  1. Sooooooooooo discouraged especially afer reading everyones success(but happy for all of you). Had surgery 7/17/06 and have only lost about 30 lbs including presurgery liquid diet. Ok, i know most of the problem is my fault and i still eat candy and cookies. But in all truth, even knowing the truth, i was hoping it would do some of the work for me. Sounds like some of us have that gift but i surly don't. My other issue is that i've had fills and unfills. I recently had a unfill becaus I could bearly eat at 3.4 and now at 3.3 i can eat tooooo much. My doc says he can't really fill in between those amounts. So discouraged. I should just accept my life time of obesity and be done with it. Ok, feeling sorry for myself and rambling, thanks for listening.
  2. Hey Krystal, I was banded in July and have only lost about 17 lbs. My doc believes in gradually getting you to the "sweet spot" and it took forever...I think it was January before I felt major restriction. You can imagine my frustration and that all my upmff to lose weight was gone by then. Now I stuggle just like before the band. My diet isn't good and I eat candy almost daily (goes down better than most other foods and i still deal with food as comfort). Anyway, I appreciate your story and I hope one day I'll get there too.
  3. Going for 4th!!! fill tomorrow. Been banded since 7/17/06. I currently have 1.7cc/4cc band. Hardly any restriction, can still eat a lot of food. Sometimes I do get food stuck, depends on what it is and if I eat too fast. I'm frustrated and discouraged as I've only lost 9 lbs since surgery!!
  4. I DID IT!!!! I GAVE MYSELF THE INJECTION. Fyi, when one is menstrating you don't have to do the blood thinning injections. I got my period the evening before surgery so didn't have to do the injection. I had to wait until my period ended to start injections. Today was the first day and it was a sinch!! No pain, no burning. Just alcohol area and let dry, push needle in, inject slowly and DONE!!! No big deal. Thanks everyone for your help. MDG
  5. My husband is extremely nervous about my surgery. You'd think he was about to have surgery himself. He loves me very much and is just nervous about: 1. the surgery itself. 2. the unknown after the surgery... "what if something goes wrong?" etc. I told him he has the same fears I do but that all will be just fine. Any words of encouragement from the significant others in your lives??? Thanks, mdg
  6. HI Everyone. I've been on this site and have spoken to some of you but just figured out how to introduce myself :-) I"m Michelle from Maryland. I will be banded July 17!!!! MONDAY!!! PRAYERS are greatly appreciated.
  7. Thanks everyone, your replies are helpful. I really appreciate them. Keep me in prayer as surgery is monday!!!
  8. Hootiebelle, I think my BMI was 44. I"m 5'2" and weigh 241lbs. Thanks for the info. Dody, Apparently aspirin works differently than Lovenox and heparin.
  9. I will be banded on July 17. I have to give myself a blood thinning injection (heparin for example,to prevent blood clots) the day before surgery and then for two weeks after, 2-3 times/day!!! I"m dreading this!!! Has anyone else had to do this?? MDG :help:
