  5. A nurse friend of mine told me that even chewing gum causes the digestive fluids in your stomach to digest the food that is in there. Then you get hungry faster. It made sense to me. I rarely ever chew gum. Just sayin...

  13. I have been reading posts on this site for a while. The posts are so educating. I have learned A LOT about the Gastric Sleeve, the surgery, the diet, problems and successes, you name it. This forum is so encouraging because I know where to go if I have problems. You all are so kind. I want to be like you all. I am going to my Seminar on Feb. 1st, so I have a way to go before surgery. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row and get the ball rolling. My insurance will cover the surgery (not all of it of course). United Health Care requires a 6 month documented diet. I was on a 1500 calorie diet last summer for 4 months and I lost 17 pounds. I couldn't do it any more, I was starving. This was from 5/5/16-9/16/16. I started another diet {Low Carb} in October for 3 months. I lost 19 pounds total. I even made it through Thanksgiving and lost weight. This diet was from 10/10/16-1/4/17. My doctor knew about these diets because she told me about the 1500 calorie diet. I went to see her during the diets and she noticed on my chart that I had lost weight. I don't know if she wrote them down or not but, I did. Do you think this would pass for my 6 month documented diet for insurance? Does the insurance send her a form to fill out for me, do they send it to me to give to her, how does she get it? I want to mention these diets to her to see what she thinks. Thank you all so much for your friendship... Chris

  16. Thank you for your help! I hope my UHC doesn't require 6 months of dieting. I've dieted most of my life already. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

  19. I have United Health Care Insurance. I called them to make sure the Gastric Sleeve is in our policy and it is! Yea!!! My question is, does anyone have this insurance? Does anyone know if they require anything before surgery, like 6 months dieting...etc... My seminar is Feb 1st. Thank you
  20. That is what made me question the staples. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  21. Thank you. I have already watched a video on YouTube about the surgery. Yes, it was definately interesting to see the cutter/stapler in action. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Thank you all for answering my question. I already have titanium in my neck so no problem. I figured there had to be a way for them not to come lose and be floating around in your body. LOL I was really concerned about it though. Thank you all for your help.
  23. I hope this doesn't sound too dumb. I was wondering what happens to the staples they use in surgery? Do they just dissolve, fall out or stay there? That kinda concerns me. Anyone ever ask that?
  24. Thank you so much Kate. God Bless!
