July 9-21 Surgery Buddies?
I'm July 13th. ???? I start a 3 day clear liquid diet on July 10th...I have no idea how I'm going to get through that! 3 weeks feels like tomorrow and forever away. How is everyone dealing with family and friends? Mine are sort of supportive...they do keep saying things like, "are you sure you really need it?" And loooong angry sighs whenever it comes up - I don't even bring it up! It's stressful but I pretend it doesn't bother me. I just feel like sometimes I'm all alone in this, and others are waiting to say I told you so. Frustrating. Whatever they feel - I know this is what I need to do. And I hope they'll see the good once my weight starts to go down. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!!

Looking for early July buddy!
I'm July 13th! I am self pay so not too many hurdles to jump besides lots of doctor appointments and nutritionist visits. I'm trying to practice now - especially not drinking when I eat and 30 mins after. It's so hard!! Especially since most Protein sources are a bit savory. I find myself eating less so I can set my timer and drink Water again. Go Team July!!

New here - Hi! :)
Hi! I was excited to find a twenties forum here. Just wanted to introduce myself - I'm 25, and my name is Heather. I just had my first consult with my surgeon today, and started an insurance required 6 month weight loss plan. I'm not sure if anyone else here is stuck in the limbo before surgery, but I'm here to chat if you want! Great to meet all of you Heather

Dr. Robert Pinnar Reston, VA
I went to the free seminar with Dr. Pinnar on 4/6/09 - it was fantastic! The staff is very pleasant and I instantly felt at ease. They do have a program fee now for post op - $1500 is due 10 days before surgery, and then 1000 more in $100 installments each month. This pays for all the aftercare you receive for a year - they will not bill your insurance. Unlimited visits, fills, etc. Anyway, I am looking to see if I can sign up for the flex spending program with my health insurance, because they say you can use that to pay for the fee. Also, these expenses are tax deductible. I'd love to hear from anyone else and their experience with Dr. Pinnar.

Hi! I'm Heather
Hi everyone! My name is Heather, I just wanted to introduce myself. I am currently working towards getting banded - I have to complete 6 months of weight loss and a slew of other tests before my insurance will pay. This forum community is fantastic, I have learned so much here already! Some of it scary, some it funny, some of it sad. I hope to get to know many of you in the coming months! A little bit about myself...I'm 25 years old, married, and working as an Administrative and Meetings Assistant in Virginia. I have a undergraduate degree, but seem to have stalled out as an admin. Part of it is office politics, but a lot of it I feel has to do with my perception of myself. I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago, and every since then, I have had a very hard time losing weight. I cannot get under 200 lbs, no matter what I try. My obesity is destroying my life, and that is why I am getting the band - to be healthy, to live a long and happy life with the time I have left. Nice to be here!

Obviously don't want my picture taken.

And this is why I don't put my hair up in a ponytail...or wear short sleeved shirts anymore.
