand you have to eat healthy but is it recommended to follow a diet plan? #3- Can anyone give me advice on this? I'm really confused. Part of me wants this more than anything and can't wait to feel healthy again, but the other part of me is scared that it's the wrong decision and feels guilty for spending that amount of money on myself. Does anyone regret doing this? Thanks so much everyone. And I think that if there is enough people on here that are interested and are in Winnipeg, we should start our own support group and have weekly meetings. Something to think about!! Thanks again!
