  1. Hi Everyone I'm completely new here and I'm getting myself in a right pickle and getting worried  The problem is the constant feeling of something lodged in my lower throat almost like a chicken bone and i've been feeling it for over week. My nurse says its just the stomach swollen/grazed from the abuse but now I'm worrying about what damage I might have done to my band and myself. I feel really really stupid but this is driving me crazy. It all started last thursday (11 days ago) when in a moment of madness I recklessly decided to have some Pasta. According to my diet sheet it was allowed as long as I over-cooked it (no problem). BUT I had already eaten some mashed potato for my dinner. I done the stupid thing and overate!! I am was 3 weeks out of op, and after some real pain and sitting on the bathroom floor crying I was eventually sick and bought up about a spoonful of well chewed pasta. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? It's hard to describe the feeling, its not really a major pain just a nagging, it's not even constant. And of course the internet is as dangerous as it is informative because now I'm worried its slipped, eroded or been inhabited by aliens (well that may be a bit extreme - but you know how it is once you start reading stuff) Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated Please reassure me

    Hospital Group

I had my surgery with the Hospital Group, and Shaw Somers fitted my band. I can honestly say that he is a truely wonderful man and the surgery was a breeze. The aftercare you recieve from the Hosptial Group is worth every penny. I have regular consulations with a dietician, I have a 24 hour emergency phone number if I need it. I have on 2 occasions, and both were dealt with instantly by a proffesional, caring, understanding nurse. Please be aware that on both occaions I had to call because I had done something really REALLY stupid and I needed reasurrance and advice. You seriously need to consider if this is what you want to do. I spent a long time researching and talking to people before i made a decision. But as soon as I met Mr Somers I knew he would help me. I can say with my hand on my heart it was the right choice for me, and all at the Hospital Group have been fabulous. If you have any further concerns, and are unsure about using the forum please feel free to email me. d_wuss@ntlworld.com Best Wishes and I'll be thinking of you Wendy xxxx
  3. I'm pleased to report I've had no further problems, following everyones advice of going back to liquids it worked a treat. I've been banded 2 months now and have a consultation on Tuesday 1st August and I'm hoping I can arrange for my first fill. I'm feeling really positive and want some restriction. Weight has sort of stood still for a few weeks now and I need that kick up the bum. It helps to know your not the first to experience the chicken bone, and I'm sure liquids will do the trick. Good Luck Wendy xxx
  4. Glad you're getting better I too would like to thank everyone for their advice and mainly reassurance. It doesn't matter what the nurse/doctor says you've done or how to cure the problem, the main thing is knowing your not alone! It's gonna be a long and traumatic journey and I'm just glad I've found friends to travel with. So a big thank you to everyone :clap2: x

    How Often Do You PB

Twice in five weeks! How dumb do I feel! :faint: At least now I know what all the foamy stuff is... for a moment I thought I had rabies! *phew*
  6. Not only does Sybil have a name, but also a personality. She's not really a morning person and isn't keen on breakfasts and currently has no interest in pasta regardless of what you serve it with. But no matter what her mood I wouldn't be without her. :biggrin1: My friend Sam's band we've named MC Hammer cos everytime she tries to eat naughties we can almost hear it singing... "Can't touch this!" I'm sure we're not the only ones who've named them

May 2006 Band Crew ~ July Chat

It was the same with me, but my nutritionist has told me I need to eat more. I'm sure once you get onto more solid food you'll notice a dramatic change. Little and often or your metabolism goes into starvation mode and stops burning fat. Since eventually doing as I'm told the weight loss has picked up. :girl_hug: I'm in on the challenge at least 20lbs off forever by 13th Sept :clap2: :clap2:
  8. How very true... The nutritionist told me I had to drink a lot more. Glad to hear you're feeling better now. Good luck
  9. Thanks for all the advice everyone. It seems to have worked. I had an appointment with my nutritionist and she agreed warm liquids and sipping. And to stop it happening again I've got to slow down. Other than that she says I'm going great and has refused to do my first fill yet, she says I don't need it yet I'm doing so well without it. So I'm absolutely thrilled! :biggrin1: :biggrin1: The phrase that pays is definately "Sip like a gerbil gnaw like a rabbit!" Wendy xx
  10. I think hot liquids do seem to help a bit. I'm gonna try one now just to see. Thanks for your almost instant reply, its the reassurance I was looking for. You're a star
