Kane Center, NW Subs of Chicago
I have mixed feelings about them. I was banded in MX and they took me for follow up (plus). I too found their office staff disorganized and it's hard to reach anyone on the phone (minus). But I always got a call back when I left a message, and I have been called by both the doctor and nurse to answer my questions (plus). They constantly reschedule my appointments, I don't think I ever had one at the time I originally set it for (minus). But everyone there has always been super nice to me (plus). I think the doctor seems a little too conservitave, he has sent me for 3 upper GI in less than a year-which of course I pay for out of pocket (minus). Of course this is all my experiences and everyone is different...

I've swapped addictions...
I'm addicted to crossing my legs at the knee. It amazes me that I can do it, that I can do it comfortably, and that I can touch my calves together when my legs are crossed. I find myself constantly crossing my legs. Even under my desk at work!

Pregnant w/ raging infection :-/ (DON'T GO TO MEXICO!)
I seem to have offended someone here and I'm sorry. I did not mean to stomp all over your thread or make anyone upset. I just saw the opportunity to put my two cents in about my doctor. Well, it was just my two cents because I don't think I explained myself well. Nataliesmommy I'm sorry about your situation. I realize now that everything you said was not about Dr Huacuz. Your intention was just to advise people to be cautious and I can respect that. I wish you a speedy recovery Nataliesmommy.

Pregnant w/ raging infection :-/ (DON'T GO TO MEXICO!)
Dr Huacuz did my surgery. I have no complaints with his medical skills.

Were we talking about lunch on the 25th? That is a Sunday. Is Sunday ok for everyone? That would mean Inner Me could join us. Any time is fine with me.

medicine into liquid
I take a bunch of pills every day and do not have a problem with them. The rule I have heard is you can take anything that is about the size of a pencil eraser. Things like Tylenol I just break in half. I'm on an antibiotic now that is huge! I just cut it in half and it goes right down. I do take a chewable Vitamin because I tried a regular vitamin once and OMG - won't do that again. :embarassed: I was worried before surgery too. I even went out and bought a pill crusher - but only used it once. You do need to be more careful right after surgery though - that's why you will read so many people talk about liquid tylenol and chewable Gas Ex. I wouldn't worry so much about it. Just ask your doctor about it and congrats on your upcoming banding!

All in the Naperville area: On the Border - like veggiestyle was saying - is a good choice. It is by the Target on RT 59. Also Friaco's by the mall is also good for Mexican. For Indian a great place is Indian Harvest on Ogden and I think the cross street is Royal St George. There is a great Thai place on RT 59 and N Aurora Rd next to the Oberweiss but I can't remember what it is called. Downtown Naperville also has some great restaurants. Hope that helps

If you're thinking of the Jamba Juice by Kohl's - then it is a Qdoba. There is a Chipotle up the road in front of Meijer if people prefer that. I personally would choose Qdoba - they have a great vegetarian tortilla Soup.

Mandy, were you able to make reservations for us? Where should we all meet?

Where did you lose first?
I seem to lose from the top down. First my face, then chest, arms and back. I was a size smaller on top before my bottom half started to catch up. My belly is still the biggest part of me.

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
I had my surgery done by Dr Huacuz. I did not have a bad experience - but not a good one either. If I had it to do again I would not have been so cheap about it and would not have chosen the surgeon based on price!. I can't complain because I have not had any real problems. My fill doctor said my band looks good - but it is placed low so my pouch is bigger than normal. Everyone has their own view on this whole thing and I'm happy some of you had a better experience with Dr Huacuz. But, I would not recommend him.

Geez, sorry guys! I don't get time to check this site very often. I guess I missed the whole planning phase of this get together. Unfortunately, I cannot make it to Schaumburg. I live in Chiciago and I don't have a car. Maybe next time we can make it someplace in the city (or at least accessable to the CTA). Hope you all have a wonderful time! Sue

Anti-Lapband website...
"MGB is $17,000 and the LapBand removal is $5,000" $22,000? What a joke! This is nothing but a big advertisement. Kinda reminds me of all those political ads on TV - everyone has to put the other guy down.

Has anyone had this happen
I had this happen a few times, but only on fill day. For me it seems to be a reaction to the barium.
-
Soup Concoctions?
Mmmmm... I love that stuff! I buy it for my liquid day after every fill.

Chicago friends
Hi everyone, I was banded in July but I just found this thread. I would love to find out about a lap band get together. I joined the bariatric surgery group with meetup.com - but they never actually "meet up". I live in Chicago but was banded in Mexico. I follow up at Loyola with Dr Temple - he is great!

Here Is My Situation
Hello fellow pug lover! Things do get easier after your fill. You will get full on less food. Are you exercising? I have really had to start exercising harder to see any results. The scale creeps down so slowly! As for the fill - it's no problem really. Just a "pinch" as my doctor says. And the barium really does not have a taste. It's kinda like milk of magnesium or mylanta just not flavored. Best of luck!

Cheating - what if...
Oh this is so sad. I actually thought this thread was going to be about cheating on your diet. I am such a food addict!

2006 July Banders! ! ! 2006 July Banders! ! !
Hello fellow July-ers! I'm counting down the days until my banding on the 3rd. Even packed my bag already! I do have my moments of anxiety, but I know I can do this. We all can do this!
