  1. If you're throwing up a lot and aren't able to get all your liquids in, you may be too tight. If you aren't getting enough calories in that you need, your body may be in starvation mode and is holding onto every last calorie there is.
  2. 7/10 - 230 last week - 203.8 9/14 - 201 Finally seeing some progress again! Had a second fill on Thursday and have had the few pounds come off since them. This journey to ONEderland has been way too slow for me lol But I still have been bad when it has come to exercising
  3. Every doc has their own protocol, and their own reasoning for it. Basically the more "regular" food you eat, the more you stomach has to work to digest the food. It has to work and turn and churn to digest more solid foods, which could mess with your stitches. Even if it doesn't do anything immediately, it could have a lasting effect down the road. That is why the docs slowly advance your diet, so that your stomach has enough time to heal. You should definitely mention it to your nutritionist.
  4. I believe I read one post on here where somebody had to do that. I didn't have to do anything like that, just NPO after midnight.
  5. I did in the beginning as it was recommended by my doctor and they say people who journal are more likely to keep weight off. However, it doesn't fit with my day to day life so I had since stopped journaling. If I notice a slowly of weightloss, I will journal for a few days to see if there are any patterns.
  6. Consistent overeating can stretch out your pouch.
  7. I just try to pick food high in Protein, that's my main focus. Every doc/nutritionist has their own recommendations. Mine has me focusing on high protein (60-80gm/day) and low carbs (60gm or less a day). I also am told that my meal should be around 1cup to 1 1/4 cup in size. For Breakfast I usually always have the same thing. I eat about 1/2 cup of nonfat greek yogurt with 2tbsp Peanut Butter mixed in - you can do regular peanut butter, reduced fat, or that PB2 stuff. If I don't have that for breakfast, I'll eat a scrambled egg with cheese mixed in it . If you like turkey or something in an omelet, mix that in it too. For lunch I usually have a boca burger, which is a soy-based meatless burger but it is reaaaally good. I grew up eating these and still love them, and one burger has 17gm protein. The flame griller is my fav, as well as the chicken. I may have 1/4cup of veggies along with it. For dinner I usually have chicken or turkey tenderloin. Sometimes I use the spicy shake n'bake mix (i'm not much of a cook) to add something extra to it. I usually have some raw veggies that I dip into my ranch dip....except that it is the ranch dip poweder packet mixed into my nonfat greek yogurt instead of sour cream, so it's no fat and lots of protein. I try not to snack, but if I need to I either take some bites of my peanut butter yogurt, or do like a string cheese with turkey deli meat rolled around it so that it's a good protein source. The key is having good restriction. I've been fortunate enough to have decent restriction since day one. I can go 4 hours easily between meals. If I'm busy at work sometimes I go too long with 5-6 hours in between.
  8. 7/10 - 230 last week - 204.4 9/7 - 203.8 Another rough week for me. This time I was teetering between 204 and 203 so at least it was all loss. That's good considering my exercise was pretty much nonexistant - shame on me. I get a fill on Thursday which will hopefully help, but I know I really need to increase my exercise to see it melting off.
  9. When you are at the right fill, eating should never be an uncomfortable experience. You probably need a tiny unfill.
  10. I agree...check with your doctor to find out what if any restrictions you have. I wasn't allowed to do any heavy weight lifting until about 6 weeks, and no ab work until 8 weeks.
  11. I also agree with BJean here as well. I also could care less if that belief is wrong, too. Even if you really did talk and see God, it doesn't change my own personal beliefs. And I still think it's ignorant to think that there is only one right way, and anyone who doesn't believe is wrong.
  12. Even if you were tight as can be and couldn't swallow your own spit, those cravings and that desire to snack would still be there. Unfortunately! I have the same problem. It's a mental issue no matter how much restriction you have. I'd trust the doctor to fill it in appropriate amount to where you can still eat normal foods, just in smaller portions. I personally am seeing a therapist to help me with the mental cravings so they don't drag me down. As far as the cravings themselves, I do indulge in them occasionally or else they will get too bad. I don't believe in cutting anything out of my diet, because I don't want it to be a diet. But I do believe that moderation (and portion control from restriction) is the key to a happy balance. So if I'm craving chocolate, I'm going to have it. But I'm going to have a fun-size bar. If I don't allow myself that, then I will eventually cave and end up eating a few hundred candy bars. Ok that's exaggerated but you get the point Good luck!
  13. I was so close to banging my head against the desk and then you wrote this masterpiece :blushing: Again you have expressed my exact thoughts and sentiments in a much more elegant way than I'd come up with.
  14. First of all it sounds like you are kicking ass!!! Way to go. Do you find yourself struggling to make the right portion choices? It seems like if you don't exercise as much you notice a difference in your weight right away, so I would suggest a small fill. Remember restriction is when the lapband works best. But if you are happy with what you have going on now then feel free to stick with it.
  15. Agree with other posters - definitely something you want to check out and have lined up beforehand. Follow-up care with the lapband is so important!!
  16. Every doc has their own guidelines. I was allowed to have toast 3 weeks out.
  17. I've always been told that I never look what I weigh, so to me the number doesn't mean too much. My surgeon asked me where I wanted to be, I threw out a number, and he said he thought it was possible. Now for instance my friend who is in her 40s and has had 5 kids, he picked a higher number for her based on that information. But since I am younger and have had no kids he doesn't think there will be a problem reaching that goal. I have NO clue what I will look like at "goal" weight. If I find myself 20 pounds higher than goal and really LOVING the way I look and feel, then that will be my new goal We focus too much on numbers
  18. If you're not really able to eat anything again you probably need another slight unfill.
  19. Hey! I'm an RN and have always considered working as a nurse in the military. I looked into this a year or 2 ago when I realized I was going to get the lapband in the future. From what I read and researched on the internet, it automatically disqualifies you from enlisting. Part of the problem from what I read is that it lumps gastric bypass and lapband together. Hopefully in the coming years there will be more literature and evidence showing that those with lapband could join some parts of the military. If anyone else has heard differently, I'd love to know! Especially any other nurses out there, since we start at officer training and bypass the general bootcamp.
  20. Everyone is different. I had a couple friends that were hungry 1 and 2 weeks out. I know there are some people on this board who said they were hungry waking up from recovery. I personally wasn't wanting to eat anything until around day 3, and by then I was on puree food so that held me over with no problems besides mental hunger. Mental hunger was always an issue because hello I want a real burger not this pureed chili crap! But I was one of the fortunate people to have a decent amount of restriction up until my first fill so I had no problems eating the portions I was supposed to. My understanding is that my situation was rare.
  21. How does, let's use FailureIsNotAnOption for example - how does her niece being a homosexual impact or effect you at all?
  22. I do occasionally. My dietician said that sometimes it is a sign of being full. I've read that other people burp when they are full.
  23. Way to avoid the issue. Aren't you supposed to let god judge them? Murder directly impacts someone else's life. Homosexuality should only affect those that are homosexual. Are you telling me that somebody murdering your mother, and finding out that your mother is a lesbian are the same? Homosexuality doesn't impact you directly like murder can. What difference does it make to you if someone else is a homosexual - it should have no effect on your life even if you think it is a sin. Again aren't you supposed to let god judge?
  24. I've had no problems eating salads. I've so far had no food intolerances (knock on wood) but I always chew very very well. I've had a few bites of salad because I love it but I just make sure I get my protein in for the day.
