  1. Nope--got the 'regular' LapBand . I have been full most of today too. Not too bad. I did manage to get about 400 calories in though. It's just weird. I am bracing myself because this has to mean I'm due to suffer through a bad bandster hell LOL....
  2. I was banded last Wednesday the 21st and I have a question. I know that my band is wide open and I shouldn't be feeling restriction, but I'm actually not feelling much of anything! I mean, I can wolf down eggbeaters without worrying about how much I chew and nothing is getting "stuck" like some people mention. Aside of the tenderness I feel in the belly, I keep telling my husband that there isn't anything in there LOL Am I supposed to be feeling anything? Shouldn't things be coming back up if I'm not chewing thoroughly? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it, but I'm not sure how I should be feeling right now (other than hungry LOL).
  3. CONGRATULATIONS!! How wonderful!!! You must be over the moon! Can't wait to hear when your date is!
  4. Someone just turned me on to Muscle Milk Light Ready to Drink (chocolate). 100 calories, 15 g of Protein and 3 grams of fat. It's like drinking chocolate milk! I am developing an addiction already! Good luck!!!
  5. I was banded on Wed the 21st and came home on Thurs., but just didn't have the energy to get on the computer! I am recovering nicely, but just so darn tired with the lack of calories. How's everyone else doing? Tori--how are you???
  6. OMG Dana, you make it look like a piece of cake! Good for you! Hope you continue to feel great!! I hope I'm as lucky tomorrow!
  7. ...that will change my life forever! I need to be at the hospital at 10:30 tomorrow morning. I still can't believe this is happening! I am so amazed and really grateful! Thanks to everyone who put up with my whiny, impatient self through this process!!!! I am so glad I found this board!!! Good luck to all the other October bandsters having their surgeries this week. And tons of prayers and positive thoughts to those who are awaiting approval or appeal. NEVER GIVE UP!
  8. GOOD LUCK! I can't wait to hear how it goes! I'm right behind you!!!
  9. GOOD LUCK DANA!! I believe you are either banded or waiting to be banded as I type this. I hope everything went well and you have a speedy recovery! I'm right behind you (Wednesday) and wishing you nothing but good things!! Can't wait to hear how everything went!!
  10. Wow, how lucky are you to not have too many hoops to jump through? Congrats! Fingers crossed that you get a date as soon as possible! Good luck to you!
  11. Congratulations on your approval! It will fly by now! Prayers and positive thoughts are with you that the time goes fast and you're on your way to your new life....
  12. Congratulations on your approval! Hope you get a surgery date soon!!!
  13. Woohoo, Elfie! Congratulations on getting a surgery date! Hoping it flies by for you! Lots of luck! Keep us posted.
  14. OMG I was just going to post the same thing! I am scheduled for next Wednesday the 21st and not only is my throat getting sore, my son was just diagnosed with strep throat! I called the surgeon, my primary, twice each and begged for antibiotics and finally my primary called a z-pak in for me. I'll be damned if I miss my surgery after I waited this long LOL. I am just waiting for the surgeon to call back to let me know that it's actually okay to take them before surgery..... I hope you feel better!!!!!
  15. Congrats on your surgery next week! I am being banded on the same day!!! I have actually not been told to go on a liquid diet, but I might the day before just to prepare myself. I am sending HUGE positive thoughts to you that this goes by fast and you breeze through without being hungry!!!! You can do it! You can do it!!!
  16. Congratulations to you! Hoping the time flies by!!!!
  17. I'm so sorry that you have to wait even longer! That is BS! My insurance co had a 3-month requirement, but my case worker at the dietician/psych program sent my charts a month early for approval through my insurance company and it went through! I know all insurance companies are different, but maybe there is something they can do to move things along a little faster for you. Vent away! I sure have been for the last couple of days about this very thing...waiting! It's so difficult sometimes. Please keep us posted and good luck!
  18. Hi and congrats to all the October bandsters. I will be joining you gals, as I just received my surgery date of 10/21!!! I think I'm still in shock--so much to do!!!!
  19. OMG! I just got a call from the surgeon's office and apparently they had a cancellation for NEXT WEEK!!!! I was so down yesterday after hearing at support group that the earliest surgery dates available were starting on November 25. It felt like an eternity!! So, I did my pout and tried not to think about it and BAM! I get the call today that they had a cancellation for October 21 and that is my date!!!! Thanks to the people who responded to my 'momentum' post. Sometimes it really is a struggle when you're working so hard toward this goal and it can feel like the road is unending. I am really in shock right now. I haven't even picked out liquid Protein or anything like that! Guess I need to get started!!!!!! (Doing the happy dance!!!! )):wink5::yikes:
  20. So, had my pre-op appointment on Friday. I don't know why they call it pre-op when I don't have a stinking date LOL! I had to basically sign consent forms, get weighed in and that was it. Surgical will contact me this week to get the surgery scheduled, but I mean, all this waiting is really making me lose momentum. Between completing all the doctor's appointments (and waiting for them), waiting for insurance approval, waiting for this pre-op appointment because they wouldn't give me a surgery date without it. It just feels like this is dragging now...... I know there are lots of people on the board that need to complete 6 months or even a year, so I'm sorry if I sound like a brat. It's just this lull right now is making me feel it's never going to come. I think I'm going to hit support group tonight. That always brings me back and makes me feel like this is really happening. I'm just really losing steam. Thanks for listening.
  21. Congrats on getting a date! I'm jealous LOL! I am thinking that sugar free Jello and Protein shakes are in order, but I'd leave the pre-op diet advice to the pros who are already doing it :-) Good luck!
  22. Congrats! I have my pre-op consult tomorrow to sign all the consent forms and then surgical will call me with a date. My surgeon only does surgeries on Wednesdays, so I'm hoping for November 4! SO happy for you getting your date!!! It will fly by, I'm sure!
  23. Congratulations!! How wonderful! Good luck!
  24. OMG if I had a nickel every time I said that to myself (or heard it from other people who knew I was getting the surgery). What my doc told me (because I was considering canceling my surgery since I was able to lose 20 lbs just maintaining 1500 cals/42 fat grams per day) and he said that after the LAP-BAND®, you will be eating 800-1100 calories per day eating less than a cup of food per meal and you will not feel hunger even having that few calories/little food. Your stomach is now the size of a football and after the surgery, it will be the size of a baseball, which does make sense. The thought behind adhering to the medically supervised diet is that it shows the insurance company your commitment to sticking to a specific plan, as the post-op diet restrictions will require a LOT of commitment on our part to stick with. I know this has helped me to stop torturing myself (somewhat LOL) with the question, but of course I still get it from friends and relatives. I just say-- BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE HUNGRY ANYMORE LOL!
  25. AMEN! I got approved on 9/24 and there wasn't a pre-op appointment available until 10/9. Of course, I don't get my freaking date until after that appointment (I have to sign the consent forms, etc.) It just feels like I'm at a complete standstill right now, even though my appointment is on Friday. I think I'm going to hit a support group meeting tonight to feel like this is still happening. Hang in there and keep us posted on when you get your date!!!!
